John Hagy made a comment regarding how weird aggies are. Said he had a girl from high school living down the street that was normal. She went to AnM and after a semester came to visit back home. Said not only did she turn weird, her family became weird and even their little dog became weird.

You are indeed correct. Robert walked on much to the dismay of Bear Bryant and Alabama.

EJ Holland of 247Texas asked Kenyatta Watson a few questions --

EJ: I walked by the weight room and saw you ran a 4.29. Is that true?
KW: Supposedly, yes. I was running on the track with track cleats. But yes, it’s true. Supposedly (laughs).

EJ: So how fast are you?
KW: Probably like a 4.25, to be honest (laughs). Nah, I’m just joking. But it is a sub-4.3 on a good day when I’m stretched out and everything. Everything has to be on my side.

EJ: And I’m sure the wind is at your back (laughs). But on a serious note, you are spending your entire spring break at Texas. Why did you decide to go down to Austin instead of Cabo or somewhere like that?
KW: I mean, I never really went anywhere like that for my spring breaks, and with Texas being so far away, I don’t really get the opportunity to go out there as much as people that live in Texas. I just wanted to be able to go out there and see what I’m in for. I just want to watch them train and work out and everything like that. I just want to be a part of the team like I will be in the summer.

EJ: I was actually talking to the 247 Georgia writer the other day and told him that Texas was the perfect fit for you because of your length and athleticism and how you’ll be used in a pass happy Big 12. How excited are you to play in a league where you’ll get a ton of action?
KW: Really excited. With the Big 12, you get the ball thrown so much, especially against teams like Oklahoma and Baylor. You’re going to get a lot of chances to get the ball thrown at you. They aren’t afraid to try to lull you to sleep then throw at you three or four times in a row. I’m really excited considering my junior and senior years, I didn’t get too many passes thrown my way. I went something like nine games without a pass coming my way.

EJ: Let’s go back to the recruiting process for a bit. How close did it really get at the end?
KW: Ever since my visit, Texas was always in the back of my mind. Every time I thought about other teams, I would say ‘dang, what about Texas, though?’ Texas was always the team I played with when I played the NCAA video game. When I would go on Netflix, I would watch things on Ricky Williams and guys like that. I always thought I wanted to go to Texas. Going there and seeing how nice everything was, it just solidified everything.

Great concept. I wonder if more recruits from all over will do this.
    Young man is obviously committed.

"@CoachTomHerman said early enrollee freshman LB De’Gabriel Floyd (stingers/neck) has been shut down for spring football and will continue to be evaluated. Clearly a serious, potentially long-term situation"

    Bummer for this kid...

I, like everyone else, have high hopes for Floyd so this is a real bummer to me. We wish him the best for his personal life as well as for football career. I myself had some kind of spine injury that happened about 35 years ago but I am doing fine but I never played this level of football either.

I make it a point to never count on a freshmen so I just want Floyd to get healthy. As long as injuries are kept down we should be okay with him not playing a down.

Between Kennedy Lewis and Tyler Owens we got some real speed coming in 2019. In the words Ron Washington "speed don't slump."

Personally, I think he has the skills to be the second off the bench but I don't know if he will have the size. We will see at the beginning of practice in the fall. I am hoping you are right.

Justin Wells on KENYATTA WATSON II

"When the Grayson (GA) four-star signee started planning his spring break, he noticed it lined up with Texas' spring game. With school work in order, he decided two weeks in Austin with his future squad was better than one.

“It’s been good to me,” said Watson, about this trip. “Everybody has been really cool, especially on the team. They all pretty much treat me like a little brother.”

He’s been consuming everything Austin has to offer and loving every minute of it. He wants to come to Texas prepared, and trust me, he will be.

“The coaches and players been helping me out with a lot especially Coach (Nathan) Vasher, who helps with the DBs,” said Watson. “They’ve basically gotten me caught up with the whole defense so far in the spring in a week and a half.”

After watching a ton of Texas Football practice, he sees a bright future at his school of choice. For a kid with his ability and maturity, his future is on the rise too."

Texas 247 says we are interested in a GT from Florida LB Kylan Johnson. He was from Dallas Skyline and played for Coach Samples (back in 2015)

    Kylan Johnson, Florida, Outside Linebacker

TFP thinks we are in good shape with Florida grad transfer LB Kylan Johnson. We have a spot and we do want.

Speed kills in most sports, and you cannot teach speed.
