Excellent analogy, that makes it pretty simple to understand , if that is what happened.

This is precisely what happened. The baker has never refused to sell any of his stock cakes to anybody, be they gay, straight, tranny, whatever.

He has refused to use his artistic talents to decorate those cakes with pro homo messages, pro tranny messages, etc. And so the left wants him crucified for it.

If I was a baker, I also wouldn't make a cake with a huge dick sticking out of it. But I am a male, not androphobic, and not discriminating against males.

Ah ... yes ... as of this past year ... thanks to the Feds upping their responsibility to border security. Before that ... Texas has been a "giver." And considering Texas is leading the nation economically ... that's some SERIOUS Fed work on the border.

But to the overall point ... the US is a nation of takers ... taking from the future of our own ... and justifying it.

    PFFT!

    really?

I didn't say anything about Texas, did I? I highlighted that Colorado has become dependent upon the Fed in virtually all aspects ... due in large part to the enormous (extra Constitutional) amount of land in Federal control.

But I appreciate your bedside manner. Way to go.

If we the voters could ever agree to roll back the Federal government this would be less and less of an issue. But instead we vote that they would take over more of our lives.

Yes, but I was referring specifically to the "give" or "take" from the Federal government comments.

It's somewhat of a mixed bag. California is a bigger economy than Texas. There's no question about that. However, Texas has a faster growing economy than California has, and Texas is gaining population faster than California is. For example, Texas is likely to gain 2 or 3 congressional seats after 2020. California is on the cusp of losing one.

Will Texas pass California in population or total economic production? Not anytime soon and very unlikely in our lifetimes.

    Thanks Deez.

Some just padlock. When I said leading ... I meant as top tier group ...

And as Deez precisely identifies, its growing. I hadn’t considered the representation change. If only Texas was growing with citizens from the cloth which made Texas ... but I digress.

The issue of relevance to the OP is that Colorado is doing a header in many categories. If it were not for the Rocky Mountains (drawing folks who seek to be more than entitled potnoggins) ... it’d literally be a land locked California.

What you say may be correct, but what is not a mixed bag is his statement , may I remind you he stated that Texas is leading the nation economically. That statement was not qualified. that is not a mixed bag.

But I believe California ranks in the bottom 10 in fiscal condition while Texas is a little better than average.

Tennessee ranks among top 5 fiscally, yet have low property taxes and no income tax. I’ll take that all day long.

Colorado already is the California of the Rockies. The state has gone down the tubes. As I mentioned in an earlier post, when I was at USAFA in the 60s, Colorado was a nice conservative state - socially and politically. The only liberal blight was CU. Now the liberals have taken over - legalized marijuana, legalized doctor-assisted suicide, just to name a couple of things. And the state voted for Hillary in 2016.

I may go back once more for a class reunion at USAFA, health permitting; otherwise, I don't really care if I ever go back - it's not the Colorado I remember.

How much more bandwidth does 65er want to take on this ...

Alright ... in the point I made with regard to Texas’ economy in the presumption of understanding I literally meant #1 of all 50 States in total product/taxes and ratio of taxes/Fed spending ... I was not precisely correct.

Let’s also not forget how this even became a point in the discussion of the Baker in Colorado ...

Ol 65 takes issue with my declaration Colorado takes more in Federal spending than it sends to DC (which is true) ... then furthermore seeks to cast aspersions on the State of Texas, or perhaps MORE PRECISELY, the citizens of Texas as women-hatin gun toters.

SMH. Really went-out on a limb with the gun-totin part, didn’t ya, ol friend!? Ughh.

Have anything for the OP? Anything regarding the direction of politics in Colorado? Compelling a business to engage commerce with anyone in particular ... of any product in particular?

Or did you just get your feathers ruffled for whatever excuse and decide to start casting slurs on people (not me necessarily) you don’t know from Adams Allfox?

    Link that.

What he said was unqualified, but it wasn't entirely clear even if you take it literally. You assume that "economic leader" is synonymous with GDP. It isn't necessarily.

I’m not sure why we even trotted this road, Deez. But I’ve learned some folks don’t need a reason, they’re “self motivated,”. That must be ol65 ... self-motivated.

or as the owner of the little shop in the little one traffic light Texas town where they hate women and tote guns said about the new push mower that would push itself ... it’s “self-compelled”

I lived in Colorado in the 80’s for a year. Shark is right, it’s pretty much California West. The Cal libs have taken over that state. They’ve pushed into Texas too. I am sure the stats some are mentioning don’t consider types of spending in the state, but
    I don’t know.

deserved that about the poorly thought out on my part, it was intended to be a joke. The main intent that when poster make statements that reflects their biases that are factually inaccurate and not sourced, that should be pointed out with sourced data. I wonder if you see the irony of stating that my comment is "self-compelled".

What exactly do you think it means?

  23. Mr. Deez

    Mr. Deez Beer Prophet

To me it would mean a combination of factors, but what I think doesn't matter. What makes a state or country an economic leader is largely a subjective matter driven by the individual's priorities. For example, many on the Left would put less emphasis on things like GDP and focus on other issues like unemployment and income inequality.

Can you provide some data for the for this observation?

Like I said, it doesn't matter. I'm just one guy with one opinion.

Well, I'm on vacation in Portugal right now, so I'm not going to spend a lot of time researching this. I have too much beer and Port wine to drink to worry about goofy stuff like this.

However, you can start with virtually every Democrat who has commented on the economy since around 1930, give or take 6 months. We could fill a an area code worth of "data" just from that.

Supremes toss Oregon decision against two bakers who refused to baked LGBT cake for two lesbians. Sent case back down in light of the Colorado ruling. They did the same thing in a Washington state case and Washington upheld their ruling and it'll probably go back up to SC. They need to make a definitive decision in this matter.

aight ... I obviously missed that completely. Touche.

I didn't address Texas before you did, though, good sir. I stated Colorado takes more than it "produces" to the Fed. That's a fact. They're sadly not alone and I noted it's a problem for the entire nation as we're stealing from our kids/grand/great grand kids.

saw'll good here in any event. And about to get better.
