    • The Series: Texas and Texas Tech meet for the 103rd time in the history of the two programs. The Lady Raiders are the Longhorns' most frequent opponent historically and the only team that Texas has met more than 100 times. • Double Trouble: Texas leads the nation with 19 double-doubles this season. Sophomore center Charli Collier and senior forward Joyner Holmes each have nine double-doubles, which is tied for eighth nationally. Senior guard Lashann Higgshas one double-double on the year.
    • Balanced Attack: Texas has benefitted from a balanced offensive attack, which has three players averaging double-figures in scoring and five players with eight or more points per game. In all but one game this season, the Longhorns have placed at least three players in double-figure scoring.
    • Sophomore Strong: Sophomore center Charli Collier has had a breakout second year for the Longhorns. She is one of only six players in the Big 12 to be averaging a double-double with 13.6 points per game and 10.4 rebounds per game. Collier also ranks 22nd nationally in rebounds per game. She is 18th in the Big 12 in scoring and 13th in field-goal percentage [.436].
    • On The Boards: Success on the boards has been a staple of Texas teams for many years. The Longhorns hold a +8.5 rebounding margin, which ranks 23rd nationally. Texas has reached 50 or more rebounds in four games this year.

Tech is a team that Lost to Iowa State at home by 30 and then beat TCU in Ft. Worth by 4. Last game they lost to K-State, the Big 12 bottom dweller, at home by 4. Hard to get a read on them considering it's just the opposite of what Texas did. Tells me it depends on which Texas team shows up?

Texas Tech has one of the weakest defenses in the league. Texas should be able to score. Need to keep Tech off balance on offense- don’t let them get into a flow. Add home court advantage. Texas wins this one.

Our defense has been somewhat solid lately. We have to maintain that intensity and not allow easy looks... Tech has some capable shooters if left open. Most importantly we HAVE to start executing consistently on the offensive end.

TT & KU played it smart(?) and padded their schedules with cupcakes. But I think they're finding out the hard way that making it EASY on yourself in preseason can sure make it HARD in conference

Really enjoying watching Joanne gain confidence every game. I wasn't convinced last season that the light would turn on for her in year 2, but she continues to progress as a sophomore.

Joanne has many skills. If she can improve her shooting, she will be a major weapon for us the next couple of years.

Rewatching the game and so pleased to see that Holmes and Collier got through almost the entire game with only one foul each. Collier got a second near the end. AND delighted to see Holmes making those turnaround jump shots with consistency. She misses them way too often. IMO Holmes finding her groove is essential to our continuing to win. Same for Charlie. When those two play well, we usually win.

I love that our younger players are getting quality time. Allen-Taylor, Palmer, Warren and C Taylor are getting better with each game.

And for the record, despite what the announcers said - Karen said she went with a different starting lineup based on who she thought Tech was going to start and then Tech went with a different lineup. That said, I think Holmes responded very well coming off the bench.

Agreed and I suspect her shooting will develop. While she didn't receive all the accolades of some others, she was recruited (and I believe offered) by Notre Dame.

Good numbers all be it against a very weak Tech team. Outside of Brittney Brewer they don’t have much. We should beat Kansas and K-State. It appears OSU, Sooners and Baylor will be the real test for this team the remaining first half of Big 12 play.

I was really disappointed when we didn't offer Brewer; or, if we did, and she picked Tech. She has great height and long arms, runs really well for her size, gives great effort, and has many offensive skills.

I'm not sure about the concept of "luck" when it comes to basketball games that last 40 minutes, but I'm a big believer in the idea of "being in the zone". At last night's game, in the 1st quarter, a couple of balls went into the hoop where I normally, they would roll out or bounce off the rim. But they went in, and I turned to my seatmate and said, "wow, they're all going in!"

I mean, they didn't all go in. But when we missed just 3(!!) free throws, the team was in the zone.

I'm glad to see Joyner spending more time down low and doing more basic post moves. It seems like she is not bringing the ball up the court as much as she did before. She can be dominant if she plays the low post game. My guess Coach Nooner has a lot to do with Joyner's and Charli's improvement.

Joyner is so athletic, quick, and strong that if she ever COMMITTED herself to being a low post player, she would be a handful at every level. Then.. there's her passing prowess and ability to rebound and take off leading the break. She could be one of the best if she would just make up her mind to do it. Judging from what I saw in high school years, her coach didn't force her play down low but instead just kind of let her do whatever she wanted. It seems that mentality has carried over with her at this level... hence why KA has had to get her attention (on more than one occasion) by benching her.

I’m excited about Terry’s presence within the program. As fans, we haven’t had all of the outcomes we’ve wanted, and there is clearly work to be done on several levels, but personally, I don’t feel as “dire” about the team as I did last season. It “feels” to me like we’re at least on the right track again, and sure hope that’s true.

    Thanks for sharing this video.

Texas sits with a #60 RPI still. Oklahoma RPI in the 20s with the same record. still some work needed on credibility.

See what you did there? You switched OU for Baylor. Still not quite getting the whole fan board thing, but progress none the less.
