Fuel city... No Bueno, senor :fiestanana:

Try El Si hay in downtown oak cliff. No dine in, just awesome tacos. Long lines on summer evenings but well worth it.
In mesquite, Peppers on Gus Thomasson.

My wife and I will try the one in Arlington you mentioned. Thanks for the tip

Glad you like. It's a 20 minute or so wait on a Friday summer evening. If your brave enough try the corn and mayo concoction they whip up at the cart next to the shack. Elote I think it's called.

When the lines are too long, El Ranchero is down the street. Real good stuff too. Owned by the same folks that run El Calle Dolce around the corner.

Though you're apparently not much of a fan of fuel city, they do make that corn, mayo, hot sauce, cheese and butter concoction in styrofoam cups. Very filling to say the least.

My kids love Fuzzy's Tacos (#$%@). Well, it beats Taco Bell and Taco Bueno...

Fuzzy's burritos are actually pretty good, so there's that. A number of aggies we know go apes$#!% crazy over Freebird's burritos. IMHO, it's no better than Fuzzy's for burritos.

Family favorite is three flat tacos at El Patio in Austin. stack em like pancakes, then pour salsa & queso over them like syrup.

I saw where Loma Linda in Houston closed down. Awesome all around Tex-Mex dive in E. Houston on Telephone Rd. It had been around since the 1950s. They made the best "puff" tacos around. Sad to see this memory go. Some family friends really liked to go there after church, so we'd frequent the place when I was a kid in the 1970s, despite it being far from home.

I should also mention two other favorites in San Antonio. Grumpy's out in Garden Ridge and Thousand Oaks Cafe.

Grumpy's is worthwhile? I never knew. I've driven by many times but never stopped in.

Went to Cartel Tacos again. It was just as good, but I really noticed this time that they like to make everything very spicy. That’s fine with me, but my wife was giving it the thumbs down because it was too spicy for her.
