I think its Demolition Man where a cop is cryogenically frozen and wakes up in the future. The imaging is that that some day we will all wake up living in some form of the current Chinese system. They are our future

And that future doesnt look good for Daryl Morey

This. Corporations don't see themselves as being a "US Corporation that does business overseas" anymore...they see themselves as "Global companies". I work for a very large US bank and I can tell you that this is the way we see ourselves now. We are increasingly putting foreigners in very high positions in the main arteries of the bank, not just high positions within their region. And it shows up in the initiatives we pursue.

I would say this is also tangled up a bit with our massive immigration problem. Even when we limit immigration to people that have high qualifications, what we are really doing is importing people who don't really have America's interest at heart in these deliberations. They may have the proper permissions to work here and they may even eventually attain citizenship...but in their heart their priority isn't America. At the very least, they often have dual loyalties to the US and their home country. At worst, they see America only as a piggy bank and their true loyalty still lies with their home country.

I think the assumption of US corporations is the liberal assumption, that we are all the same, we have the same values, the same motivations. It just happens to be that the culture assume is American. However, those not who are not American do not see the world the same way.

I think it is becoming a problem because most other cultures don't value the profit motive and freedom like we do.

The fact that US corporations are so global really is a testament to how successful our culture and these corporations are. They (we) have been so successful that they are doing business all over the world. The success is causing is the source of problems though.

Well yes but this crystallizes the liberal mindset. Western values of capitalism and entrepreneurship have worked so well that people have become fat and happy and blind to the reality that in order to maintain the luxuries we enjoy, you cant destroy the golden goose.

Socialism doesnt work if you cant raise the funds to support all your social programs. Those funds come from taxing the people, but the people have to have money to tax. Taxing corporations too much makes them offshore to other countries. The tax base crumbles and you're left with veing a third world country.

I friggin hate when smug, douchie SJW types say someone who disagrees with him or her is "uneducated" or "ignorant." It's so pretentious and silly.

LeBron seems like a very ignorant person about politics. He truly is if he has a shred of sympathy for the ChiCom government. I mean he wore a "Beto" hat in 2018. Sounds like he has a flair for playing the useful idiot character.

By "people need to understand what a tweet or statement can do to others" I am pretty sure he means "affect his income"

What I've never understood is why anyone cares what actors and athletes have to say politically or otherwise. Most of them are so insulated with their wealth they have no idea what's really going on in the world.

If China is reporting 6% growth that means it is probably 3% or less.

If they are really growing at 6%, that is awesome. There economy is maturing so the growth numbers are going to come down a bit.

The NBA needs to divorce itself from China. Businesses should be free to conduct business wherever, but if a bad actor starts manipulating that business to do unAmerican things, that business should kindly say, "bye bye".

Anything between 3-6% is not a great number for a developing economy.

    That's a good one.

This just in...US Treasury Dept, by joint decree of Hollywood and the NBA, has announced it plans to start printing dollar bills with red ink instead of green. Declares..."it just a nicer color".

Sort of an odd grouping of those willing to take on China publicly -- Trump, Andrew Yang, Daryl Morey* and Quentin Tarantino

*although Morey is probably permanently out of this fight

This woman is not just any twitter person, she is the granddaughter of Chi Com founding member Marshal Ye Jianying. Her mother-in-law is Ye XiangZhen who is a member of the Chinese Communist Party Committee.
