I'll just say that I played the game from 7th grade all the way to my freshmen year in college. I stopped after my freshmen year as I realized the game passed me by. Even after I stopped playing I still was in the game in other capacities. I understand the game on a level beyond the average fan. When I say players will give the coaches exactly what is required of them, I was actually quoting Brent Venerables, but my experience tells me this is true. Talent wise there isn't much difference between Texas and blowu, but there is a huge talent difference between Texas and TCU. There is a even greater difference between Kansas and Texas.

So why did Kansas challenge us like they did? Coaching, Coaching, Coaching.

Did anyone notice that Herman had the same issue at Houston? Getting beat by inferior teams. It's not new to him. The real question is, can he overcome this problem? I don't know why he has this issue, but his teams have always had this problem. The injury EXCUSE doesn't really fly when you are playing Kansas, KSU and about 75% of the Big 12. If we lose to Oklahoma, and we have injuries, I can see how that can be the difference. It doesn't fly when we are playing TCU.

Tom might have excuses this year, but I don't care what happens next year, he has no excuses, it's all his players. Win the conference get to the playoffs or GTFO.

I guess this has become a political standoff of injuries matter vs no they don't, and it would be pointless for me to bring up injuries matter deal because if some have their heart set on the other side, ok then... Herman really wasn't set up coming in with Charlie's players. They were crying and heartbroken that their 16-21 coach was getting fired. So, all of the "good ones" defected after their junior seasons for the glories of the NFL. So, unlike Mack/Ricky, there was no "recruiting victory" with Foreman. Where was Kansas' coaching when they got blown out yesterday? Everyone seems to agree that teams just naturally get up for Texas. TCU? Nope, lost to Ok state. So, my theory is, if Texas is sooo horrible and KState is kicking butt, maybe Texas will surprise KState next Saturday. College football teams with superior talent have been beaten by less talented teams countless times in the history of the game. Didn't DKR lament about teams like TCU, that they're the "fly in the ointment", messing up a solid season for Texas? Gotta tell ya Bill, Mack got Texas rolling and then it started tapering off the last few years and then Charlie came and it's 16-21. We all want to win, and I think that's where the frustration comes out for everyone (injuries/coaching/etc). But can't we take a step back and realize Texas is improving? I was on another post where I was arguing with someone and jokingly said "I digress, I'll take this issue up again after the KState loss"..... Can't we just play out these last 4 losses before everyone gets upset about them? Because, maybe, juuusstt maybe Austin Bill, we could win (gasp, NO!) some of the remaining games....

Yeah, win the conference or get fired. That will lead to real stability.

    Do not skip your Midol.

Now back to the 2021 Texas Recruiting Class.

You realize we are not improving. Actually we are regressing, badly. from the offensive line to the defense as a whole. Even our all world QB is looking pretty bad right now. I still don't see the injuries as the issue, they are a symptom of the bigger problem. I've said it on different threads that the reason we are seeing so many injuries is because of the lack of production from our defensive line. We might as well be playing 8 on 11 because that is how good our dline is.

I've already said, the last 4 games is Tom Herman's rope, he can use it to pull the team out of this hole, or he can hang himself with it. These 4 games will tell me more about this coach and his staff than all the previous games.

Been a longhorn fan for 50+ years. Hated when mackovic was here and we made many running backs look like heisman winners just from poor defense. Orlando is adding to that tradition. Look at the defense rank for the last 3 years. This will be the worst D in UT history. Also, when was the last time you saw an opposing defense not know what we were running. Yes we have been successful but not because of scheme. Sometimes we did out play them even though they knew what was coming.

I always though the defenses under Strong would be our low point,,,,,,, so sad. It is frustrating to no end that we continue to make any QB that can move into a 5* running back. That tears me up!

So precisely what does this post and the others complaining about something else have to do with the 2021 Texas recruiting class?

Yes, he has withdrawn his commitment but he ask that we respect his decision. We need to honor his request without saying anything that will throw such negativity towards his change of hear. Who knows, he may come back to coaches and decide he really wants to be a part of this program that is still being built from the previous ruins of CS. Let's try to refrain from putting things out there that will or may cause a recruit to turn away forever and end up at another program to be an asset to help others programs leap UT. Just be careful and not let our negative emotions back fire.

The question is, was he ever really committed? We're talking about a young teenage kid here he's just hanging his hat on the best chair he can see. He was still taking visits looking at other programs so Texas was just a placeholder for him.

If a player doesn't buy into the program it is always best to find out early. And we are real early as there's another year to go and who knows how well Texas will do next year?

Some of these commitments are about as sincere as prom dating. That is why it's most important to find out who really wants to be here for the education and the experience.

I think some of these kids start out with the school they would like to attend for academics in case they don’t get to play football. So if they get hurt and not able to play college football they most likely have that head coach honor the offer for an education. If it works out that they get to play and if that program they committed to is going in the right direction then they stay committed. If they don’t like that direction then they go to a team that is.
