I notice on 247 there is a notice Texas is talking to 3 Star CB Deuce Harmon. Any insight?

The AAS on 2021 OL recruiting

"The state of Texas is full of beef in the 2021 class. And there are more than a handful of four-star talents, and a couple of five-star prospects, in the state for 2021. Texas landed the first punch when it gained a commitment from four-star Katy Taylor offensive tackle Hayden Conner. The four-star is one of eight pledges for the Longhorns in the 2021 class.

Houston Bellaire Episcopal offensive tackle Donovan Jackson is another four-star talent from the Houston area that Tom Herman and offensive line coach Herb Hand hope to land. The 6-4, 308-pounder was named the offensive line MVP at The Opening Finals over the summer despite being the only 2021 prospect at the position.

    He’s a dom
inant force who could end up as a guard long-term because of his lack of length. ......

The way I see the Oline shaping up if we get all our top targets.

    D Jackson is a Center/Guard
    Haden Connor is a guard
    Tommy Brock is a Tackle
    Savion Byrd is a Tackle
    James Brock is a center

    Other linemen we are recruiting
    Ruben Fetheree is a Tackle
    Bryce Foster is a guard/Tackle

    Out of State
    Nolan Rucci is a Tackle
Jonah Miller is a Tackle or a guard
    Jager Burton is a guard

That's an awesome top 5 and realistic get. Our future o-lines look great.

that would rival the class of beef

From a recruiting standpoint, they would blow away the class of beef. It was a great class, but mostly from a standpoint of being highly ranked in the state. If we get all our top targets it would be 2 5 star and 4 of the top 100 in the nation. The only guy that isn't top 100 is James Brockermeyer. And he looks like a fantastic center prospect. Now that I look at it, there is a strong case that Donovan Jackson is also a 5'star. Still a lot of football to be played for these guys so there will be a lot of moving around. Looking forward to seeing how they develop.

2021 visitors for Okie St per Texas 247 --

LB Marsel McDuffie, South Grand Prairie (Grand Prairie, TX): At 6-foot, 235, the DFW area linebacker brings hat regularly. Might be a defensive lineman in college. Georgia Tech and Baylor have already offered.

LB Trevion Sneed, Mineola (Mineola, TX): The 6-foot-2, 215-pound throwback athlete is singularly focused and that single focus is to play college football. RB or LB, Sneed has early offers from UH, Baylor. Texas, LSU, Oklahoma State, and Tech are in regular contact. He's playing d-end a lot this year, but you can still judge his movement skills while he's at running back. There's some real twitch and physicality but he isn't proving to be the easiest evaluation.

CB Mark Wilson, Clear Lake (Houston, TX): Really underrated corner at 6-foot, 180-pound with early offers from Vanderbilt, Baylor, U of H, and a few others. He is on a lot of boards.

ATH Brandon Epton Jr., Kimball (Dallas, TX): Texas offer Ishmael Ibraheem's counterpart in the secondary, at 6-foot, 185 pounds, he holds offers from Illinois, Houston, and Illinois State. Also plays running back. Reminds of Kevin Shorter from Newton in the 2014 class.

Donovan Jackson was at the aggy game. According to Perroni (aggy) who spoke with him after the game, he was not that impressed with the aggy crowd (not that loud). Likewise not impressed with the aggy OL. Perroni also said he's noticed what Texas is doing with its OL.

I'm good with what is happening in this class, to be honest, both Texas and aggy are going to be really good next year. So getting these guys to believe this year while the ags are sputtering is a good thing. As long as the ags don't screw up a good thing with Jimbo, they will be tough to beat in 22 and 23 recruiting cycles.

I’m wondering what Bryce Foster is thinking after watching them play? Because we could get #1 T Brockermeyer and #3 Byrd at OT, #1 Bryce Foster and move #1 Donovan Jackson (his rank if he changed positions pushing Bryce to #2) at OG, and #3 J Brockermeyer at center. That would be one hell of an OL class.

That’s not even mentioning Hayden Conner who could also play either OT (#22) or OG (#5) if changed position.

Apparently he was ready to commit back when we had that wave of 2021s.
But his mom who is not just an ag but an active member on Texags, talked him out of it

Poor kid, must suck growing up in that kind of enviroment.

Reminds me of the kid who is looking out the window seeing all the other kids outside playing while he is stuck inside at piano practice.

It's a funny mental image of her sitting in the stands in Austin with the other parents cheering for the Horns. Heh. A thought she probably had too, which may explain why he didnt commit back then.

    Time for a campus visit.

It is amazing how any prospect can be oblivious to the burning bag of doggie doo doo that is aTm.

One of the reasons I quit piano as a youngster. Now I wish I had stuck with it. Nice analogy in any event. I think he'll see the light and become a Horn.

Bring out all the guns, and McConaughey, and do the full court press on that mom. Also, apparently our pool parties (moms' invited) are much better than the ags' lame pool parties (although it's got to be funny watching Jimbo get his nose smashed in by a recruit).

AB, until they finish a consistent second in the $EC West they are going to struggle in recruiting. Unfortunately consistently finishing second is going to be hard when you do not have a winning record against Alabama and LSU.
