Congratulations to Tech. Hell of an effort and a great year. Best of all, Beard May still be in play for us.

Too bad. Tech just kinda went cold down the stretch in OT

is it wrong for me to say I'll hate #5 from Virginia for the rest of my life? JK, but that guy (no pun) irritates me somehow...

That "scrappy" Tech team was just about a National Champion. This game could have gone either way. Virginia wasnt a better team. But they got the win tonight.

Great run for Tech. Made Texas and the Big 12 proud.

UVa was able to adjust to Tech's defense better than Tech could adjust to UVa's defense. The scoring droughts at the start of both haves were killers for Tech (now back to Tceh).

Great run by Tech, UVA just seemed destined to win, every time they needed a big shot or a call to go their way, it happened. Sometimes it is just meant to be and UVA winning it all just seems like one of those times.

Sure helps when you make free throws. 11 in a row down the stretch.

First you actually have to call the foul so Tech could shoot some....

Amigo, it’s in poor taste to brag about our recent title while our fellow Texans are grieving.

Tech really had a couple of important calls go against them in OT. The biggest may have been the phantom foul called on Tech when they were leading by 3 and the Virginia guard tripped over his teammate and fell out of bounds. Tech players clearly made no contact, but UVA got two free throws instead of Tech having the ball with a 3 point lead. There was a lot of time left in the OT so who knows how the right call would have affected the game. The second obviously was the ball being knocked out of bounds by UVA and them getting the ball (the prior contact was probably a foul but that had been allowed all game). The hand is part of the ball and the only touching of the ball by Tech was due to it being in his hand. If that had been a blocked shot by UVA where the UVA player hits the Tech players hand while on the ball and not the ball therefore Tech is the last to touch the ball it would still be Tech's ball. UVA got the benefit of close calls all tournament long. It wasn't on the level of Duke calls but in the same area code.

Yeah, Virginia might not even be there if they had called the double-dribble in the previous game.

I was at the Final Four games. Think Lubbock must have almost been empty by the sheer number of Tech fans. They really were loud. Electric environment.

I’m no basketball guru, but Leading by three with 20 something seconds to go, i’ll bet Dean Smith would have ordered a 2 shot foul after Va. crossed half court. Virginia was shooting 3-pointers lights out. I knew the game was headed for over time.

I hear ya. Wasn't trying to act cocky. I was teasing about the NIT.

I originally stated how the Cavs could never pull away - Tech was scrappy, but a few took that wrong.

It was weird. I was rooting for Tech to get to Final 4, but once they made I just couldn't do it. At one point I almost did. I told my wife I didn't understand why Mooney didn't take advantage of his mismatch with UVa's #0? But once he finally did, I was worried.

Anyway, apologies for coming off like an insensitive jerk. You know me, thats not how I roll. Hell, I listen to Air Supply. :idk:

So the Tech team made it as far as the Phi Slamma Jamma teams with Olajuwon and Drexler....

Turns out appropriate that Lubbock already had their celebration.
