Without the Horns this seems almost perfunctory but the tournament begins today. Three Big XII teams are hosting regionals and two more are traveling to play on road.

    Interactive bracket to follow along:

Big XII went 4-1 on day one with only Baylor losing out at the UCLA regional. SEC went 7-3 with aggy losing to Duke up in Morgantown to fall into losers bracket.

Eeew, Oregon State took a hickey yesterday being the only 1 seed to lose to a 4 seed. I saw Cincy in their conference championship game and they looked pretty salty. The announcing crew said a few times that everyone picked them to finish last this year in conference and that they are huge over achievers. Whatever their coach is doing to improve execution we need to happen here stat!

1 seed UNC had to score two in the bottom of the 9th to win their opener.

Big XII goes 3-2 on day two and SEC goes 8-2. Split of first two Big XII-SEC matchups Tech beats the Gators and Pigs beat TCU. WVU loses at home to Duke and will face aggy in elimination game today. Number 9 overall Oregon State goes 2 and que. Overall number one UCLA loses to Loyola Marymount and will face Baylor in elimination game. Other home seeds in elimination bracket are Louisville, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Stanford, East Carolina and aforementioned WVU and UCLA.

WVU blows a 9-1 lead and loses to aggy 11-10 in an elimination game. Baylor bows out to UCLA. TCU wins to get to regional final against the pigs. Tech and Okie State are already in regional finals so Big XII with three teams into regional finals. SEC with an impressive 9 teams into regional finals.

Texas Tech has advanced to Super Regionals while Okie State will have to face a second regional final and TCU is already down to Arkie early. Aggy lost to Duke again and is out. SEC still has 6 teams left in regional finals and likely will have all 6 in the supers.

Arky beating TCU 6-0 so TCU is done barring a miracle.

OSU losing today put that regional in jeapordy.

Tech may very well be the only Big XII team left after tomorrow.

How bad must we be to be to be the worst team in a conference where only one team makes a super. Come on OSU!

Bad. Maybe one day we will learn what really happened to the team.

Okie State wins their regional and will travel to Lubbock for an all Big XII Super that guarantees a Big XII team in Omaha. Overall number 1 UCLA came out of losers bracket to win their regional. SEC has 6 teams in the Supers and ACC has 4. Pac 12 and Big XII each with 2 the B1G with 1 and 1 mid major East Carolina rounds out super regional field.

With only 5 teams in the tourney, you'd think the committee could have spread the B12 teams around such that none would be playing each other in the supers. The SEC could conceivably end up with 5 teams in Omaha (doubtful, but possible), which would be a disaster for a sport that's already marginalized as having only regional appeal.

I don't believe in spreading teams just to spread them. I want the best teams out there in Omaha and if it includes several from one conference then so be it. I don't know how that marginalizes the sport. I don't watch the games to see conference diversity.

On the bright side the Big XII is guaranteed one spot in Omaha where if they were not playing each other we could very well have ended up with none.

Vol Horn, we're college baseball nuts here in Texas, but the only other part of the country that shares that sentiment is the southeastern part of the US (SEC and ACC country). The rest of the nation could care less about college baseball (too cold up north to field decent teams, and only small pockets of interest on the west coast); it might as well be lacrosse to them (another sport with only regional appeal).

I think Pat Casey wasn't their coach this year....they were led by an interim coach and now Pat Casey is available....

Haven’t been following the supers as I took a fishing trip this weekend to New Mexico but as of late Sunday, Tech, Florida State, Louisville and Vanderbilt are on to Omaha with Mississippi State all but there and UCLA/Michigan going down to wire to see whether overall number one seed is in the CWS. There will be game threes for Arky/Ole Miss and UNC/Auburn tomorrow.

UCLA goes down to Michigan so overall number one doesnt even make it to Omaha. Mississippi State closed out Stanford as well so 6 of 8 teams are in with just the two game three's today left to finish out the CWS field.

So we'll have 4 SEC teams in Omaha this year (Auburn, Miss State, Vandy and the winner of Arky/Ole Miss), just like 2015. Bleh. Bad for college baseball to have that many teams from one conference...

Agree. Should be 2 max. Can be managed in the Regional/Super Regional pairings.

The only way to fix the SEC issue is for other conferences to step up, Auburn went to Georgia Tech and went to UNC and is in Omaha. Mississippi State beat Stanford, Duke took game one from Vandy then couldnt close the deal. The SEC has four teams because it deserves to have four teams and if FSU doesnt go to Athens and then Baton Rouge and upset two SEC teams there would be five. I know its not the in thing to say but the SEC gets its teams tournament ready where as routinely ACC, Pac 12 and Big 12 teams spit the bit. I leave the B1G out because they barely know baseball exists even with Michigan's pretty incredible run through Corvallis regional and now upsetting UCLA.

I had the pleasure of watching Tech's final game against OSU on tv. Tech came from behind in the 8th to take the lead with 2 home runs.

Tech's bullpen was rather depleted, so they trotted out this big dude with a mustache who looked about 40 yrs old (Haveman) to close in the 9th. He hurled high hanging fast balls without much control (to a power-hitting OSU lineup in a game with plenty of home runs). He loaded up the bases with walks (having inherited one runner). He got a pop up out, and some of OSU's best hitters to chase high fastballs out of the strike zone for strike outs to close out the win for Tech. It was something to see. Hope they can take it all in Omaha this year. Wish we'd get back again soon.
