Climate will change, don’t know if it’s going up or down. Are humans affecting climate probably but to what degree? There have been glaciers in New York, earth has a cycle it could be 10,000 years or 100,000 years, so for us to predict change over 200 years is iffy to me.

China, India, and other countries far exceed EU, US, Japan. India is about to take off like China.

Greta Thunberg needs to learn Chinese if she actually wants to make a difference.

Enjoy! Enjoy what? An article that doesn't have any real point?

Wind energy is unreliable, expensive and dangerous. The problem is all the birds they kill. It is the humans. Don't remember the exact number but its 100s or 1000s of workers die working on them. They are extremely dangerous for people to maintain.

    4th_floor Dude, where's my laptop?

The biggest problem with wind energy is that moronic bureaucrats (redundant - I know) depend on wind as quasi-baseload during periods of high demand. Because the wind is always blowing somewhere, right? This wonderful policy gave us $9.00 per KWH wholesale rate in Texas for extended periods in August. But no worries, because the government pays for that.

I don't know if $9/kwh is high or low. I should be ashamed. I do know that the spot price in Texas over the Summer was "high" but good thing we Texans don't pay real market prices. Of course if we did pay market prices, we wouldn't have wind turbines.

In Germany, I pay about 25 cents per kwh, and that's some of the most expensive electricity in the world. I paid about 10 cents per kwh in Texas. That'll give you an idea of how high $9 per kwh is.

Wind power is wildly overdone. In some places, I can see it being useful - for example in places that have a consistent oceanic wind. However, what they've done in Germany is absurd. They have ugly-*** wind turbines everywhere. You virtually can't look in any direction without seeing a mess of them. Despite that, they only produce about 18 percent of German electricity. And much of that replaced nuclear plants that the wingnuts have shut down. They're still burning a lot of lignite coal.

Wind power is a play-pretty, just like solar.

I saw a lot of wind generators in New Mexico and west Texas. Don't care much for them. They require too much maintenance and some I saw were right next to the roads. We have a lot of solar in AZ. Many of the buildings set them up over parking the lots. My electric bill is pretty low, the worst bill I paid was only $15 for the month which was a surprise and a lot lower than our bill when I lived in Dallas.

Let's suppose that the alarmists are entirely right. We've got twelve years to reverse things. Why would we "dismantle capitalism" as they suggest? The last time socialists were in charge of power production, they made an area of Ukraine uninhabitable, and some of the dirtiest air in the world is a socialist country. Why does anyone think socialists have any credibility on environmental cleanliness or even concern?

$15 for a month was the worst you ever paid? Even in Texas, about the cheapest electric bill I ever got was about $30, and that was in a 450 square foot apartment while I was in law school. In Germany, I pay more like $15 a day for electricity.

I checked again on the bill. It’s a total of $37 which also covers the investment in Tucson Solar which is $22, and the regular electric bill capped for investors at $15.

Deez: where in Germany did you go to law school? I ask as I lived and went to school in Karlsruhe in ‘70 when I was 15, to study German. I also lived on a farm in ‘72 with a family for awhile for complete emersion in the language.

I went to law school at Baylor in Waco before the Gaines came in, so I basically went to law school in Mogadishu. I moved to Germany in 2013 and live in the Kaiserslautern area - about an hour from Karlsruhe.

Kaiserslaughtern is great location. Are you Military? I was in Germany when it was divided, but went back when the wall fell. When the official reunification celebration was held in Berlin in October 1990. That was one hell of a party!

I'm sure it was a hell of a party. I was a 13-year-old kid when the wall came down, so I remember seeing it on TV. Looking at the country now, it's hard to imagine it being divided.

Kaiserslautern is a good location. It's easy to travel from here to the Rhine, Belgium, France, etc., and Frankfurt Airport isn't far. I am not in the military. My wife works in administration for the Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA). That means we have an indefinite assignment here. It's a nice arrangement.

Almost all traces of the wall and especially the long fence along the East-West border have disappeared. When my wife and I finish school in a couple of years, we plan to go over and spend 8-10 weeks in europe. She wants to see my old stomping grounds, so we'll drop my daughter off with friends in Berlin then head off to Russia and make our way down to Spain eventually. Should be a lot of fun.

Back in 1988, "NASA's" James Hansen predicted that by 2010-2020, global temperatures will be 4 to 6 degrees warmer than 1958.

History now shows temps up barely 1.8F since 1958.

I would like to see today's school kids taught how often and by what a large degree these alarmists have been wrong. I would even like to see a willingness among modern adult progressives to learn the facts, but this seems to be impossible.

Back in 2008, Australian media fretted that their drought would "never break."

But by 2011, Australia had so much rain, the world's sea-level had fallen.

Back in 2002, progressives at the Guardian were predicting world-wide famine by 2012 unless we all went vegan.
