You'd think that since 1941 they would have figured out that you can add more clothing to counter the cold much more easily than you can subtract it to counter the heat.

Man it must suck that a/c has to make things less muggy lol....

Had a cold wave in Katy for a few days. Still hit 90 but humidity at 40% and below - was sooo nice it really did feel like a cold spell. Back up there now, as expected.

I should re-phrase and say you have it nice. While I am writing this, I am having a tanqueray gin in a hotel bar in Kochi India on the company dime. Not too bad.

Isn't it cold as hell during the winter?

Very nice! I've never been to India, but Kochi looks stunning.

I don't think it is. During the winter, the high is usually in the mid 30s to low 40s. The low is usually in the upper 20s or low 30s. We get snow from time to time but not too much of it.

Sounds way too cold for me. It's funny how everybody has their own different views on what's comfortable or not.

Gosh, I thought so many people in this country want to follow the European models of doing things. How could energy possibly cost so much? Shocked, I am.

Ah, my mistake, must be Uncle Sam's fault somehow.

It’s India, which means it’s a work in progress. Traffic is bad (mostly due to new road construction). And for every nice locale, there is a dump down the street. It’s muggy like Houston, but AC is everywhere. The trouble is that once India turns the corner, it will be crowded with tourists.

They buy into climate change alarmism more than just about anybody, and because of their role in WWII, Germany likes to self-flagellate to prove that they are better than they were in the 1930s. The result is that they're willing to take it in the garage by transitioning to solar and wind power at a pretty rapid pace. That costs a fortune all by itself, but couple it with the unreliability of solar and wind (at least for now) and the fact that they're also getting rid of their nuclear power plants, and you have a toxic combination when it comes to utility rates. The irony of it is that to meet demand they are having to back-up all these solar and wind farms with lignite coal, which is filthy. It is insane but much, munch saner than the Green New Deal.

Wind and solar are inherently unreliable. In order to have cost efficient battery storage, Li+ cells would have to be 1% of today's cost. Never going to happen.

If you do, I'm impressed. I have one of those things - a hot wife. No Rolex and no Porsche. I'm not a watch and jewelry guy, and even when I was at the top of my game and income practicing law, I was always pretty modest and practical when it came to cars. I didn't drive clunkers, but I just didn't see the point of blowing a lot of money on something I mainly use to get around.

I was making a classical reference to an old post on LHFZ. Maybe nobody around here remembers and I am just amusing myself.

This from the guy who said "at some point, you have a big enough house." I guess to be fair, he did say "you", not "I".

I remember this happened before. A ship supposedly studying the disappearance of ice at the Artic
a Chinese ship freed it and then it too got stuck in ice.

    4th_floor Dude, where's my laptop?

You'll notice they wait until the weather is cooler before they protest. I'd like to see them out there in mid-August.

They should at least call themselves Green War and be accurate about their plan.
