The white educated Liberal is the root of the most extreme forms of sanctimony. That's my opinion anyway.

    Thanks MrD
Great article. Gives me hope real people are paying attention to real things instead of worrying about appearing "woke".
There are more real people than there are rich white elites who feel the need to virtue signal and waste a vote.

I hesitated before I posted that. It could be argued it's a racist statement. But I think reality should allow us to recognize cultural differences. People are self-segregating (in my opinion) based upon the past. And the horror of what white people did to black America is, without question, just that: horrifying. There are no punches to be pulled in assessing our past. And there are many people who want to atone and are ashamed of that even though they had nothing to do with it.

We all have an emotional make-up. I don't know why some people are so sensitive to the past while others are equally numb to it. But there is an awareness now of the past that is fully blossomed and it is seems to me that this generation is going through a latent form of outrage and desire to make things right. And I agree with that to a certain extent. Do I agree with it enough to permanently raise taxes for wealth redistribution and trust that our government will not politicize it (which is the meat of my question)?

    No, I don't.

And when I think of what Rodney King said, "Can't we all just get along?" I begin to wonder if anybody in power really wants that for our country. It seems that the black youth of America are being inflamed about our past and that it is by design. Ensuring that they are angrily passionate about what happened to their forbears will ensure a vote for the Democrats.

    I believe that.

I want us to come together but we never will if the past is dredged up. And white guilt is clearly fully developed and we will be swept up in it; regardless of the depth of it's harm to the union as a whole. People want to believe it's good for our country, but hate is never good.

    Never.

Yep, and yet so many believe themselves to be incredibly smart. As I once heard George Will say, the millennial generation (which to a great extent is synonymous with the white liberal) is not uneducated. It is mal-educated. It knows a lot that isn't so. Very high on false information and very low on wisdom.

This is tribalism at work. We align with our various tribes - racial, ethnic, religious, etc., because we feel like we can trust those within our tribes more than those outside of them. However, a key principle of American success as a multiracial, multi-ethnic, and multi-religious society is the ability to set aside or at least subordinate traditional forms of tribalism to a much broader tribe organized around common values, principles, and culture. (By the way, that also illustrates the difference between patriotism and blood and soil nationalism.) Our system works when we encourage this. It falls apart when we go the other direction. That's why things like multiculturalism and resisting assimilation of immigrants are dangerous.

It is horrifying, but we don't do anybody any favors when we don't look at context and what we've done to try to fix the situation. We practiced slavery, and it was terrible. However, was it uniquely bad in human history? No. Nations and tribal groups have enslaved each other and killed each other for conquest and economic benefit for millennia. However, most who commit such atrocities don't give a crap and never try to make things right. That is what is unique. Sadly, slavery and oppression are normal. Freedom and reconciliation are unique. We lose sight of that a lot when our people self-flagellate.

I don't believe they truly want to atone, and they can't atone. The wrongdoers and the victims are long dead, and trillions have been redistributed over the years anyway. Nobody is atoning for anything. However, they are holding themselves out as morally and intellectually superior. In other words, it is a form of selfishness.

Two reasons for this. First, the Democratic Party has learned a lesson from its past. Assimilation kills party loyalty. They held a firm grip on Italians and Irishmen. However, as those groups assimilated, that grip weakened, and now it is mostly gone. That's why it is in their interests to make sure blacks and Latinos stay as culturally unassimilated as long as possible. The last thing they want is them identifying as Americans first.

Second, tribal anger is a very effective diversion. When black voters and other groups that are loyal to the Democratic Party are angry, they ignore areas in which the party is failing them or opposing their beliefs. Keep in mind that blacks are largely religious, but they embrace a party that ridicules their faith and views it as a crutch for stupid people. School districts and cities where blacks have substantial populations are almost universally run by Democrats, and most of them are a mess if you're not wealthy. And all of that is overlooked because of rage.

Wisdom... yeah... it's the age of peer-reviewed studies as anecdotal evidence, common sense, a life-time of experience etc. cannot be controlled politically.

Pence said today at CPAC that they should have made building the Wall the center-point of the 2018 elections and, if they had, they would have held the House. I tend to agree. Unfortunately, Paul Ryan did not. What a dumbass he turned out to be.

JF, they should have got the funding for the wall on day 1. That was the most high profile promise Trump made, and then they sat on it for 3 years. That is on Trump. Not Ryan. Sounds like the White House wants to use the Wall as a political football more than doing the thing. I am fairly neutral on the wall, but that was a huge mistake by Trump.

Ryan got a big head after Romney picked him to run as VP. He was a decent congressman prior to that.

That is not factually accurate. The story has been out there for some time. There are even photos of Ryan scurrying to and fro the WH. He and Mitch laid out their plan and the order things needed to go, said give us this and this first, and then we will get you this, no problem. Trump took them at their word. They were, after all, the "experts" in the "legislative process." But they farked him.

Now if you mean it is on Trump for trusting Ryan and falling for his bullshyte, then OK we agree on that.

It's weird to me that she complains about divided loyalties. She's a congresswoman from Minnesota whose only goal in Congress seems to be weighing in on the Israeli-Palestine debate and calling for sanctions on Iarael. Maybe that's just the top-of-mind issue for Minnesota Somalis.

Any Liberal who is surprised by this should not be allowed to vote. Of course she has a "balanced" (to be kind) view of what is happening in the Middle East and Israel in particular.

Cruz and Rubio support the resolution because they are probably rapturists. Right-wing Christians are Israel's greatest ally. Prophecy demands that Israel be a nation-state doesn't it? As for the Left, maybe she's correct about the money. Are the people on the Left rapturists or just the beneficiaries of PAC money?

Of course the Left was against the move of our embassy to Jerusalem. That was because they knee-jerk hatred towards Trump. So was their opposition to this anti-semitic?

Prophecy doesn't require an Israeli nation-state. But to dispensationalists, like me, it is a tantalizing fact.

But I do think US foreign policy is a little too pro-Israel in some ways. Israel does harm Palestinian Christians so there should be more balance on the subject than there is.

Sounds a lot like a quote Ronald Reagan said.
“It isn’t so much that the liberals are ignorant, it’s just they know so many things that aren’t so.”

When I hear these quotes it makes me think about the liberals.

“Life is hard, it’s even harder if you are stupid”
    John Wayne

    Or

“It’s hard to win an argument with a smart person, but it’s damn near impossible to win an argument with a stupid person”.
    Bill Murray.

Not being a biblical scholar I am willing to defer to you; so you're saying there is no prophecy that links the end of the diaspora in the form of the Israel nation-state with the rapture?

The thing about AOC is that there is this aura of her being a mad genius for some reason. She's not always right but never in doubt. Her arrogance and self-assurance is off the charts. I don't know how someone that inexperienced can be so cocky but she is judging her status on a different level I guess. It's part that guys want to boink her and all the attention she's getting on social media. Sometimes it reminds me of Trump. If attention is the name of the game in politics then they have both mastered it.

I actually disagree with the notion, but a pretty large percentage of evangelicals believe that Bible prophecy points to Israel being restored as a literal kingdom with a literal king in Jerusalem, and that will then trigger the "last days."

Most of them believe in some sort of rapture where Christians are caught up, then stuff happens, then Jesus comes back with the saints. In some cases that return is intended to start that Jerusalem kingdom.

I find that inconsistent with other pretty clear teachings in scripture about the nature of Jesus' kingdom, and my rule of biblical interpretation is that you never overrule clear teaching with apocalyptic language prophecy where interpretation may not be so clear.
