Why would we do that when Coach Aston is a chip off the same old block.

This is even worse than last season.. offense looks worse and absolutely no urgency to win. I hope this was just a hiccup or first game problems but if this is how it's going to be all season I don't think I can do it

hmmmm... doing the same thing expecting different results? This is not Game 1 sluggishness, this is a culture of apathy and a culture where improvement is not required through the program. Nothing's changed in years. Nothing will change until a change is made.

I understand that we’re missing some pieces but its the same thing I said about the football team. Missing players doesn’t mean that you can’t look like a well coached team. It also doesn’t mean that there can’t be some sort of improvement.

I’m not a coach or basketball genius but what exactly is Aston’s offensive philosophy? To the untrained eye (me) it looks like 5 players standing there waiting for someone to win a one on one. There’s no flow. Everything looks so dang hard.

The basics! Free throws, turnovers, rebounding. Pretty sad to see the USF undersized forward getting multiple offensive rebounds over our 2 bigs. Doesn’t take much skill to get a rebound, mainly determination.

A lot I want to say, but I'll sleep on it and wait. One thing I'll say right now is that I didn't renew my season tickets that I've had for 12+ years.

OMG, that was tough to watch. With about a minute to play (I think - my livestream didn't show game clock), #24 jacked up a 3 from way out, with no one wearing orange in a position to rebound ... and that was pretty much the ballgame. Same clueless, helter-skelter play as last year ... not looking forward to the coming beat downs by Stanford, Tenn and Baylor and probably others. Fortunately, I could watch a really good team - Texas volleyball - beat OU on TV .. and I'm hoping the footballers will have their act together tomorrow. Sigh. Hook'em!

Who was missing besides audrey warren? Everyone else was available. In that game we didnt looked coached at all there were turnovers over and over and over again. Offense looked like it was pass, pass and someone take it 1 on 1. Looked like we never played basketball before. Hopefully it was first game jitters & Texas gets it together and gets back to the way Texas plays next week against UTSA if we don't win by 20 or more than you know this game was not a fluke. Dont wanna be negative in the entire post so a bright side is lashan higgs looks to be getting back together. Not fully there but you can see glimpses of the old lashann so she will be fully back in about a month

It baffles me that we still do not have shooters who can MAKE AN EFFIN SHOT, be it from the arc or at the rim!!

On the bright side, the wheels came off the wagon pretty fast this year. Maybe we’ll end the season on a high?

Right! Texas main priority needs to be recruiting bigs and lights out shooters. At least next season Texas will have one with katie benzan because she can shoot the ball very well

Why do Texas look the same each year, regardless what recruits we get. CDC let's do something. Stop dragging the problem out.
That was a very poor effort today.

No surprise here. Karen is an average-ish coach. We’ve known that for years. Recruiting - her perceived strength - has been slipping. She refuses to change (i.e. offensive philosophy and scheme) even though there’s always endless talk in the off season about improvements (i.e. article about off-season shooting practice and focus on three pointers).
And so we begin another average season. A likely NCAA tournament appearance. And a likely first-round exit.
Meanwhile just up the road in Waco....

I went to the LCU game and J.Allen Taylor tore it up. Was scoring at will. Horns would have lost without her. I was very impressed by her performance. Last night she plays 21 minutes and scores 0. That was a surprise.

And Underwood goes 28 minutes with 0 points. Two players just completely disappear.

Same old "Can't execute in the half court" team. This showing against USF makes teams like ISU, OU, WVU, OSU, KSU, and perhaps TCU seem formidable. All of those know how to execute and most of them can throw us off by playing crafty defenses (trapping zones, match-up zones, etc). Let's not even THINK about what "Jerusalem on the Brazos" could potentially do to us. Ughhhh

Disappointing loss. I have my usual complaints, not enough movement on offense, not enough screens to get off some three point shots, no zone to go to to see if we can throw off their offense. But USF is a really good team. I would bet they finish the season in the top 25. On the bright side, Joyner looked good, much better than the last two years. Charli looked more comfortable than last year. Higgs doesn't appear to have lost too much from her injury. I look forward to seeing Isabel play more.

Very true but no turning back now. Karen needs to find the identity of this team and really base her offense off that. I think the defense played well for the most part except a few mistakes which can be fixed through watching film. My take on what Texas needs to do more is high low between joyner and charli, the pick and roll/pop with lashann higgs and collier, palmer needs to get more playing time and run plays to get her open on the 3 point line because she is a deadly shooter, lastly PUSH THE BALL! Everyone on this team can run the floor so tempo needs to be a priority! It needs to look like the fast break when McCarty was here and she hits the outlet to lashann and she goes and score.

I want us to win sooo bad. Aaarrgghh!
Like someone else mentioned, It blows my mind we STILL can't execute in the half court. Coach you don't know how to do it! Hire someone who can! GEES it's not rocket science.
After the Lubbock game I said we still have poor coaching. Nothing has changed. Coach A we want you to succeed. Hire an offensive minded coach. Heck hire the Lubbock Christians coach to assist you.

Joyner still plays a bit out of control which is reflected in her inability to score at the rim.
