Patrick Ewing has himself a hard playing ball club. His guys know how to play defense and unless our 3's are falling we have no idea how to beat it. On the other hand I thought we hired a defensive specialist coach. We have no idea what's going on nor how to defend the motion and passing that Georgetown is doing with them shooting over 53% for the game so far.

    Georgetown 76
    Texas 63
    3:33 left in the game

    Second half fg% is 65% G-Town, 27% Texas. It's now 80-63 and we're just clueless.

    Final

In the end when the poo hit the fan in the second half they looked exactly like last year playing street ball and jacking 3's from everywhere. First half looked solid, but you have to play the whole game.

Georgetown made adjustments at halftime. Shaka cannot deal with that, turned a five point halftime lead for the Horns, into a route for Georgetown. Hoyas have an inside presence, Texas doesn’t. I think the way this game went will play out over and over again this year.

Horns scored 24 2nd half points.
In 2nd half Horns were beat to loose balls repeatedly; could not establish anything in the paint either offensively or defensively, and have no rim protector/shot blocker.

Matt Coleman played out of his mind in the first half, making 3's. Andrew Jones had an off game--don't think he made a three.

We turned the ball over repeatedly, and commited foolish fouls--getting our opponent to the FT line early in both halves.

    Same song, 4th verse.

When your 3pt specialist is shooting under 30% and he jacks it up every time the ball hits his hands no matter where he's at it's going to be a long night. I say get someone else in there that has a better all around game, maybe Williams?

That said, you have to give GT some credit. They happened to get hot at the right time.

Local radio Wednesday practically dismissed this game because Georgetown doesn't take threes like Texas nor do they really try to defend the three. They mostly talked about the potential matchup with Duke......oops. They forgot we actually have to make those open threes to compete.

True, however, Coleman had 3 TO's and 2 A for the game. He is supposed to be a PG. Those are not PG stats.

Neither is 6/6 from 3 and 2 steals. Matt Coleman is about at the bottom of reasons why Texas lost the game.

Did not say he is the reason Texas lost the game. I believe you a saying the same thing that I did. Coleman is supposed to be our PG. The primary function of a PG is to distribute the ball to shooters and get everyone involved in the game. When he is scoring and NOT dishing out assists, there is something basically wrong with the process, not his fault. When the PG is is making more TO's than A's, the offense is not working. I believe that is basketball 101.

Is there anything incorrect in those statements.

Where I may be wrong, which is often the case, is that Coleman was not the PG, but Ramey was. He did have 5 A's and only 1 TO. So if that is the case, than Ramey is now the PG and Coleman is the SG. I guess Coleman can function as either since he was clearly the best and most accurate shooter.

The problem appeared to be that we shot less than 30% in the 2nd half.

We don't have any presence inside the arc. We might as well just mail it in like that high school team who puts 5 guards out there and just attempts catch-and-shoot 3's every possession. You could tell even when we were keeping it close that the bigs are weak and unable to keep up with physical teams.
