Yawn is right. This game was--no surprise here- a replay of so many games since Shaka got here. The offense has players running around like disturbed ants on an anthill. Chaos, so many bad missed shots, guys running into each other--OMG there was NO offensive rhythm, rhyme or reason. "Y" league ball.

The way they played tonight would have resulted in a loss to ANY other B12 team.

On offense the guys play with great energy, intensity and spontaneity; but without plan or strategy. No chance to win consistently with this. Shame to let this talent go to waste. They play like they are desparate to get somewhere, but they don't know where. :deadhorse:

    Two important points:
    1. Horns did change their offensive approach after the abysmal 1st half
    2. Horns actually had a workable offense against their zone D

They rushed so many of those 3's. We're not the Golden State Warriors (well, the good years, not this year) and we don't have that catch and shoot ability against the zone. I think Febres must work on it in practice a lot and then just flake out in games.

I'm getting a little worried about our bigs. Sims and Liddell were ok for the most part, but at the moment, that's our entire frontcourt depth. I guess Baker is still injured, but we're basically telling everyone not named Jericho or Gerald that they're not going to play much, and go with 4-guard sets even if the situation doesn't call for it.

I only watched the first half before turning it off because as said above it was more of the same type of play we’ve watched in Smart’s tenure. He has brought chaos to Texas, just at the offensive end. No flow, everything seems disjointed and rushed, with really stupid turnovers and rushed shots. If the threes are falling they will be competitive in those games but otherwise probably not. Purdue was a good win, but Smart teams seem to get those early season wins until they hit teams that have scouted them and defend them with a plan. I’ve only watched about a half of he Purdue and CB game each, but have really not seen anything that makes me think this year will be different than the last two ( I will say that if it is different it will be because of the play of Andrew Jones). Physical big 12 teams will eat this team up.

This^^^. I hear you! Baker has not made a shot yet, three games in. Why is he camped on the 3 point line? At a whisker under 7 feet, shouldn't he be crashing the boards on D and rolling hard to the hole on offense and slamming passes down for two??

I must be missing something. Can someone help me understand this?

    Shaka runs a guard-focused offense.

OK. I see Sims very active around the rim. All the other bigs in the last few years were active around the rim. The offense looks very similar this year to previous years. So emphasizing guards in the scheme doesn't explain why Baker is hanging out on the perimeter and not rolling hard to the post like every other big.
