This makes me sooo sad. Holly resign and they should go after Becky Hammon.

Once worked for a CEO who said that executives never know when to leave, that they always think they can fix things - customer and board unrest, financial loss, etc. Coaches are of the same mindset. Holly should have left the season after Pat's death (2016-17), walking away with her legacy intact, and letting someone else manage the transition into a new Tennessee era. Today's high school stars were Little Dribblers when Tenn last won a championship. None of us like to give up significant and emotionally fulfilling parts of our life, but ... circle of life, etc. :whiteflag:

Thanks - BTW, that CEO happily left on his own terms.

Watching Alexa Middleton during the Big 12 Tournament, I couldn't help to think "Man... she's sure making Tennessee look foolish for not playing her enough to keep her around."

I suppose it's all about whether or not playing and coaching styles are a good fit. You'd think that would all be identified during the recruiting process and before signing day. :idk:

The wbb fans on the Vol Nation site have been clamoring for Holly’s scalp for the past two seasons. Several have convinced themselves that Mulkey hinted during the presser after the Big 12 final last night that she was thinking retirement and are all excited to lure her to Kville for a few years to “right the ship” and bring the program back to prominence.

Just scanned the VolNation boards - phew. We Horn fans are tough, but some of those folks are delusional. They pretty much expect Pat to rise from the dead and lead the team to a national championship! Holly was right there with Pat all those years, they seem to forget. Reminds me of our fans calling for Saban to take over football - many seem to think $$$ is the key to getting a top coach. Whatever happens, I hope there is a graceful and professional resolution.

And it takes a good coach to identify a player's strength and put her in a position to use those strengths in a team game. She was excellent during the Big 12 tournament.

I am kind of rooting for Holly. She's probably not the best coach in the world, but I would like to see all those Lady Vol posters have to eat their words, and I like Holly's personality. (Obviously I am not rooting for her when they play us.)

Curious as to what y'all think about Evina Westbrook's comments about the coaching staff after their game yesterday. Personally, I don't like the look of a player making such comments. Problems or not, it shouldn't be aired in public like that. And this is JMO.
Also, I'm not posting this for comments or negative reactions about Aston. Strictly discussing this interview.

Seems it might have been a setup by the reporter, but yeah, she shouldn’t have commented...

So you think Holly should be fired? And, you think it's okay for her player to throw her under the bus? I'm just looking for opinions, so no beef here. Do you think Westbrook should transfer?

It's obvious that there are big problems at Tennessee. However, I agree with Empress Davenport's response to Westbrook's comments.

I think that unless Holly makes changes she should be fired. I don’t have a problem with players speaking their minds about the coaching staff after all they’re getting paid. I also think Westbrook should do what’s best for her.

I don't know. To me, it seems like Westbrook feels kinda superior to her coach. And, I don't agree with that kind of attitude. I could be completely wrong, but that's how it comes across to me.

We don't know whether Evina and other players have taken other steps and has not seen any positive action from following the normal steps. The other thing is there is usually some type of training on how to respond to questions. Was that provided?

Her answers are pretty vague to me. Frustrated, yes. And we all do well under those circumstances, right?

It wouldn't surprise me if changes happen nor if people bounce, whether or not changes happen.

personally, I think it's more productive to focus on our own problems. Tennessee isn't the only team that got knocked out in the first round. And their "poor" program has beaten us two years in a row. Other fan blogs around the country aren't real respectful of U.T. either right now.

What I was FOCUSING on is the video of a player IMO being disrespectful to her coach(es). I've never seen a player do that, and I would've posted it for opinions no matter what team it was.

So, the posters who claim to get upset about not being able to express their opinions on this board are now trying to censor others from posting THEIR opinions about the Tennessee situation? Classic hypocrisy at its best.

I was wondering when this was going to be posted on our board. My momma said home business stays at 5643 N Ash St.. My home address when I was a kid. However if we feel threatened, scared, afraid in harms way and nothing at home is working go for help. I believe Westbrook is crying for help. I also believe the wiser, manipulative, sneaky reporter baited her into this. They had just lost. Emotions flying everywhere. Frustrated beyond repair. Why did the coaches allow the reporters in the locker room? Where were the coaches? Where's the PR person?

She was frustrated and spoke her mind. I don't have a filter so I completely understand at 20 or 21 yrs of age I would have giving the reporter what they wanted. My moms wisdom would have flown out the window. And I would have said but mom he asked me. Mom would have replied Baby sometimes you have to take the high road and keep you mouth shut.

On that note Westbrook did try and not answer but the reporter kept asking the same question in different ways.

I dont think she was being disrespectful. I think she got caught up in her emotions and her frustration led her to respond. Was it a better way to express herself? Yes. But we all have let it out and didnt exercise political correctness.

I certainly agree that it was a bad time for an interview. But I've also seen on twitter that it is a normal thing at TN for reporters to be in the locker room after a game. I don't know if that happens with every team, but she should've known it was coming.

I know she was frustrated and spoke her mind, but what happens now if Holly keeps her job? Has Westbrook caused some friction between the two of them? Does Westbrook need to transfer because of the words she used?

Again, I'm just looking for opinions about it. Thanks for your take on it @cynt

    Empress Davenport has an opinion:

Watching parts of this game, my gut said Westbrook already had one foot out the door. Time will tell.
