And here's the 1920 UT band in some interesting 'busboy / bellhop' type uniforms, with fezes for headwear! Copied from another thread:

It makes one think that these could be one-off special uniforms for playing at the Shriners' convention, or something ...?

We changed 'em once, we can change 'em again. It's long past time for an update.

A few years ago, we went to a game in Austin (I live far away). We were walking back to the car and were in front of the band building when they got back from the stadium. They played Texas Fight right there. It was amazing hearing it from ten feet in front of the band.

I miss the band playing Longhorn Victory March and March of the Longhorn. They seemed to stop playing them around 98 or so.

Coming soon... Throwback Saturday, where the Longhorn Band will don the 1920 bellhop uniforms and march from the Driscoll Hotel to the stadium before the game (after helping some customers with their bags of course...).

I personally don’t care whether our band uniforms stay the same or switch to something new—as long as they look distinctive and have some sort of Texas / Western flair to them.

No Nike swooshes, Big 12 logos or any advertising whatsoever though.

Be careful what you ask for. I've noticed that most of the high school bands are now sporting DCI-styled unis.
If LHB followed suit, they could be wearing something like
    [IMG]
(with burnt orange instead of green, of course)
    or
    [IMG]
(I love those throwback pith helmets)
    or
    [IMG]

I love DCI, and have been to a couple of their roadshow competitions. But I don't think that the DCI uni is a good match for the LHB.

The top band looks like pimps. The middle band looks like an 1800s British Empire honor guard.

And if you want something a bit less flamboyant, we could go with something like what the LSU band wears:
    or maybe Purdue
    [IMG]
Just replace the P with a T and put a Bevo head on the shoulder. Not sure about those spats, though.

All of those would be an improvement.

A burnt orange version of something like the Cavaliers uniform (green one, top photo), with our current hats, would be badass.

That could work. But it would have to retain the western fringe on the shoulders, and perhaps the zig-zag stripe on the trousers.

No, no, no, goodness, for heaven's sake, no.
You're describing the exact same uniform we currently have.

I wasn't dissing the Purdue band uniforms; I just didn't think that would be a good look for Texas.

btw, I think the Purdue All-American Band kind of gets overshadowed by tOSU. They put on some great shows and do more with their big drum than just wheel it out onto the field.

Just like there is only one Longhorn mascot ( think how many Tigers , Eagles etc) and only one school with Burnt Orange as color ( think how many have marroon blue or green) Shouldn't the band uniforms stay unique?

It ain't a fashion show. They ain't there to be purty; they are there to play Texas Fight. The Eyes of Texas, March Grandioso, and give me time to go pee and visit the concession stand between the second and third quarters.

I still like why they play Wabash Cannonball
and :lmao: at KSU fans who thought the band was playing it for them.
Actually the reason KSU has it as a fave in an interesting story too

Whatever KSU's story on Wabash Cannonball is, they have nothing to compare with the routine on this song performed by our pom squad / chaps girls!

I agree. The football uniforms should be unique too, something like this:

Or if we're going "traditional", something like this:

    There's traditional, and then there's archaic. There's unique, and then there's god-awful.
A lot of us on this board understand as much when it comes to football uniforms, but can't tell the difference regarding band uniforms.

Can't believe all the discussion about the band's uniforms. They make no difference to my game day experience when I am able to attend. More succinctly, to borrow a phrase, it don't make a ****.

Our football uniforms are unique, original, traditional. Mess with them and get a beach front vacation in Anahuac.

I'd have a hard time thinking of a college band uniform I like less. Maybe Tech.
