Yes, I have noticed that and I think they are taking a big risk of a serious knee/leg injury which could crater their chance to play in the NFL. But, what the hell, it's their life and choice. However, I don't want to hear about them sueing some school because they were injured and their ability to football at the next level ended. They need to be held accountable for their decisions.

I've noticed that for last 2-4 years and I wondered why the coaching staff did not enforce the use of them.

I don't like it at all at the HS level. At the college and pro level, the NCAA / NFL might consider putting out a memo before the start of a season saying we're going to start enforcing this obvious uniform violation. A player will pulled out of the game until he puts on knee pads--that cover his knees (and thigh pads). Our WRs and DBs might be very slightly slowed, but so will everyone else's.

Not sure if you guys remember, but it was only a few years ago when we had a couple of guys get pulled by the refs for uniform violations.

I believe one or both of the ones that I remember were for the knees being exposed.

It was the very first offensive play of the season! At Fed Ex field, running out Colin gets told by the ref after breaking the huddle. Delay of game.
Way to start a game, a season!

I dont remember that, but I can't fault the refs for doing their jobs. As long as they enforce it on both teams and consistently.

Just based on casual viewing, I'd estimate that more college WR than not don't wear knee pads and/or wear the bottom of their pants above their knees during games.

OB says Zach Evans will probably be in Austin for the JMBLA May 4th weekend. His (pro-Texas) brother will be out of town, so one of his coaches will drive him if he does show. Would be a good chance to spend a weekend with OL Chad Lindberg and the OL commitments

    WorsterMan SEC here we come!!

Good question. I thought I heard or read somewhere the NCAA implemented some recent rule changes that would ban the shortened pants?

TFB had a recent break down of our 2020 LB recruiting. They think we will sign three or four in this class. They currently have Brennon Scott (Dallas Bishop Dunne) and Prince Dorbah (Dallas Highland Park) as 'Texas leans" and they think we are going to start pushing harder for Damian Sellers (6'4,235) of Scottsdale who is a teammate of Kelee Ringo.

Another possible is LB/S Kourt Williams (6'1,216) from Bellflower, CA. He was the SPARQ champion for the LA Opening Regional. We have not offered yet.

    Damian Sellers, Saguaro, Outside Linebacker

Kourt Williams, St. John Bosco, Outside Linebacker

IMHO NCAA should implement and enforce such a rule. Enforcement might even inure to the very slight benefit of teams (like us) who have bigger WR and DB. My thinking here is the football speed of bigger WR and DB might be (very slightly) less affected than the smaller guys. Then again, it could be a negligible, or non-existent, relative advantage for the bigger WR and DB

To state the obvious I think this young man is the center piece of the class.
He is so fast and smooth to, and through the hole. Reminds me of Jamaal. He can hit second and third gear in very few steps.
He will make missing on the backs last year worth it imo.

I remember playing ball in pads in high school. The knee pads did not slow me down. In fact I was faster in uniform but I think that was because of game action and determination. I remember thinking that these knee pads didn't offer that much protection except for getting a skinned up knee which could more easily happen when practicing on dirt fields. A knee injury is going to happen if it is hit the wrong way even if your wearing a pad..maybe those knee braces might offer more protection. I don't know i never wore them.

Nice film. Like a mini-Eric Metcalf. I'd say he's got the quicks real good. His 200 time is listed (not sure when you'd run 200 yards on a football play), but I'd bet his 40 time is also exceptional. Great acceleration, change of direction, and field vision. Could also be a return man.

Now for some random filppant remarks re the acronym "APB" = All Purpose Back, Athlete Punter Ballplayer, Aerial Pass Blocker, Athletic Punt Blocker, All Pro Back, Any Place (in the) Backfield, and my favorite: Ain't a Probable Benchwarmer.

I like this kid and hope we land him, but... reading the tea leaves here, OU is listed above us and with a "DNA" comment. Lots of work and convincing to do with this one.

Is "gold blooded" with the little bumble bee cartoon supposed to be the Georgia Tech Yellowjackets? If so, an unusual choice to lead the field unless there's family or childhood connections. Maybe the GT coaches were all over him before the big boys took notice.

I love his highlight tape. Not only good vision to the hole and beyond, but great acceleration and even though his is not a big power back, I did not see any arm tackles bring him down.

Really good balance to go with speed and quickness. We need this kid. With him the seasons of no TD play beyond 50 yards are OVER. :hookem2:

I played in the trenches in HS. Almost every play had some form of collision, hits from sometimes unpredictable angles, smashing, pounding, and physical brute force. I always wore knee pads (and thigh pads). Maybe WR and CB these days don't feel the need for them? I would be astonished if any linemen, LBs or RBs play without them. A facemask to the knee could leave a very painful ding.

Whole-heartedly agree. His film is fantastic. Change of direction + acceleration + reading blockers and field vision + dangerous from the Wildcat formation. I'm seeing 4 stars in this young man's future (if he doesn't have them already). I don't care if he's small of stature--he's a big play guy.

He'd fit right into Tom's offense.

    Impressive.
Although I can’t say I blame them, but there’s several young men on that tape not real eager to try and tackle Mr. Milton!
    Size, speed nightmare for defenses.
