I just watched Rocky IV again, and I'm not sure it can be ruled out as the beginning of the fall of the Soviets. "If I can change, and if yous can change, then everybody can change." They were chanting "Rocky!" at the end.
I don't think I've ever seen a real boxing match in which the winner is allowed to address the crowd at the end. When it's Rocky in Moscow during the Cold War, it's not surprising to hear something profound. But what if we let somes foul-mouthed crazy guy like Mike Tyson do that? "Yeth, I am the beth-t fighter of all time!! Look at me! I'm gonna eat your children! I bit off hith MF-in ear!"
So if Drago's kid beats Creed's kid in the new Creed movie, does that mean the wall's going back up and Putin's invading East Germany?
Rocky movies would be much shorter in real life... Dolph Lundgren once punched Sylvester Stallone so hard that he spent four days in hospital
The only boxing match I ever watched that resembled a Rocky movie was Hagler-Hearns. It lasted less than 8 minutes.
Check out Arturo Gatti v Mickey Ward’s first fight, round 9, on YouTube. Best fight ever if you want to watch the whole match.
