If you supervise a team of people, and your best producers are out sick or on vacation, would you see a drop off in productivity with your lower tiered personnel or would those lesser employees magically become better workers?
Well it's my contention that the scheme we use on defense, the 3 man line, forces our secondary to make most of the tackles. Factor in a lack of QB pressure and it's hell being a DB in our system. So our injury status is on the coaching, not completely of course. That's what I think.
They are on the bench for a reason, but as a leader it would be my job to adjust my strategy to better fit my bench player strengths. In other words give them tasks they are better at performing. It's really not complicated to change things up to better suit the players you have.

Yes, the article said his team had no chance of winning. His team also had 5 turnovers in the game. Probably a frustrating game that he would rather forget. Yet, they lost only by 8 points.
