Navigate rush hour-like traffic, wait in lines with tourists, buy a bunch of unhealthy or unnecessary crap you dont need, take the scenic route to get back on the road...What's not to love??
It's incredible what a college football player has to go through physically to be able to play on Saturdays and then there is acedemics also.
I'm so tired of the videos and the hype and the empty marketing around this program for even the most routine things. Somebody makes a tackle... yeah let's make a photo montage and twitter gram that crap or whatever. Gee, people have been showing up for football practice for over 100 years.. let's totally make a video about it. We're 8-5. We haven't been relevant in a decade. You know what I want to see a photo of? I want to see a photo of the scoreboard in the Cotton Bowl where we've beaten OU like a borrowed mule. You know what video would get me hyped? Watching us break LSU's back next year in Baton Rouge. Less hype, more doing, horns.
The empty promotion and useless fluff this athletic department seems to be so good at has something in common with winning, I think. Too much of it is bad for the kids.
(a) Not really aimed at you (b) We have no choice but to do it. It's really not something even on the table
It is rather like the Longhorn Network. Not everyone has one and our media department in Athletics is really good. Nothing bad about reinforcing a kid's good self image as a Texas player.
I think it would be a great idea for playoff games in particular. Probably just too much politics involved. UT cannot risk even the hint of favoritism. If the UIL chose which games, though .......
I know that Joe on both accounts I just find it annoying given the lack of performance on the field. Anyways it is what it is.
OK, well, we had an extremely bad run there of the UT system combo of Coach-AD-President-Chancellor. I occasionally wonder what might have happened had they just let Hall and Hicks finish what they started. But not very often, anymore.
Sad but true I wonder if we still might be able to? Maybe I dont remember it correctly, but my memory is that with regard to the channel, it was something we just agreed to do (or not do in this case). If so, then why cant we change our minds (since aggy left anyway)? If the UIL is good with it, which they probably would be if we offered more than the local FS1 is paying. It seems like such a natural fit.
The Aggies protested the broadcasting of high school sports saying that it gave Texas an unfair advantage in recruiting. Typical Aggie logic that televising a HS athletic event will be a greater advantage than a BMW and paychecks for work never done, not to mention a signing bonus and monthly payments to momma.
