Jonathan Turley: ‘They Even Threatened My Dog’ For Defending Trump at Impeachment Hearings

Turley already spoke about death threats he received following his testimony last week, but went further in an interview with CBS anchor Norah O’Donnell.

“I know you received a lot of threats after what you did last week,” O’Donnell told the George Washington University law professor.

“And my wife and dog,” Turley responded.

“To be fair, you did talk about them during your testimony. You did bring up your wife and dog,” O’Donnell said.

“Who would shoot a Goldendoodle?” Turley asked in response. “Maybe a Shih Tzu, but not a Goldendoodle. I don’t understand where the anger comes from. Although as an academic, the thought that you could talk about James Madison and that would be fighting words is something I haven’t seen outside of a law school.”

So Norah O'Donnell thinks as long as you talk about your wife and your dog in your testimony, then it is OK to threaten them afterwards? What a great human being.

Just sick. They are truly mentally ill but because they are on TV their "high-functioning" appearance fools many people. They are skilled in beating down rational people with their coordinated attacks. They are always on point. They have turned logic upside down because the can't win at the polls. So instead they are attempting to prevail by simultaneously overturning the Constitutional outcome and painting all opposition as evil monsters. We must not be intimidated by zealous, unreasonable, corrupt extremists. But they are intimidating because they are ruthless and willing to destroy anyone and everyone who gets in their way. The lawyer who mentioned Barron is a prime example; hateful, vile, mean, bitter and corrupt. Yet that is who they present as the face of saving America from Trump. The problem is obvious; they are trying to normalize their disease.

Dershowitz latest - Articles of Impeachment on these facts would itself be an unconstitutional act

“It would be an utter abuse of the power of Congress. The Constitution sets out four criteria for impeaching a president: Treason, bribery, or other high crimes and misdemeanors. Unless one of those criteria is met, Congress does not have the authority to impeach, and if they do, their impeachment would be void. Alexander Hamilton said any act of Congress that is inconsistent with the Constitution is void.”

“Congress may be able to get away with it, but this confuses what Congress can get away with with what Congress is sworn to uphold. Any member of Congress who votes to impeach President Trump without a finding that he is guilty of treason, bribery, other high crimes or misdemeanors is violating their oath of office.”

“What they’re trying to do is what the KGB under Lavrentiy Beria said to Stalin, the dictator — I’m not comparing our country to the Soviet Union; I just want to make sure it never becomes anything like that. Beria said to Stalin, ‘Show me the man and I’ll find you the crime.’ And that’s what some of the Democrats are doing. They have Trump in their sights, they want to figure out a way of impeaching him, and they’re searching for a crime.”

Beto and AOC wanted to impeach prior to the release of the Mueller Report. That in and of itself should disqualify them from office. Instead, the emotional impairment of Liberals has made them into rock stars. It's a cult of personality if there ever was one. These people make the common OCD bitter Liberal feel good about themselves.

It's amazing a guy with such an easy life like Beto (son of a judge who could (and did) get him out of whatever trouble he got himself into, then married the daughter of a Billionaire who was apparently willing to fund whatever quixotic quest Beto he came up with, no matter how crazy-sounding) can be so angry. What does he have to be so mad about? Why is he so filled with rage and hate?

My suggestion is that the only possibility is that underneath it all is self-hate. That is the root of it. And, yes, I did take 15 hours of psych at UT so I am as qualified as anyone to make this call.

I read it’s their perceived lack of ability of controlling themselves, so they seek to outwardly control others.

We have migrated to a very open society normalizing things that once were held to be deviant. I have no problem with someone who lives their life as they see themselves. I am not shocked by anything and do not wish to infringe upon a right of self-expression and discovery. But what has become objectionable to me is the idea that we normalize the emotional reactions of those who cannot control themselves. There is a theoretical Bell Curve of human reaction to outside stimulus and information and what was once considered to be extreme, emotional, irrational, unreasonable and out of control is now to be normalized. What we must achieve is to define what is truly a rational response and contrast that with emotionally driven exclamations that dramatize that which should be accepted as part of life as a human being. I know drama queens in my life and they are exhausting. We all know people like that. It seems the Left is being driven by the kind of personality that over-reacts and when combined with a pathological level of personal ambition you get what we are seeing in Beto and AOC. And with the elevation of virtue signaling as the sole criteria to be a leader of the greatest super power the world has ever known, we have suddenly widened the field to virtually anyone who speaks the right language regardless of their intellectual or leadership capabilities.

I'm not saying there aren't zealots on the right because there are plenty to go around and I know some personally. But when you are aggressively attacking others with it (impeachment) then we need to decide who is in charge around here. Impeaching the President should be a big deal. I'm not in favor of it because the evidence is not clear-cut that Trump PERSONALLY ordered it or said it (quid pro quo) and because it's OBVIOUS to me that the Left has intended on attacking him from day one.

I have long been a proponent of repealing the 26th Amendment
But maybe we should not just repeal it but reverse it completely to 21 and own real property?

Here is former Ukrainian Prosecutor General Viktor Shokin saying the problem for Joe Biden was when Shokin seized all of Burisma’s assets the Ukranian gas company could no longer pay his son Hunter Biden. So the vice president demanded Shokin be removed.

Why is only OAN talking to these people? Where is 60 Minutes?

There is more, of course -- Prosecutor Yuriy Lutsenko stated that after he replaced Shokin (see above) he was visited by US State Dept. official George Kent (impeachment witness) and Ambassador Marie Yovanovitch (impeachment witness) -- they provided a list of corruption cases the Ukraine government was not permitted to follow.

Lutsenko notes that the certain, specific corruption cases he was instructed to drop reflected on the laundering of US Aid money back to officials in the US (again, I ask you, have you ever wondering how federal politicians come to DC broke or near broke and leave rich? - how does that happen?)

This is the background to this ongoing these we have seen throughout the Ukraine part of the impeachment story -- and why what Giuliani has been doing over there is driving them nuts. And get this, even Lindsey Graham's name has come up. How do you think this will affect what, if anything, moves to the Senate?

I argued some time back above in this that if the Senate applies the FREs and the FRCPs, it could, if it wanted, summarily bounce this whole thing. Without hearing anything or anyone. And it probably should be. But if they do that, I will be a little more circumspect now that I know Graham's name involved in Ukraine dealings.

It sets a very dangerous precedent when one party decides that 50% of American’s vote does not count. Add in a corrupt justice department and It makes a civil war possible.

If you are dubious, try this on for size -- Senator Graham said he would not permit Senate impeachment testimony that touched on this aspect of Ukraine dealings.

Here he is on Maria Bartiromo, he says he will not call witnesses and will quickly move to dismiss the House impeachment effort. He also says calling congressmen to testify is dangerous, and he wont call Schiff -- because he does not want to go down this path. Is this self-serving by Graham? He may have multiple motives, but if he did participate in the exploitation of Ukraine on his own, he will not want a deep inquiry into what took place with Ukraine in 2014-16 and his involvement with Marie Yovanovich.

And so it appears this is not just about the Bidens. What it looks like is that Senators from both parties participated in the "influence process," and the exploiting of the financial opportunities presented by all the US aid flowing into Ukraine. So by protecting the Bidens, they protect themselves. And it did not stop with the Senate. You may recall that both John Kerry and Nancy Pelosi had their own kids connected with various Ukraine schemes. The Clinton Foundation also got a lot of money from Ukraine -- I cannot help but what was the original source of that money? Does this sound like the DC Swamp or what?

Bottom line, dismissal of the House Articles by the Senate would be pretty convenient for a lot of people.

It will be interesting to watch how all of this plays out.

The reality appears to be that several Senators from both parties have been participating in a money laundering scheme involving US taxpayer money in the form of aid to Ukraine. Probably other countries too, for a long time.

But in this case, some of these same Senators are jurists on a pending impeachment trial of President Trump who is attempting to stop the corrupt financial processes they have been benefiting from.

    We live in crazy times.

Putting myself in the shoes of the sheep awaiting the slaughter, I'd say the swamp is DC. EVERYONE. The ambition levels are a mental disorder and they have no conscience. None of them do.

The absurdity is the belief people have in them. When I see someone saying Pelosi is acting rationally and on behalf of the American people the first thought that comes into my head is this: What an idiot.

I’m curious. What happens to an attorney or witness when they knowingly lie or submit knowingly false/misleading information to a court?

He settled at full value, or close. In addition, he was sanctioned by the Jones trial judge (Ark). He was disbarred by his home state. He was also disbarred by the SCOTUS, in a unanimous vote (I think they did this sua sponte too, not upon a motion of any type)

Roger Stone is in jail for less.

NATO has kept us out of WWIII. We've got a touch of hegemony so we're going to spend our military $. I agree that others need to arm themselves better. NATO is stronger when they do.

Brexit was brought on by active measures from the far right and Russia, who wants the EU to fail. There is a movement across the globe toward nationalism and authoritarianism. Seems odd.
Who are the despotic leaders (excluding Erdgregron) in the EU?

The only thing failing in any of these investigations is that there is an abuse of executive privilege. If Pompeo, Bolton, Mulvaney, etc. were to testify the outcome would be a little more clear.

Questions re: Rudy's letter. Is "exigencies" a word?

Shouldn't a writer pick a comma style and stick to it? The Oxford comma. I'm not a grammarian but I vacillate on whether or not to utilize it.

If'n I'm writing a letter to the Senate, I'm going to have that **** tight!
