Welcome Ashton Maloney out of Kansas City, MO. I think she's 2021, but haven not confirmed.

I wonder if that will be rounding out the 2021 class? We currently have 6 juniors that they would be replacing. Would like to see us bringing in more ranked players but Coach White may need to build his credibility in order to get those players. It appears he is recruiting talent with tremendous potential to develop!

Mia Scott is the real deal. She is underanked and led her high school to a state championship. She also led her high school in batting average. She got an offer from Oregon when Mike White was the coach but was too far. She also got offers from Tennesee, Florida, Georgia, Houston, Michigan, and UCLA I believe.

    Good information!
I had been wondering if being in the middle of the country would help Mike in recruiting, especially with the number of players Texas has to offer. If Mom & Dad can make the trip to Austin to see you rather than fly to Oregon to watch, it's gotta be something for them to consider right?

Definitely! She plays on the same travel ball team as Sophia Simpson (2021 recruit) and JJ Smith (2020 recruit). Their travel ball team is expected to win 18u pgf this year. They finished the fall with a 24-3 record. 2 of those losses were by 1 run. But to choose Texas over big softball schools like Florida, UCLA, Tennesee, and Alabama says a lot. They got a good on with Mia. I saw her in her high school playoffs. She has a cannon of an arm and super fast. Idk much about Allie or Ashton but Texas has Sophia, Mia, Mya, and & Katie. I’ve all seen them play because they’re in the Houston area and those girls can ball especially Mia. Sophia led her team to pgf national runner up finish last year.

A clear year-to-year progression has developed in Mike White's recruiting.
The projected 2020 class is a step above the enrolled 2019 class and the
projected 2021 class is a step above the 2020 commits. This guy has a plan
and it's fun to watch him execute it.

Not only upgrading the recruiting, but upgrading his staff after just one year!

I was curious why he would replace his hitting coach.

Maybe it's all in my head, but I coulda sworn I saw a different type or an improved type of hitting in Fall ball than last year.

    53 more days to go!

Missed this article shortly after Ashton Maloney's verbal commitment:

The Last Inning (Dec. 6, 2019): More on Texas Verbal Ashton Maloney, Top Gun Invitational Gets Sponsor - Extra Inning Softball

ASHTON MALONEY ON TEXAS: “FELT LIKE HOME AWAY FROM HOME”

Yesterday, we told you about Ashton Maloney, the talented 2021 outfielder from Liberty (Misssouri) High who committed to Texas on Thursday.

Ashton told Extra Inning Softball’s Brentt Eads today: “I committed yesterday around 3 o’clock and I chose Texas because it felt like my home away from home.”

Ashton tripped to Austin last weekend and had a ball, even without players being in town for Thanksgiving break.

The Missouri Class 4A All-State player who batted .598 with 55 hits and 40 runs scored added, “When I visited on November 29-30, I just fell in love with the school and Austin.”

She was hosted by Longhorn coach Steve Singleton because the players were away on Thanksgiving break last week.

Ashton helped Ryan Taylor’s Aces Fastpitch 18U team win the Boulder IDT last summer and is a key reason the team is ranked #8 overall in the Extra Elite Eighty 18U Club Rankings at this point.

Coach Taylor said of his star outfielder, “Ashton is a big strong athlete that runs very well. She has a big arm, and power to go with her speed. She was a huge part to our success last year, and I’m excited she will continue to grow!”

Another commit: Vanessa Quiroga P/UT Bat L / Throw R Corpus Chrisiti Carrol HS Athletics Bonola Club Team

Haven't seen her play but think she may be more of a hitter than a pitcher.
Mike White and Company continue to recruit the whole state.

Doesn’t seem to be leaving much room for players in the transfer portal?

If your recruit well from the beginning you don't need the portal.
    This class could be special.
Mia Scott, Sophia Simpson, and Katie Cimusz are really good.

Burke, Rhodes, Sullivan, Iakopo and Elish all came to us thru the portal. Not a bad group. That said I like to see Coach White develop his players but you can never deny the transfer portal can be a great source for proven talent!

I agree that, unless some superstar player from another school decides she wants a change of scenery, there probably won't be any transfers. For sure, when Mike arrived he need some sort of boost the give a shock to the program and give it some....validity? Or excitement to the fans, administration, and potential recruits that they had hired the right guy. And the fact that the 4 who came over were developed by Mike, Chelsea, and Kailee and contributed immediately showed club coaches, players and their parents that the man can coach. And to be able to stay in Texas where they can drive to see most of your games? He's building a recruiting magnet in Austin.

IIRC, the transfer portal did not exist until 10/15/2018. Ellish and Burke transferred to Texas before that. It was Iakopo, Rhodes, and Sullivan who had to follow portal protocol. Or, I'm misremembering the timings.

Texas may not be the most talented team in the nation, but should be one of the most fun to watch. Mike is building a heck of a team.

    Extra Inning rankings for 2021:

    8. Sophia Simpson
    22. Katie Cimusz
    31. Mia Scott
    32. Mya Holmes
    35. Ashton Maloney
    93. Allie Clements

I don't put too much weight into these for the sport of softball but still nice to get some recognition.

She’s still committed to Ole Miss, I believe.

I was thinking maybe Brooke Lorenzo of Katy Tompkins who committed to Ole Miss around the same time Brooke Barnard did. No reason, other than she's from Texas and Ole Miss parted ways with their head coach and only has an interim head coach at the moment, I believe. Would be unusual timing as we just defeated Ole Miss on Saturday night in Puerto Vallarta.
