Wish I had a dollar for every time an announcer says that JH should get under the basket ... or the ball should be worked in to the Bigs ... Oh well, softball just run ruled ISU with a no-hitter and a grand slam by the pitcher ... :hookem:

That's a rough way to finish the season.
Time to start getting ready for next season.
But that second quarter was a thing of beauty.

Another disgusting coaching performance. The game plan to beat IU was so simple, just don't turn it over, shoot, rebound, put back, win. But what does this team do? More turnovers than shots in the 2nd half.

Are turnovers a coaching issue or player execution issue? It’s maddening as a fan to see Texas almost always has a size advantage but never seems to take advantage of that.

Babhorn I understand you wanting to be positive, but I'm sorry....I just don't see how outscoring them 20 to 6 was a thing of beauty. We should be scoring 20 plus each quarter against a team of this caliber on a consistent basis. 23 turnovers against a weak/mediocre at best team. This team doesn't have a clue in half court strategy or execution and I'm sorry, but that is COACHING. I hate to tell yall, but I just don't see it getting any better next year. THREE McDonald's All Americans in your starting lineup, a graduate transfer senior in Williams, plus two more McDonald's All Americans on your bench and you can't even win ONE game in the NCAA tourney!!!

That's what happens when you keep trying to run the same offense against a defense that has made adjustments. Oh well...

A disappointing loss to end a disappointing season. Again, the turnovers have been a staple of Coach Aston’s teams. Coach please go and hire an assistant coach for the offensive side of the court.

Pretty embarrassing. Reached the Elite Eight in '17; lost in the Sweet 16 in '18; knocked out in the first round this year. Downward trajectory.

Landers - "Indiana stayed with the game plan." Lobo- "Amazing that Texas outrebounded IU by 21." Kinda sums up our year, doesn't it? Ah, well, next year. Tomorrow I'll go watch 2 well-coached teams (TCU and UTA) play hard in the NIT.

Embarrassing once again losing to a less talented team. Same problems at the start of the season, 23 turnovers. It's as if the team has never worked on post entry passing.

    7 years is enough. #FireAston.

That was bad --- not a very fun season. They killed us with those drives to the right side. It looked to me like they had screens sometimes and other times our players just didn't move their feet and got beat to the basket. If we had gone to a zone, they wouldn't have been able to drive on us that way. (Of course, they may have beaten us from outside.) You know it's not a good season when you almost dread the games. Hoping for better next year.

Oh I don't think Aston will be fired, but it sure will be interesting to see if any of our current players put their names in the transfer portal. I CAN tell you one thing for sure...... the days of us getting elite recruits is coming to a close. WHY would any top ranked player want to come to Texas and play in this type of system???

According to ALL the elite coaches who recruit said players, including the ones we have now..... Sedona, Joyner and Collier were ALL courted by UConn, Notre Dame, etc. Obviously, Geno, Muffet, Vic Schaefer saw their upside and wanted the opportunity to DEVELOP them. Something that is simply not happening at Texas. Being a McDonald's All American is confirmation of a consensus by a number of knowledgeable people that you are an ELITE player with tremendous potential on the next level.

Even JoAnn Allen Taylor was recruited by Notre Dame. I think I trust the talent evaluation capabilities of Geno, Muffet, Tara, Vic, Kim, etc...

Being a McDonald’s AA doesn’t mean anything. I want the best players to come to Texas but I also think there is a balance. IMO Coach Aston was looking strictly on stars over the last couple of years and it ended up hurting her. It’s also interesting that you named two players that are freshmen and one didn’t play the entire year although Joyner certainly hasn’t developed.

If she had ANY pride, she'd fire herself. She is, by far, the weakest coach in the conference and ought to be embarrassed over wasting the talent that she doesn't run off.

McDonald’s AA, or Burger King AA the bottom line is Texas needs improved coaching and some DOGS on the team.

Tell that to UConn, South Carolina, Stanford, Notre Dame, Baylor, Louisville and all the other elite programs in the nation. :lmao:

So you know more than Geno, Muffet, Vic, etc.??? All of them wanted Joyner, Collier, Sedona, etc. Joanne was recruited by Notre Dame and South Carolina with offers. For you to say that "being a McDonald's AA doesn't mean anything" is ridiculous. Again, that honor is a CONSENSUS by ALOT of very knowledgeable basketball minds that you are one of the top 20 or so in the nation. While these decisions are not infallible, most coaches would do anything for the opportunity to coach and develop what we have right now.

The point is just like Bobcat you’re bringing up Freshmen. It would make more sense if you brought up Joyner or the litany of players on the roster that have been in the program more than one year that haven’t developed according to you.

McDonald’s AA doesn’t mean anything. Endyia Rogers wasn’t a McDonald’s AA and she most certainly will end up being better in COLLEGE than some that are. Texas WBB just like football has a long history of players being on AA teams in high school because they’re going to Texas but a lot of them really weren’t at that level coming out of high school.

Of course there will always be those players who were not ranked that high or who did not make the McDonald's All American team that will become fantastic players on the collegiate level. However, those same McDonald's All Americans were also ranked very high by Hoopgurlz and others. Once again, there was a CONSENSUS among very knowledgeable basketball minds, including elite coaches, that these were the best players. The scholarship offers from elite programs reflect that consensus.

McDonald’s AA are irrelevant once you get to college. There are usually 5 players that are program/game changers Like Durr, Collier, Brown. Or the 10 that are really good that all go to the same handful of teams each year. After that it’s about being able to identify players that will fit your system.:idk:
