Dion I know you remind me every time but how do I make a donation to HF? I really like the idea that we as a community are giving money to a Horn. Thank you for doing it. Maybe if enough of us send even the $5.00 suggested you can make another donation
Wow! A few folks here have sent some donations to HF today so I made another $100 donation to the Derrian Brown fund. Thanks to the donors for your kind generosity to Derrian and his family. This is awesome. Love you idoits!
This is great You Dion for thinking of it And The greatness that is the Hornfan community . Here's to hearing Derrian continues to improve .
It’s idoit ... an old Hornfans joke based on a typo in a recruiting post about the ”Oklahoma freakshow” or something
I am uphauled some have forgotten this brilliance. I hope no one thought you were going for the juggler.
Once again, it's idoit, not idiot... Therein lies the joke. Maybe your device is auto-correcting though.
Latest from the mom -- "Everyday Derrian get's stronger and stronger and is setting his own goals and he said that 3 to 4 weeks he is out and ready to run that football for Texas. His first full day of therapy and he ROCKED IT!!! That's my boy!!! DB3 STRONG!!! HE keeps me strong."
That’s excellent news! The kid’s a real gamer. Hope he makes a full recovery and we get to see him play someday.
Kicked in. Proud to be a Longhorn and proud of all you true “horns.” My dad always said, “Don’t ask a man if he is a Texan. If he is, you’ll know. And if he isn’t, there’s no need to embarass him.” Proud to be. God speed, Darrien
deleted as requested Although now, you quoted it The guy is dancing, looking good; I want him to come to UT and be a student, a trainer, or a Heisman trophy winner, however far he can progress. My humor, apparently lost, was just that he looks like he already has physical capability to dance and jump around; obviously a great blessing compared to what could have been.
I’m going to speculate that VYFan’s comment, while certainly ill-advised, was not intentionally milacious. Just a poor attempt at humor.
Trusting that your indignation indicates I was out of line, I deleted that post. The context here is that the young man who might die, might be brain damaged, might be paralyzed, might never walk, is now, thanks to doctors and prayers, standing up, singing and dancing. We are in the part of the story where we can laugh along with him and his family because he has been delivered past those awful possibilities. Peace!
Many of those things could have happened, however I did some reading up on the subject and realized that the chances now of lingering consequences or long-term effects are really really small. I'm sure he will be advised to give up football, but from the sounds of it, I don't think football was a contributing factor to this issue and as long as it is properly healed, he probably could resume his football career. Doctors haven't had to deal with this type of issue and football, so there just isn't enough to go on for them to take a chance. I know the school won't want the liability. Look at what happened to the Maryland program when one of their players died. Not just the poor judgement by the coaches and trainers that contributed to the players death, but also the really bad publicity. It's not worth it.
