I agree Horn6721, California is using red flag laws as a means of confiscation. It is another brick in their wall to keep citizens from having guns.

But I think red flag laws are one of the only ways to involve the people around a dangerous person to intervene with the aid of law enforcement.

A better option would be if families handled it themselves, but if the flagged-person resists giving up the guns, force would have to be used. Without some kind of law the flagged-one could use the law to get guns back if he planned to carry out an attack.

    There aren't any easy options.

Yes if there is a way to write the policy so it can't be used to get back at someone it could be useful . I can see that without law enforcement most families would not take guns from family members,
But I think a year without due process, even for the dangerous ones is too long. Not to give the guns back but to make sure the person is being treated like anyone else accused.

If this gets reversed, will it then be racist because it implies black people can't afford a car or are not smart enough to figure out when it is safe to walk?

    When will it end?

This is just lunacy but is I guess our First Amendment on full display. That this loon has a public persona is scary. It is fitting that he is a buggy person
UT-Austin instructor doubles down on claim that Republicans want 'ethnic cleansing'
"A University of Texas-Austin employee is doubling down on his previous claim that Republicans are "preparing an ethnic cleansing."

In 2017, Alex Wild, who at the time of publication was listed on the university's website as the curator of entomology, tweeted "Trump's 'security' plans are terrible for actual security. But pretty good if ethnic cleansing is the real goal. These people are Nazis."

"Pretty good if ethnic cleansing is the real goal" Tweet This

More than two years later, Wild tweeted Tuesday, "Shortly after Trump took office, I noted that Republicans were preparing an ethnic cleansing. Now, in 2019, I stand by that statement. Their thin, panicky public denials stand in stark contrast to their public messaging. And to the growing body count."

I guess this jerk didn't get the message from Anderson Cooper.
So all you white supremist Nazis on here how are your plans to ethnic cleanse? To paraphrase that Dixie Chick, Just so you know I am ashamed that Ahole has any connection to the University.

Ok this is as much a WTF as my post above
"Huh? California Gov Newsom: ‘Vast majority’ of homeless in San Francisco are from Texas
Politifact California summarizes the governor’s point:

Newsom said most of the homeless people on the street when he left office were not from California, but added “we took responsibility” for them.

He then made the head-scratching claim about Texas.

“The vast majority (of San Francisco’s homeless people) also come in from — and we know this — from Texas. Just (an) interesting fact,” Newsom said.
Politifact California went through a scrub of “point in time” homeless counts in San Francisco, which are done every other year. They determined that between 8% and 16% of the homeless in San Francisco, depending on the year, had come from outside the state of California. The homeless population originating from San Francisco itself varied from 60-70% of the count.

The balance of the homeless were from other parts of California.

The bottom line here is that, even if people from Texas represented all of the out-of-state homeless, they couldn’t possibly be the “vast majority” of San Francisco’s homeless population.

Texans don’t, of course, represent all of the out-of-state homeless. So where did Newsom get his claim?"

Much like so many on the left tend to do, it is an easy question to answer...he made it up. He knows that his followers are too stupid to try and verify the claim and meanwhile, the people with common sense are distracted while the left passes even more idiotic legislation.

    Rand Paul:
"We announced that I was having surgery and thousands of people on Twitter are swarming to wish … that I had either died or that someone would assault me again." The Senator also noted that actor Tom Arnold was one of the people who wished someone would assault Paul again, in a tweet that was retweeted by Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN).

    She's anticipating Israel being destroyed.

Now she says she's not going (after being granted a hardship visa) because …. racist policies, what else.

It was just the Squad attention whoring. They'd been out of the spotlight for a week or two.

It is sort of amusing, but a lot of those stories were far from obviously satire; more like deliberate efforts to fool people with scandalous accusations. Kind of like a balderdash game.

It's the same problem with public education. They have to slow down everything to let the slowest keep up. In the end, it just makes everyone dumber (not to mention probably leads directly to behavioral issues as well). Which gets me back around to my long-standing proposal of an IQ test for voting (along with driving & procreation). If we put it all together, perhaps not recognizing the Bee for what it is would be a nice, simple, inexpensive way to administer the test?

What the Bee is up against is the crazy-*** wild ideas the left comes up with for real. It makes it so that, when you read a satire story on the Bee, you can kinda believe somebody on the left actually said/did that.

Are we to a point where satire must come with a trigger warning?
