Have received an email from the UT Athletic's Office following each of the three home games. Each one included a survey, asking me to rate various aspects of my experience and offer some suggestions. I have been attending UT home games since 1977 and after this latest game vs. Okie State, I responded to the survey, offering the following two bits of advice: 1) Please, please, please, please....for the love of God....please stop the canned, piped-in music each time there's a timeout and let the Longhorn Band play!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They are the heart and soul of a UT football game day atmosphere and you have relegated them to nothing more than an afterthought. 2) Also, please tone down Bob Cole and his over-the-top PA remarks. The incredibly tacky, "Here we go.....," thing he's now doing every time Texas kicks off is reminiscent of something you'd hear at a monster-truck rally or a pie-eating contest. It's embarrassing and, trust me when I say this, Wally Pryor rolls over every time Cole does this. I could have added more, but the two things I mentioned are far and away my two biggest issues with the current game day experience. Besides, who know if these comments will even make it to the desk of anyone who matters or in a position to make any difference. ou Sux! Hook 'Em!
Thank you, sir! I do not pay hundreds of dollars to get a headache from aural assault of the Jumbotron. It is about the team, the live school bands, the fans and everything other than those crappy canned advertisements. I am sure Bob Cole is trying, but perhaps too hard? Have him listen to WP for a year then try again. Maybe he flat does not understand the game?
Light the Tower, I get that survey after every game. Chris does get feedback, and takes action. Your response is far less sarcastic than mine. Chris is doing a spectacular job, but some of his staff are seriously lacking. Keep the surveys coming, we will prevail!
I fill out the survey every time. I tell them to turn the Jumbotron down and to renovate the West Side Upper Deck. It hasn't been touched in 30 years and the rest rooms are hideous. Nailing up some ship lap on the concession stand does not count as a renovation. - Mike
