It was NOT the UK Parliament. It was the House of Commons only. Such facts must not matter to people like SH if it interferes with their rant.

    I posted the info
The information was posted in real-time as I watched the House of Commons vote.

Here is the BBC analysis (video).

This is the description for the video.

The House of Lords, a largely symbolic unelected body, is expected to pass the House of Commons bill on Friday.

    Uh Husker
You should know Parliament consists of 2 branches, House of Commons and House of Lords. Only the Commons voted on it so far.
    Nowledge is a good thing.

I'm here. While you aregue over semantics I'll focus on deeper topics, like the actual politics occurring in Britain.

Speaking of which, Boris Johnson's bid to call for an election failed. Now the emperor will show that he has no clothes. All the claims of being able to achieve a "better" deal with the EU will prove hollow.

Kudos to the Tory members who had the courage to bot against its party in the best interest of Britain. For those who don't want to view the video above, 21 Tory (Conservative...Boris' party) members voted with the opposition withstanding the threat they were to be expelled from the party. They still voted with the opposition, effectively ending their political careers.

More American politicians should have that sort of courage. Instead, they quietly wait until reelection time and announce they won't run again rather than stand up for principles.

Since you're claiming superior knowledge on UK government intracacies. Enlighten the audience on the difference between the House of Commons and House of Lords. Please make sure to point out that the House of Lords doesn't actually have the ability to stop House of Commons legislation. They can ammend and delay, but they are rather feckless compared to the House of Commons. They are simply a "check" on the lower house. According to the BBC, the House of Lords is expected to pass the legislation on Friday, despite 92 amendments being put forth by the conservatives in the HoL.

Check out the dates. You look desperate to back up SH
But facts are pesky and when SH posted that ONLY the Commons had voted.
I am sure SH thanks you for trying,
    but FAIL

Horn6721 is preening because I misstated Parliament instead of House of Commons. It's a distraction mechanism to avoid the fact that the Anti-No Deal Brexit passed its biggest hurdle. If this were a horse race we'd say it won "going away" as the momentum is clearly going in the wrong direction for Boris.

Of course, in an alternate reality, the one that screams "Fake News" because they don't like reality, DJT had this to say about Boris Johnson's 0-4 record in the HoC since taking over as PM.

That depends. Is the Senate lifetime appointed bureaucrats (nominated by the POTUS) that do little more than rubber stamp the elected officials?

Your mistake is assuming "Parliament" and "Congress" operate simarly. They are both bicameral and that's where the similarities end.

BTW- You still seem to be sidestepping the fact that by EOD tomorrow the No-Deal Brexit will be off the table until at least next year.

    Simple Question, either of you
Can a bill pass without both the House of Commons and the House of Lords voting for it?

I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt and assume you are intentionally acting dense because the other option is not as favorable.

Here is a simple explanation of the role of the House of Lords.

With all that said, in all likelihood the No-Deal Brexit is dead until at least next calendar year.

No read my post to SH after he posted that erroneous statement. I asked him to clarify which he did not do and I have pointed out his error since then.
You want to pretend it was not an error by deflecting.
    It was an error.
Would you LH say a bill had passed Congress if it had only passed the House?

Can a bill become law in the UK without passing BOTH Houses?
    Simple question
    so answer

    Here
How does a bill become a law?
A Bill can start in the Commons or the Lords and must be approved in the same form by both Houses before becoming an Act (law).

Ok...you are forcing me to reevaluate my opinion.

Now, does anyone want to actually discuss the ramifications of what is going on in Britain or should we continue with Horn6721's UK Civics lesson?

You said something which was not factual . I asked you to clarify. You did not. I pointed out your error which is when you started sliding sideways.

    I am done.

Clearly reading comprehension is not Horn6721's strength, along with the proper use of the carriage return.
Of course this was followed with my explanation of why I see the House of Lords as little more than a rubber stamp. The response? Congress is synonymous with Parliament. Someone needs to travel outside the country more.

  30. Mr. Deez

    Mr. Deez Beer Prophet

You're on thin ice here - very thin ice. I'm very pro-Brexit and think what Parliament is doing is foolish and dangerous. They're undermining their own country's negotiating power in an effort to nullify the original referendum. It is anti-democratic and traitorous.

However, what SH is telling you about the process is true, and he's making you look bad. The House of Lords is not an equal or indispensable house of Parliament like the US Senate is indispensable. Furthermore, it is a generally less populist institution. On an issue like Brexit, it is not likely to be helpful even to the extent that it could.
