is there a history of HP to LSU? That doesn't seem like a fit to me.

Jahari Rogers of Arlington High will be in Austin for his OV on June 22.
TFB thinks ou is actually out of it now and that it looks like its down to Texas and Florida.

No. 1 JUCO ILB Juwan Mitchell (6’1, 235)
From the same school as SSDE Jacoby Jones from last cycle. Is on pace to graduate in Dec, if so then he would have 3 years to play 2. From Butler C.C. linebackers coach Kyle Woodall --
“Juwan is a very instinctual player. He is able to diagnose plays very quickly just based on his instincts. He’s very athletic and is one of the more physical players that we have..... Juwan is very naturally gifted. He has great speed, athletic ability, and understands the game. He loves the physical side of the game and has been a great asset to our defense. I think Juwan is just starting to tap into his potential and is only going to improve. With his natural ability, and being in a college weight room for a winter now, the sky is the limit for him.”

5-star and #1 OLB Sav'ell Smalls will be going out of state as he has now eliminated all in-state schools. But it still sounds like we are a longshot --
"I want to definitely go see LSU. I love what LSU is doing right now. They’re putting together a crazy class. They have a lot of guys from the West Coast in it,” said Smalls. “I’m definitely going to consider all of the Florida schools- Florida State and my boy Tre’Shaun (Harrison, his former high school teammate) and Florida plus Miami. Texas and Texas A&M too, they both have been really talking to me more. Georgia as well, that was a school that I was taking to, but it died down so I’m hoping it’ll pick back up.”
5-star LB Sav’ell Smalls eliminates UW Huskies, leaves door open for other Pac-12 schools

    Obligatory -

How does this work, offering hundreds of schollies that can’t be accommodated? Is an offer pulled once the position is filled/committed?

Baseball, back in the "good ol days," used to get past by offering partials -- like you get an 1/8th, you get 1/3, you get 3/8 and you get whatever % is left. Four players on one schollie.

They’re non binding. Bryan Carrington said it best, there’s a difference from being offered, and recruited.
I heard as an example a mid major offered an ILB with a grade of an 82, a pretty high grade for their roster. The young man waited months, another player with the grade of 88 started to show interest when they offered late.
The player with the 82 called the recruiter, committed, and was told we will get back to you, things have changed.

More on Kourt Williams from Calif here from TFB's Super K --

"Kourt is an incredible athlete, perhaps the most athletic linebacker in the country. I first discovered him at the LA Opening event.

I felt at that time, Texas should’ve offered him.

He has already narrowed his list significantly and taken a number of unofficial visits. He begins his first official visit this upcoming weekend when he makes a return trip to Norman.

I will check with him to see if he plans on taking an unofficial visit to Texas. The last time I spoke with Kourt he did say that none of the schools he’s visited, including the top four or five schools in his mind, have felt like home, just yet.

    So, there is a window.

But either way, I’m glad to see Texas offer another linebacker. Based on the numbers they need to get in this class, more offers make sense."

Inside Texas says we lead with S Chris Thompson, Jr. of Duncanville after his visit.

    Quotes --
“It was the best of my visits to Texas so far. The best part was being able to hang out with people like Josh Thompson, Sam (Ehlinger), Brandon Jones, Caden (Sterns), and many others. They gave me advice to make the process less stressful.” .... “I also hung out with Michael Huff for a little bit, and I saw his lambo. Just the overall correlation of gaining knowledge while having fun was the highlight of the visit for me.”

Referring to the Logan Parr tweet above: "The food was incredible and the memories made will never be forgotten."

Man, that is one big ol' boy, he's just a pup, and I looked him up on Rivals -- 6'4" 278 --- and his pic above doesn't suggest he's just poundage but also a lot of muscle.

Plus, with a couple of years of UT trainer work and that "...food was incredible (food service staff better back up a dedicated truck of stuff just for Parr)...".

UT may soon add to its "DBU" --- "Pancake U" with that offensive line coming in.

Yeah, with these sort of OL recruits + Hand's tutelage, we'll be the IHOP of college football before long.

    (we've been there before)

    "The food was incredible..."

Hard to overstate the importance of this factor to an OL. Everyone from the coaches, players, former players, and chefs plays an important role on this team.

One of my fondest recollections of the post game 2006 Rose Bowl was after the initial hoopla played out the Texas OL walked up to Corso, Herbie, and Fowler (I think) and they were noted as "...here come the big uglies...":

They held their helmets overhead and roared, their stormtrooper whites were streaked with the brown and green of the Rose Bowl playing surface --- in stark contrast to VY's amazingly clean uni (large part by his guile, but also due in large part due to his protection by "the big uglies").

That was one beastly OL. Oh, and a gifted TE.

I remember that OL well. My favorite of the bunch was Studdard. He wasn't the most technically skilled, the strongest, or the most athletic, but he took 'mean and nasty' to a whole 'nother level on the field.

To see something roughly similar among the present day youth, I'd encourage looking at some of the Jake Majors film out there on the web.
