Astros are 16-1 against the Mariners, most wins against one team in a single season in franchise history.

Another massive tail-kicking yesterday...I was flipping between games and saw it was 13-0 in the third inning. Was surprised to read this morning that it was the FIRST time in team history that they had more than one game in a season where they scored more than 20 runs.

They were already swapping out players before the end of the third inning...and all I could think about, given the bullpen woes, was that game the A's had against KC in the midst of their winning streak featured in Moneyball. I'm just old enough to remember strange happenings with the Astros...although some of those were in places like Wrigley. Some were in the 'dome. But Seattle isn't exactly a bunch of scrubs and I suspect we even have some on HF that could get to the Crawford Boxes.

    Bregman for MVP?

    Mike Trout: .298/.438/.645
    Alex Bregman: .298/.417/.578

Maybe if he stays hot (Breg has .995 OPS) and Trout chills a little? Team beating everyone has to help

So I guess the way we bombed Mike Fiers the last time out was not a fluke.

Have we finally solved the Rangers, possibly?

    At least for this season...

I have to admit that I was surprised at how low some of the ERA's were that Rangers pitchers possessed. They could very well be a challenge next year...

For once the Rangers have 1-4 SP's so that is a positive. The remainder is rather shakey. Realistically, 2021 will be the year the Rangers could do some challenging.

Putting this year in an even stronger light...

They had a stretch where they lost something like 14 of 17 and another losing streak of something like six or seven games. So, they basically have a month where they won 3 and lost 20. THAT is a testament to how head and shoulders they are above the rest of MLB this year...

The Astros went 60-21 in home games this season. In the previous 57 seasons, the best home record was 55-26.

The final six games are on the road, where we are 42-33. The best road record in franchise history was last season, at 57-24.

If the Astros and Yankees end up with the same record and meet in the ALCS, who has the tiebreaker for home field advantage?

    Looks like Houston:
Scenario: Two teams tie for best record in the league or Wild Card

This would not involve any extra games. If the Astros and Yankees finish tied for the best record in the AL, the team with the better head-to-head record (the Astros, 4-3) would get home-field advantage throughout the League Championship Series round.

Good question...looks like they split this year. Astros appear to have scored one more run in the series.

Astros won series 4-3..........thats the tie breaker as Viper pointed out.

That's what I get for trusting google which only showed six games.

Thanks for the info on the tiebreaker. It looks good for Houston as they have a 1/2 game lead on the Yankees and appear to have an easier schedule during this last week of the season. Houston has 6 games left all on the road against Seattle and LAA while the Yankees have 5 games left all of the road against Tampa Bay and Texas. We are all Rangers fans this week.

Just snagged two seats down the right field line at field level for ALDS Home Game 3...it is an 'if necessary' game. Basically $150 a seat...

There are a few other singles that can be found for Games 1 and 2 for those interested and I did see a block of six in one of the field box level sections behind the visitors dugout (roughly $190 per seat).
