The other factor for pay here, is that the US Soccer Federation has to give the players a monetary incentive to play extra games each year. The male players play professionally either in MLS or in Europe. They often have to take time out of playing for the club to play for the USMNT. To do that US Soccer has to compensate them adequately to get them to play. Most players want to play for the glory and ambition, but not all would if the money went away or was significantly reduced to equal the pay.

Some of the women play professionally for clubs but their salary is less so they are incentivized to play for USWNT with less money.

In other words, supply and demand.

Love all the "patriots" dispaying their true colors. It puts the flag and anthem rhetoric in perspective. Like I said all along, this is a TEAM over country mantra. They don't care about the USA but rather an ideology. Remember this the next time one of them urges someone to move out of the USA.

I for one was supporting the USWNT. I doubt Rapinoe represents the whole team's view point on issues. They will support her on some level because they are teammates even if they don't agree. I won't let one out spoken malcontent influence how I feel about a team that identifies with our nation.

Eh...I don't follow women's soccer to begin with. However, without the political posturing, I would cheer them on. After that Rapinoe spewed her nonsense, I couldn't care less. She doesn't identify with me. Her foul language and behavior is no role model for my 9 year old daughter, and I certainly doubt she embraces my conservative views or would even accept that I can have those views, but I should I have to accept her. BS.

Of course, if one of them publicly took issue with her, she would get demonized to no end.

I guess you put a lot more importance on women's soccer than I do. Whether the U.S. won or the Netherlands won, Americans still had to get up and go to work on Monday. Nothing changed, except I had to see Rapinoe's ugly visage all over the news.

And, didn't one of your soccer darlings say, "blind patriotism isn't patriotism at all"?

I actually didn't even know there was a Women's World Cup until a few years ago.

Why would anyone want to watch bad soccer? Isn't it boring enough when it's played well?

I would watch the US play tiddlywinks against the rest of the world and I would argue that the women are talented in their lane. But all of the grandstanding and virtue signaling that goes on absolutely crushes any joy or patriotic feelings I had about the women winning.

Meagan Rapinoe chose to make it about her agenda and in doing so sucked all of the pleasure in watching a U.S. team represent our country in an athletic endeavor.

And that gaggle of fans screaming "f**k Trump" and co-opting the women winning into a referendum and screw you to the president just seals it all up.

Rapinoe has always disgusted me. She is a mediocre player who is a major attention *****. She has usually been a bench warmer. I have no idea (well I have one) why she is suddenly Queen of the Team.
She is old, lazy, slow, and Christin Press should have had her starting position.
She never hardly ever covered her player on defense, leaving Crystal Dunn alone with 2-3 players.
As far as her winning the Golden Boot, that's a travesty. A well taken PK can't be stopped by the keeper. It should be the easiest goal around.
I have disliked her long before all the kneeling, and flag issues. She will always find a way to make everything about herself. Always.
She played terribly in the Final,, but since she hates Trump and loves to shoot the finger and swear in front of her fans that are kids, we should all bow before her.

And her speech about listening more, and not hating. Does she know the definition of irony? I think not. Thank goodness we have most likely seen the last of this hag. She'll be 36 for the Olympics.

I can understand that. Just never understood why anyone gets passionate about any sport or skill being played at a lower level. Like the WNBA - why would I want to watch people play with an arcade game sized basketball? I want to see the best in the world play at the highest level. Hell, I would even be fine with letting women play on the men's team if they earn their spot based on merit. It's just a harsh (and obvious) reality than none of these women have the talent to compete with the men.

There's a reason why men's sports almost always out-earn the equivalent women's sport, and this is it. The only women's sport I can even stand to watch is softball because, hey, it's mostly cute girls in tight pants, and I love baseball. But I do tire of plays not being made that would be routine for any boys HS team.

Funny you say that because girls watch baseball because it's mostly cute boys in tight pants...especially the softball girls.

I get your point, but people do this all the time. I may get bitched out for saying this, but college sports is played at a lower level. College football and basketball are definitely at a lower level than the NFL and NBA. When it comes to baseball, it's an even bigger blowout. College baseball is much closer to high school baseball than it is to Major League Baseball. (Hell, they play with aluminum bats like little leaguers.) Despite all that, people watch and get very passionate about it. I don't, but many do.

If we're being honest, most of us don't mind watching women's gymnastics. We don't seek it out, but we'll watch it if it's on, because it's chicks running around with their chiseled butts hanging out. Think that's not the reason? What happens if men's gymnastics come on? We change the channel immediately. Lol. We couldn't care less.

It’s getting kinda Epstein in here, Mr. Deez. If we’re being honest.

There are two kinds of men in this world - those who will look at a gymnast's butt and those who will lie and pretend not to. Frankly, a gymnast's body has never been what I've been attracted to. Bony thin and flat-chested isn't my style. However, one can't help but admire their butts. They're a marvel of nature. Obviously I wouldn't go full-Epstein, but I can't deny that it takes effort to look away.

I do not take issue with that. If I were not a University alum then I wouldn't care about college sports. I want to see best athletes from Texas play the best athletes from other Universities. I would have no interest in watching a JV college football team even if it was Texas.

However, I will admit to enjoying Women's volleyball from time to time and only in small part because I enjoy the occasional glimpse at their butts. Especially when Lexi Sun used to play for us (Husker should agree).

I know you are unable to recognize it, but your drivel of "team over country" or "party over country" is the exact opposite of what you think it means.

Side comment at this point, but women’s tennis, women’s swimming, and women’s track are the top women’s athletes in my opinion, and I will watch them at equal interest as those men’s sports.

Except the progressivism these 4 practice are fundamentally against the constitution. Strange how he ignored that.

It’s not the skin color, but the corruption that these policies incentivize. Look at PR. Half the senior officials are being investigated for corruption.
