One juco transfer who came in this Fall has left. I think she saw all those ex-Ducks and figured she wouldn't get much playing time. I'm wondering when other shoes will drop as well.

Hope Patty’s vote is good locker room material.

Elish loses her perfect game in the 4th with a hard single up the middle...but 6-4-3 erases the runner. On to the bottom of the 4th...Horns up 4-0

V.V. Impressed the with the debut of Longhorn Softball. Two consecutive run-ruled games? When was the last time Texas even came close to that?

And the Oregon transfers are all they were touted to be.

I looked over last year's record. I counted 5 games where Texas run-ruled their opponents....out of 59 games. And 3 game into the season, 2 run-ruled games. Getting excited this might be like the days of Blaire Luna (solid pitching) paired with good hitting and aggressive base running (Hoagland, Stephens, Ogle, Thom, Washington) in 2013.

UPDATED: In 2013, on their way to the final 4 of the WCWS they won 13 games via the run rule.

The hitting is one thing (3 out of 4 games by run rule this weekend) but they only gave up 3 runs (only 1 earned) in 4 games. Very impressive debut for Coach Whites 1st UT squad.

Saw some aggressive base running today. That reminds me of the "old" days when our base running was so aggressive it got into the heads of the opposing pitchers and their infield.

Also, now we have two solid starting pitchers with the third-day pitchers a mish-mash of Adams or O'Leary. Feeling good and hope to see more in the upcoming tournament in St. Pete.

Wonder what White's philosophy is regarding pitchers? Does he use more than 2 starters?

I sure did like what I saw this weekend. Didn't make out to any of the games, just too cold, but sure did enjoy what I saw on LHN. This team is going to be fun to watch!

And UT run-rules Cal, 10-0. Holy smokes, this would be the second game I've seen them perform a double-steal of home.

    Me Likey!

I've been wondering how to quantify what I've been saying about this year's team other than, "Wow, this team is good" and "Man, this team is going to be fun to watch this year". So, I went to the UT web site and downloaded some stats and put it into a spreadsheet. I'm not a softball/baseball stat nerd. I just picked up key offense and defensive numbers that were easy to put into a sheet and sum up. [sorry, you'll have to click on images to enlarge]

I'm not sure I've got the "juice" to keep charting the rest of the year, but maybe.

The all-orange unis with the orange shoes look hot. I wish they would wear the orange hats the coaches wear to compliment the look.

I don't know where this team will end up at the end of the year, but it's sure nice to be able to be excited about softball again. At least it counteracts some of the disappointment with women's BB.

Horns are now 15-1, with wins over Wisconsin (5-1) and Arizona State (11-4). Another stat comparison:

Good and bad news today on Day 2 of the tournament at ASU. Good news, Texas wins it's 8th game via run rule beating Princeton 15-2. Bad news, they fall to Wisconsin 3-1 in the 9th inning where they went to international tournament rules and started placing a runner on 2nd base starting in the 8th inning.

But, they put up their stats pretty quick and here is the next 2018 vs 2019 cumulative comparisons:

I know everyone is thrilled with the Oregon transfers and the impact they are having on the team, but where did this Bekah Alcozer come from?! He's turned into a hitting machine!!
