In all fairness, that shouldn't take up too much of his time.

I wonder if his departure from OU was not entirely his decision

I bet he's just bored. You know how it goes. You retire and think your hobby, in this case skinning puppies alive, is going to keep you more than occupied but less than a year in you find yourself needing a challenge again.

A low 7 figure salary for a couple of years until the lealgue folds? Sounds good to me.

    FIFY:

A low 7 figure salary for a couple of years, living and working in Dallas instead of Norman, until the league folds?

I wonder if he is going to move? If he is, that does explain it - it would be a little awkward for him to explain to the OU faithful that "yeah it was fine living in Oklahoma when you were PAYING me to live here, but..."

Its hard to imagine Big Game Barb leaving Norman and that Disney princess mcmansion with the penis turrets.

Don't really want Stoops in Dallas. It was bad enough having him in state for 1 day per year. The Texas Government needs to yank his Texas work visa and deny him entry into the state.

As a point of curiosity, are the two zeros to the right of the decimal point part of the 7 figures? So, instead of Stoops getting, say $5,000,000.00, he only gets $50,000.00? That's seven figures.

He could live in Dallas while the XFL season is in bloom, then "refuge" back to Norman to make his rounds at ASPCAs for newborn puppies to --- play with.

    Dion,

Bob's retirement was not totally his idea, but OU's administration and alums had nothing to do with it.

Is this a "job" or a publicity stunt for the league? Just like Barry, I would be surprised if Bob moves out of Norman, but this is allows him to establish Texas residence and avoid Oklahoma taxes. He doesn't need the money, it's about helping friends and diminishing taxes.

...and being in the DFW area and available just in case Jerruh gets tired of mediocrity with Jason for the Cowboys? :confused2:

Bob has had enough headbutting competition with Castiglione, not sure he wants the same with Jones, particularly without Dr Boren to run interference.

Me thinks Stoops enjoys coaching football but not on the college level. The ongoing grind & drama of college recruting of 18 year olds must really get old to coaches at times.

According to DKR in the parking lot of The Woodlands golf club, that's why he retired,

That's kinda like a punch drunk fighter coming back for another fight.
I really don't get it. He must not have much of a life without football.

Maybe (and this is 100% speculative) he sees this as a way to make some good money while being able to essentially mail it in on the actual coaching side of things.

He was interviewed by local media here and basically said it a lot of fun to hire a coaching staff and build an organization. If it is about living in the big city. ... Stoops has lakeside mansions in Chicago.

Ugh. I really wanted to like the Dallas XFL franchise. He has said in interviews that many of his former players who aren't in the NFL are potential signees. Will not root for them. It is going to be OU south. Much like Gary Kubiak turned the Texans into A&M south... I still can't root for the Texans...

Please don't call them that. They are not, and even if they wanted to be management is too damn dumb to ever be considered a true Son of the Republic.

I prefer to call them the KKK - Kirby Kretin Korp
