I am spending a few days skiing with the family in Colorado. I was refused a six pack of Coors at the grocery store unless I could show ID’s for myself, wife AND 20 year old child. Then, they asked me if I wanted to pay for my bags to self check out. Yet there is a dispensary about every block.

Just read this which summarizes the most meaningful attempt to rein in federal spending. A bit long but the question is, DID IT WORK? WHERE IS SPENDING NOW? And if spending blew through this like a speed bump then that right there is the case for Conservatism in America. Not social problems but the control of the government. JUST SAY NO is apparently the only answer. You can argue the definition of socialism all day long but to me it is most illustrated by the growth of the federal bureaucracy; a workforce that is unaccountable and permanent. It creates no economic value but relies upon the taxpayer for it's existence. In order to justify itself, everything must be seen as a moral imperative. And we know the politicians are uninterested in discussing the bureaucracy except during election time when they regale us once again with notions of cutting government waste.

In that event, a trigger mechanism in the bill was activated to implement across-the-board reductions in the rate of increase in spending known as "sequestration".[14]

The Sequestration Transparency Act of 2012 (Pub. L. 112-155) requires the president to submit a report to Congress on a potential sequestration which may be triggered by the failure of the "Super Committee" to propose and for Congress to enact, a plan to reduce the U.S. Federal Budget by $1.2 trillion as required by the Budget Control Act.[15] The report – which was issued September 14, 2012, and was close to 400 pages long – provided the warning that "sequestration would be deeply destructive to national security... and core government functions".[16]

The start of the sequestration was delayed from January 2, 2013 to March 1, 2013 by the American Taxpayer Relief Act of 2012, which was passed by both houses of Congress on January 1, 2013 as a partial resolution to the fiscal cliff crisis.[17] The bill also lowered the sequestration cap for 2014 to offset the two-month delay in 2013. Also, for 2013 only, certain "security" funding such as homeland security and international affairs were included in the sequestration cut in order to lessen the cuts to defense.[18]

In December 2013, the Bipartisan Budget Act of 2013 increased the sequestration caps for fiscal years 2014 and 2015 by $45 billion and $18 billion, respectively,[19] in return for extending the imposition of the cuts to mandatory spending into 2022 and 2023, and miscellaneous savings elsewhere in the budget.[20]"

I did not vote for Beto but I would not vote for a guy who would assume the position after Candidate Bonespurs accused my dad of being a Castroite and insulted my wife.

First, I voted for Cruz over Beta because Beta had a ******** policy agenda, and Cruz generally doesn't. It wasn't anything more than that, and I don't particularly care who's weird.

Second, I'm a one-percenter or at worst, a five-percenter. Most voters didn't know diddly dick about either of their policy agendas. The voted for Cruz because he had a R by his name or for Beta because the media licked his nutsack 24/7, so they thought he was cool. And by the way, that's fine because most of them are too dumb to know a good policy agenda if they saw one. However, the point is that they actually did care who was weird and who wasn't.

Finally, I didn't vote for bonespur (again, because I didn't like significant parts of his policy agenda or likely policy agenda). I never cared that his wife posed nude 20 years ago. She's Slovenian, and that's part of being a model in Europe. And it just isn't that big of a deal to me. I live in Europe. I see naked women every time I get gas.

 

But where are his matching Obama-brand pajama bottoms?
