    1. We gotta get center or 2 or 3! Love Shack and he gives his best but we have had two centers in the last 20 years that really held their own....Gaskamp and Sendleinl

    2. Special team coaches!

    3. Running plays.... ever since McWilliams we have been running the delayed draw type running plays!

    4. Tight ends...surely If we aren’t gonna use them use someone like Omade or Uriquodez ala Tweadie! Maybe they can get in the way for a few seconds!

    5. Lastly, I think it’s all fixable. We were taken to the woodshed physically. Depth, depth, depth! I hate the tackling issues but I like the fight in these young kids on defense! There is a lot to work on!

We have 4 TE but evidently no 2 TE formations. Got to keep them in when they are rushing 6.

A couple of “culture” thoughts — ie, things that coaching might address.

Tackling means wrap up and put him on the ground. Going in hard with a shoulder and expecting him to fall down may work sometimes, but it is not a standard and should not be allowed.

Publicly talking **** about your opponent is immature and often counter-productive. Shut your mouth tough guy and play ball.

Every game matters but if you don’t have a fire lit under your *** for Oklahoma then maybe you should find something else to do with your Saturdays.

In 1983 we introduced the MASH offense against Penn St. and Paterno even said his teams had never been that manhandled! 2019 we are a MASH unit defensively! Two different things!!!! Defensive players leaving left and right with injuries!! Silver lining?? If we can get the young talent to hold on....and some of these guys are gonna be gone for the year.... loads of depth in the future! Ain’t giving up on this season but it could get ugly and tough!

We need us a bad *** stud center like Mike Babb!! Stud guards that can play center or tackle and studs who can play tackle or guard!! Frankly speaking next years oline looks worse than this one!

How do you forget how to wrap up in a few weeks? I haven't forgot proper tacking since I was taught in 7th grade.

So our players forgot how to tackle in one week ? Supposedly we are physical in practice all Spring, Summer, Fall, etc.... ******** excuse. We aren't teaching proper technique...Our tackling has been poor ALL season.

Herman always talking about LEARNING....Do we have a retention problem ??? Seems like we are having to LEARN the same thing from game to game or year to year....I'm refering to coaches as well as players !!!!!!! Example.....Simplify defense ????..... Let them play fast ? Limit what we call ? He said the same **** thing last year and the year before....Why didn't we LEARN that we need to do this from the get go this year ???? SMDH

We'd already lost Green and Sterns in the defensive backfield, then Brown broke his arm. Cook got banged up too. BJ Foster played but obviously wasn't the player he normally is. He avoided contact like crazy. Colin Johnson, just back, got hurt again. Aye yi yi.

We need to get some folks back before we go on the road again.

Why doesn't he come out and admit he and his staff F'ed this game up ? The players talked smack and gave OU a reason to kick our butts unlike last October.

O line play.....We are cross training these guys, which is great since we have very little depth for some reason ( recruiting ), BUT....it can cause problems obviously from watching Saturday's meltdown.

Herman isn't angry at the kids ??? We are doomed !!!!!!!!! You think Saban wouldn't be pissed if his team played like that ? ......Come to think about it, Herman shouldn't be pissed at his kids, (except the couple who talked smack and gave OU reason to kick our ***) He should be pissed at those guys.....He should be pissed at himself......This loss was on the coaches.

The danger with cross-training with different positions in the OL - different positions have different blocking assignments on each play, of course depending on techniques of DL's & LB's. Seems to me it wouldn't be too difficult to confuse or cause just enough hesitation to have success against players that have been moving around a lot.

I see a team that loses focus on both sides of the ball, depending on the situation. This is a reoccurring problema. Which is why every game is close no matter if we play Kansas (see last year) or OU.
When the offense kicks ***, the D relaxes, and when the D does well the Offense plays tight.
It was obvious that we got out schemed this year versus last year we out schemed them.

I’ll share my thoughts. I’m sick and tired of losing to those dirt burglars. There’s no reason they should be beating us more than we beat them. Since they fired John Blake, they have won 14 games to our 7. Several of them blowouts. We’ve only won 3 games in our last 11 meetings. We absolutely have to change the direction of this series. It’s like both programs got completely different attitudes the past 20 years with one knowing they will win and the other hoping we will win. Enough!!!

*edit*. To further elaborate on the trend the past 11 games if they go 8 to our 3 win ratio, I will still be alive in 33 games and OU will be 72 wins to our 71.

We are not affected in practice because our DL does nothing but bull rush, and the scout team is obviously not anywhere near good enough to simulate the quickness of a DL & LB group like OU has. Thus we get what we got last Saturday.

I tend to take a few days off from the board after a loss, especially the ones that really piss me off and this one did.

    I agree with this completely.

Oklahoma expects to win this game, in part I believe, because the coaches have done the correct job in conveying to the players the importance of the series. Whether the players understand this next part or not is unclear, but football at Texas doesn't require the state of Oklahoma. By this I mean that the state of Oklahoma itself produces very few D1 players each year compared to the state of Texas and, like the parasitic program that it is, Oklahoma absolutely has to have players from our state. Winning this game gives them an advantage in that department.

Successful coaches at Oklahoma like Switzer, Stoops, and now Riley understand this and it shows on the field. Compare this to Mack Brown's infamous and truly gutless quote, "We don't have to beat Oklahoma to meet our goals" and you start to see the disconnect here. I'm not exactly sure what goals Mack was referring to but when teams are good the path to the NC goes through the cotton bowl. Beating Oklahoma also gives us the inside track on winning the Big 12, another thing Mack didn't seem to think mattered as much as Oklahoma did, and still does. My guess is Mack gave Tom a fair amount of 'advice' on this game somewhere along the line and it's my sincere hope that Tom Herman grows a pair and forgets every word that was said. I despise Urban Meyer but read what he said about the Michigan series. He gets it and it's why he went 7-0 against them at Ohio State. We don't need a Harbaugh and we are dancing that line.

I'm furious with our staff right now. They were flat out out-coached and it showed. Watching our vanilla game plan and OU defenders in the backfield all day felt like turning the clock back to another Mack Brown / Greg Davis blowout special. The score could have been so much worse and I'm ******* sick of it. I'm not sure what changed between October of last year, where we showed up and took charge of this game, and this year but we've regressed badly in the series. We have the players to beat these clowns and Tom Herman has played them 4 times which means that the 'learning' he speaks of needs to wrap up in a hurry.

If there's a silver lining it's this - I think we saw their best game plan on Saturday and I think they saw our worst. OU is likely to go undefeated and reach the Big 12 championship game. We do need to beat OU to accomplish our goals and that goal is to take the championship from them and knock their sorry asses out of the playoffs and back across the Red River. It's the only thing that's going to make this right. Do work horns. Take the momentum back. Make it happen. :hookem:

Amen Sapo, this was my first RRS and I have to say if our guys don’t come into that game fired up and eager to win there is a serious problem. What an environment! I’ve always said about our season ‘just beat OU Sux’. Never felt it more than last Sat. If Herman is not preaching that to the boys then he’s not the right fit. Beating OU is everything.

That's not true. Texas almost always outrecruits Oklahoma no matter how many times they beat us.

During 2000-2004 when we lost 5 in a row we still greatly outrecruited the Sooners in every one of those years.

I really think Tom Herman did NOT preach to the players that beating OU is everything because to him winning the B12 is. So he knows he has to beat them in Dallas in December but not now. So he is saving up for the second game in order to win the B12. I notice Coach Herman seems to play the long game and strategizes that way. He takes quarters off with a lead and just runs clock. He rests his players and does not push them as hard against easier opponents. And then against UGA or OU in what he deems a big game he goes ALL IN! Notice how the team always plays to the level of the competition. Herman chose to go easy in this match up but will go ALL IN in the B12 championship Game. At least I hope that is what he does. This was Not an accident. Maybe my theory is conspiracy and I will admit as much in December if I'm wrong. Wait and see.

PS. I also think all our injuries took a toll on how aggressive he could call this game.

No excuse, but we did have very young inexperienced players on D. The O line was the most disappointing, but still correctable and lots of season left. We all had some crazy thoughts of CFP, but reality has set, we are who we thought were. 3 years of Tom, and I’m still optimistic about our teams trajectory as Herman would say. Keep recruiting, building depth, and let’s close this season strong. Next couple years will be the real test as too how close we really are. Love my Horns.
