I finally got a chance to watch this team. I was only able to see the first game of the season being I don’t have longhorn network where I live. I must admit I was a little hesitant after reading a lot of the post about how bad they looked according to the posters here. I will say that it’s hard to really see what a team will shape out to be early in the season especially with so many new players actually playing with each for for the first time to go along with some key injuries. having coached i can tell you it can take some time to gel. I thought and still think this team has to much talent with a good mix of veteran leadership to go along with talented youth to not make a strong push in conference play. I was very impressed with the team yesterday I thought they played with good energy on both sides of the ball, made the extra pass which resulted in hitting open shots because of it. as opposed to shooting a quick contested shot. One thing I feel they will need to work on is defending the three point shot as they go deeper in the season because I saw a few times the defender slow to close out which resulted in open looks so when you play a team that can knock those down it will hurt you other than that they competed hard did a good job switching on D off of screens and were aggressive on the boards. If your players play hard for you and never give up regardless of the situation or circumstances that’s a sign of a good coach and the team I watched yesterday played hard for 40 minutes. If they continue to play that hard Texas will be a scary team to play against come March.
