My son imitated Michael Jackson in HS and my grandson, now 6 went as MJ one Halloween. Thank God they didn’t do blackface, they wouldn’t be able to run for office 10 and 30 years from now respectively. Jeez but again thank God, they do know which bathroom to go into - without prompting.

Imitating Michael Jackson only happened after Thriller. A white high school student in 1980 was not imitating a rapper in a good way.

The HouChron has a sports writer named Jerome Soloman who divides the world this way. Any issue, any topic. It's as simple as black and white. If Vegas offered odds on his columns, it would be like stealing.

I wonder if that will someday become racist too?
Simply trying to moonwalk like Michel Jackson will be the equivalent of being a Klansman?
Video proof of you doing it as a child means you lose your job (exception for Democrats, of course).

Geez. That is basically the the functional equivalent of a very late term abortion. Your parents must have really hated you. Sympathies for our brudda.

There were some rough moments - seeing my mother get robbed and assaulted from time to time, being awoken on Christmas morning 1983 to some freak shooting up a car across the street, and getting bullied some at school. However, we moved when I was 8 (to Plano - the complete opposite of Oakland at the time), so though I got into some fights, they were elementary school fights. Those kids had some violence and hatred in them, but they weren't out to do serious harm and couldn't do so anyway.

My brother, who was 7 years older had it much worse. He got into real fights, and when he was in 9th grade, a kid pulled a gun on him and robbed him. The next day, my dad showed up at the school and roughed the kid up - picked him up and threw him into a wall and told him he'd find him and kill him if he ever even spoke to my brother again. Still can't believe my dad didn't end up in the slammer for that. Lol. He wasn't a hot head and generally knew better, but the gun coupled with the fact that the city was run by the Black Panthers made him assume that nobody would protect my brother but him and that it was time to get serious. That incident prompted my him to switch careers and move the family at the end of the school year.

When I lived in the City, we only went over there for basketball (we owned 1/3 of some sweet GSW seats) and the odd concert. The occasional Sat am farmers mkt. But that was it. Period.

Deez, proud of your dad for standing up like he did for your brother. I would like to think that I would do the same thing, but that takes some courage.

Oh, and Evan Shroyer is a hero. I knew Adler was a punk but video evidence is also good.

It's one of my dad's proudest moments. Even in the '80s most whites in Oakland were passive weanies, so this punk just assumed that nobody would do anything about him bullying and pulling a gun on a white kid. He also terrorized blacks, but none of them had fathers in the home, so the idea that an adult man would not only confront him but get physical with him wasn't on his radar screen at all. Needless to say, he left my brother alone after that.

Nowadays that wouldn’t have gonna well for your family. The MSM would make the kid with the gun out to be a hero and your Dad would wind up in jail and plastered all over the MSM as a racist child-beater.

If he had been caught back then, it wouldn't have gone much better. The police and local authorities were bought and paid for by the Black Panthers. They would have had no mercy on him and definitely wouldn't have done anything to the kid. The big difference for my dad was that the school principal (who was a black woman) was conscientious and a devout Christian. She knew what my dad had done and knew the kid's record. She could have and was asked to identify my dad to the kid's mother and to the police. She refused.

Yep. I think she had a better perspective than anyone. Obviously my brother wasn't the first kid to have a run-in with the bad apple. He had almost surely been a pain in the *** for that principal, and she probably figured it was good for him to get a bit of a wake-up call from an adult man willing to scare him straight a little.

I think two things are at play here. First, black voters are overwhelmingly partisan Democrats, so if you ask them if they want a Democrat to resign, they'll say No and vice versa with a Republican no matter the underlying controversy.

Second, I think there's a bit of a Washington Redskins phenomenon taking place here. I'm sure that blacks aren't fans of blackface. However, I suspect that it outrages them less than it outrages virtue signaling white liberals or at least less than they pretend to be outraged.

Finally, an honest Democrat lets out why none of these Virginia guys will lose their jobs -- they are unwilling to risk a Republican getting the political power.

And this is what is behind everything they do. All of it.

Whether they are on the attack (Kavanaugh, Moore) or on the defense (Ellison, the Virg. triumvirate). The truth is neither sexual assault nor racism mean anything to them. All that matters is raw power. They will say or do anything to get it, and hold it. Principles mean nothing. "Racism only matters when it can help you politically" is not a principle. They have no principles.

Do not let these people gain political power at any level.

It will, no doubt, present a good question for Republicans in the future. Because of this newly articulated "Virginia Rule," no Republican should ever be chased from office. For anything. But what if this presents a conflict with principle? We shall see how that resolves itself.

I see that the Senate failed to pass a "born alive" bill yesterday. The vote was 53-44. It needed 60 to pass. All major Dem Presidential hopefuls, Harris, Sanders, Booker, etc. voted against it.

The bill "would have threatened prison time for doctors who don't try saving the life of infants born alive during failed abortions". The bill was a response to recent legislation in New York & Virginia.

Dems block 'born alive' bill to provide medical care to infants who survive failed abortions

A similar bill the "Born-Alive Infants Protection Act" passed unamimouly in 2002, which shows you how far left the democrats have moved. Some Dems argued that because of the 2002 bill this one wasn't needed. It was more of a reaffirmation of where America stands, I suppose. The answer, at least to me, is America stands in a very dark place these days.

Good for Bob Casey, Doug Jones, and Joe Manchin for having the guts to vote against their leadership. Two points on this. First, if this bill is truly redundant with current law, then it truly was a political stunt and shouldn't have been played. (I doubt that it was. That isn't Sasse's style.) Second, this was a vote to invoke cloture, not a rejection of the bill. They should have forced the Democrats to filibuster the bill at least for awhile. Make them defend the most radical abortion position by either party in history.

And if anyone asks how it is that you could vote for Trump then re-direct them to your post. I agree it's all about power. The politicians themselves are merely placeholders for power. Smooth, bombastic, whatever. Their virtue signaling is only to stir the passions of their emotionally impaired constituents.

Basically, the need to arrogantly talk about having an abortion is what pisses me off the most. There is ZERO thought that it is a life. I did it, FU. It's a tonisil. That's their stance.

And not to pat myself on the back, but I saw this coming. In 2017 and '18, Democrats were claiming to have the "moral high-ground" for ousting Al Franken and John Conyers and criticizing Bill Clinton 20 years after it mattered, but like I said at the time, they were only throwing people under the bus when they knew it wouldn't cost them power. This Virginia situation illustrates how right I was. Lol. Suddenly racism isn't that important, and suddenly due process matters and women aren't to be believed.

It's not easy eating principles. It's a big thick pill. Blowback is always inevitable when you accuse someone of something. I have a feeling they are now fully justified because the Republicans pushed the Kavanaugh nomination through as if a last minute accusation from 35 years ago (or however long ago it was) is the equivalent of evidence that is unequivocal.

Doesn't the government prosecute parents who refuse to provide cancer care for their kids? So why wouldn't liberals want to prosecute medical professionals when live babies are not provided care? I will hang up and listen for the resident liberals.
