Seeing that picture makes me sad...we got screwed big-time in that game..the foul called that put UConn/Taurasi on line was bogus!! :brickwall:

It’s too quiet this close to season. So just looking to make a little Monday noise. Was looking at roster and other than Ortiz and unknown whether NCAA will allow to play this year, the thing that jumps out is Routt. How you can get to be a sophomore and no one seems to know anything about her. A legacy commit, then a decommit, then injured, then a commit, then an injury I think. Might be in some other order. Could have been a siting of her once or twice. Have no idea if she can play at this level, is she still injured, or what? Anybody really know? With scholarships tight, it would be good to know.

Went to the practice this evening. Jaime Carey ran the guards through some drills and ran the offense in a scrimmage against the boys. Very intense! Terry Nooner is the real deal as he ran the posts through there drills and coached from the sideline during the scrimmage! Can’t wait for the season to start now. Only 3 weeks away! I left the practice very optimistic about the future season and would suggest anyone that can go take in a practice! I talked to several players after the practice ended. They love fans to come watch.

Thanks for the report, Ellis. I hope to be able to catch a few practices later this month —will be at the orange and white scrimmage for sure. In the meantime, news such as yours is very welcome.

Wish we could comment on individual player performances but I understand the concern for privacy. I would say that we have a lot of reason for optimism for the upcoming season. One staff member committed that this was going to be a much better team than last year, assuming we stay healthy. And from what I saw I agree.

How's LaShann's quickness. Is it back?

I would say that LaShann is 100% back to her cat quickness. She was out there making her flashes to the basket. She is clearly one of the leaders on the floor.

Please do NOT post comments on practice ANYWHERE on any media source...this will get practice shut down for everyone, including you!! AO has been very specific about that...please do not endanger this privilege that we enjoy (unlike many other Div.1 schools).....

This girl is 100% ready to go and lead this team. I am sure. Love to see her break to the basket and make one of her acrobatic lay ups! Going to be a blessing to have her back for a fifth year.

This girl is going to be amazing. And obviously very respected by the rest of the Big12.

Got 2, Sug and Joyner, on the first team and 2 honorable mention, LaShann and Charlie! Sug and Charlie do not show in the pic in this look. Tap on the pic to go to the twitter link!

    Congrats Horns!

Hoping Celeste is getting it in and passes all of Coaches test, drills etc to earn playing time.

Would love for them to make sweet 16 and play at the Dallas regional location.

We should be really strong with our first eight players or so. The main concern will be that there's not much experienced depth in the post. Looking forward to seeing the team in action, we should be REALLY fast up and down the court.

With Collier and Holmes the primary inside players, the team will need to play different. First time in a while not having a true inside post. Neither is a traditional post-up threat.....and Hannan doesn’t appear to be either. So playing inside-out may not be the primary mode. Perhaps more motion and screening mixed in with a little high-low. With Underwood perhaps playing some 4, rebounding may be challenging. So I am excited to see how this team approaches offense. For sure faster would be better.....and fewer turnovers while doing that. It can’t get here fast enough.

    2 WEEKS.

I don’t think anyone places much emphasis on exhibition games. They offer the first glimpse of new players and mean the season is about to start but I have to admit to being a bit cheered up when I realized the game is just 2 weeks from today.

Izzy Palmer rated #2 best freshman from Australia coming in to play in the NCAA by Pick and Roll! P&R is supposedly the authority on up and coming players down under. Similar to espn I suppose. I hope they know what they are talking about. We sure need a shooting guard.

No news is good news in my humble opinion. In the last few pre-season years seems like there we always some sort of injury, suspension or other that put the season in doubt. Realize Palmer may be a little late to the game due to ankle injury but assuming that is almost healed, no news on any of the other key players is good. Cant wait for the season to start!

Hopefully we’ll get some good news on Karisma soon. And I’m also hoping for a bounce back year from the players and coaches.

Speculation on early eligibility for Ortiz is water under the bridge. It seems a little crazy for the NCAA to keep players and programs in limbo this late. I am suspecting they know what they are going to do but won’t reveal until kids miss some amount of playing time......or the season. Then say they were swamped with work. Perhaps this is a strategy to discourage transfers that are iffy as to eligibility. Ortiz was iffy to me as other examples of immediate eligibility were not exact comparisons. Will be interesting to see exactly when the news comes down.

I’ve mentioned it before but a full year in the S&C program and Charli looks more than capable of holding her own in the paint...

Not a surprise but always good to see. Ionescu the prohibitive favorite but Sug getting the recognition she has earned.

Sug currently being out to rest a stress fracture is disappointing.

I can’t read the link due to not subscribing to Austin American Statesman. So Sutton is out? How long? And any mention of Hannan? I can see the title and it says Aston only has 11 players. So Sutton, Hannan, Ortiz and Palmer missing? In some form or fashion? Help!

It says that Sug is resting a stress fracture in her left foot. And Coach Aston says she won’t be back before the start of the season. But it also says that she won’t miss all of November. It doesn’t say anything about Ashlee.

Aston was talking about Ortiz as being the 12th player missing on the the team as the unknown whether she will receive her eligibility after transferring. Not Ashlee.

Joyner on the preseason watch list for the Katrina McClain award (Top PF). Last year’s winner, Ruthie Hebard, and Lauren Cox are probably the betting favorites.

ESPN NCAAW's Charlie Crème has done a pre-season bracket. Has Texas as a #4 seed hosting Austin First Round games. That means he sees us in the 13-16 range of best teams. About right I guess. Maybe we should dispense with the season and start with the NCAA Tournament.
