I’ll miss Nell’s commentary during the wbb games. I expect her maturity and steady hand are just what the Georgia Tech program needs right now. Perhaps the players currently seeking to transfer will give her a chance and stay for another season.

With the right hire, UNC could be (should be) contending with Louisville and ND in the ACC. The UNC AD just needs to make getting the best coach a priority. I’m sure Waltz and Muffet were very comfortable with Hatchell as the coach.

I'm wondering if they may be interested in interviewing UNC WBB legend Charlotte Smith. :e-thinking:

She was always supposed to be the successor when ever Hatchell retired.

Agreed. North Carolina is one of the best jobs in the country and with the right coach will easily be a power.

I haven't read this board in a few days. I'm truly shocked at Nell Fortner. She seemed to enjoy her media role so much. I wonder why Georgia Tech? They've never had that much success in WBB. Having lived in Atlanta 14 years, though, I can say it's a great place to be --- better than the backwoods outposts of so many good teams.

I always wondered why Fortner was not hired instead of Aston. With the Texas ties, to me it was a great fit. For some reason, the powers didn’t pursue her. Does anybody remember why? For sure she is knowledgeable and personable and experienced. Will miss her on the broadcasts. Hope she does well.

Do you know for sure they didn't pursue her? I've always wondered.

I like Nell be she’s a more extroverted Coach Aston in terms coaching philosophy.

Another Texas Tech assistant coach. Stollings is going after experienced assistants.

    Women's Basketball / April 22, 2019

LUBBOCK, Texas – Alysiah Bond, a highly respected coach with national recruiting ties, has joined the Texas Tech program as an assistant coach, Lady Raiders' Head Coach Marlene Stollings announced Monday.

"We are thrilled to welcome Alysiah to the Texas Tech family. Alysiah is a proven winner who has worked alongside some of the best in women's basketball including the late Pat Summitt at Tennessee," Stollings said. "She has one of the most infectious personalities in coaching and brings an extraordinary ability to build relationships and elevate student athletes both on and off the court. Her decision to come to Texas Tech will enhance the future of our program."

As a seasoned veteran, Bond joins the staff after four seasons at Michigan State where she helped the Spartans to three NCAA appearances and a Top 25 ranking in three of her four years. During her time in East Lansing, Mich., Bond helped sign one McDonald's All-American and a Top 10 recruiting class. Bond also coached a Top 10 WNBA draft pick in Tori Jankoska.

Interesting hire by the Coale and the Sooners of Jackie Stiles as AC. She was at Missouri State on Kelly Jolly Harper’s staff. When Kelly was named the new HC of Tennessee, many speculated that Stiles would take over at Missouri State as she was a standout star and graduate of that school but that didn’t happen apparently.

According to ESPNW, North Carolina State has given women's basketball coach Wes Moore a new six-year contract. Athletic director Boo Corrigan announced the deal Thursday. Moore will make $750,000 per year under the deal that runs through 2025. The Wolfpack are 140-58 in six seasons under Moore, with a 63-33 record in Atlantic Coast Conference play. They reached their second straight Sweet 16 this season and were ranked No. 9 in the final Top 25 poll. Moore ranks second to the late Kay Yow on the school's career wins list.
