A few days late on #77, but click on link for Shearer highlights. Around 1:15 shows one good way to stop an option attack! Shearer was in that short list of DL that really were "unblockable."

All conference 1965 and team captain 1966. My love for the Cowboys caused me not to think much of him (his feud with Roger Staubach made for good press in 1972). Age and wisdom have made me appreciate both he and his brothers as fine representatives of the university.

The Talberts were great Longhorn players.

I didn't like the Redskins either, but they always seemed to have some of the scrappiest, meanest, sometimes undersized, but toughest guys in the NFC in the 70s - 80s (Talbert, Chris Hanburger, Dave Butz--definitely not undersized, Riggins, etc.).

That was a weird weird day. Nothing worked in our favor that day.
I can remember when they blocked an extra point and took it back for a safety getting a really bad feeling. And it just got weirder from there.

Come to think of it, any time the aggys have taken one (in the least 20 to 25 years anyway) its been pretty much a weird, very off day, where nothing works in our favor and it looked like we didn't want to be there. That is what it takes for an aggy victory.

I believe 1999 was the bonfire game. They did not block a PAT and return for a safety. We did after their first score.

Walters is one I think we all had Connor Williams type hopes for, and they just never were realized.

I wish they would have continued to take the player pics from the ground like this. I love these.

Its funny, I always wonder what players are thinking in these and how many shots it takes to get them. I always used to be very impatient with pics just wanting them to be over thinking "geez how many times do I have to do this". Now how many years later I wonder if the players love them as much as I do.

Unfortunately Adam sits between me and the field (seat in front of me) (sort of the same as the quote), I have to look around him to get a see the game when everyone is standing... I can't catch a break.

Pictured here with current defensive line coach Oscar Giles. At 6’9”, he was an imposing individual who played along side with some great defensive linemen (Llewellyn, Patton, and Jeter among others). Somewhat of a free spirit. Team captain 1989.

I arrived at UT campus Spring of 95.
I was waiting for a shuttle bus near Belmont when a bus stopped, and the springs started creaking under the weight of something enormous. The bus tilted towards the bus stop and I remember wondering if it would tip over. Then the doors opened and Leonard Davis stepped off the bus. With each step, the springs creaked some more, and the bus righted itself.

I remember looking at him in awe. Not only was he just a huge human being, but he had no fat on him at all. Just an enormous mountain of muscle.

He was / is an extremely nice, humble guy too, so I have heard.

This guy was a road grader that Ricky Williams ran behind a lot. He also protected Major Applewhite. He was one of the best lineman in 98'.
