"It gets real hot, down in Louisiana... You ever meet a Cajun when he really got mad..." :fire::fire::fire:

Editorial comment: Emmylou Harris' version of this song is vastly superior to the Oak Ridge Boys and other versions. She was quite a looker back then. That's also a youngish Ricky Skaggs on the fiddle.

Baylor -- Hires Brian Stewart (former Detroit Lions DB coach) to coach CBs at Baylor. They're putting together a good coaching staff on the Brazos.

Hawaii -- Da' Bows have to dig deep into the small college ranks to find their new DC. Victor Santa Cruz (Azusa Pacific HC) takes over the Hawaii defense.

I know they will still have great WRs and with Emory, a great RB. My thought is they are not going to have a great offensive line. Their two deep last year suggests they are going to have major growing pains as those guys get used to playing big boy football beyond junk time. Their only returning starter is their weakest link from last year. I wouldn't be surprised if they still win 9 games next year, but if they beat Texas, it's more of an inditement on Tom Herman than the greatness of LSU.

Arkansas -- The pigs hire Mike Krysl (Army ST) to take over special teams coaching.

LSU -- more musings on the hiring of the even-keeled, mild-mannered Bo Pelini: What Bo Pelini’s return to LSU means for Ed Orgeron and the culture he’s established

Tennessee -- Poached Jay Graham (aTm RBs) from the ags.

Deion Sanders -- announced that he will be a college football head coach next year. But he didn't say where...:rolleyes1:

Tom Herman is now listed as the #1 coach on the hot seat, followed by Kevin Sumlin at #2.

Nah, only if he loses. If he wins, the seat turns to a bog old block of ice.

The big "IF", and he hasn't yet. He has coached 40 games, winning 25, including only THREE that are considered "BIG" - OU, Georgia, Utah.

For $5 million plus a year, that don't cut it. Maybe if he gets 62.5% of his salary for winning 62.5% of his games, the seat cools off, but I doubt it.

USC -- Our former S and ST coach Craig Naivar is heading to Troy to join Todd Orlando and coach the Trojans' safeties. For the sake of the beaten-down USC fans, Orlando should let Naivar function as the co-DC and run the defensive show as much as (or more than) himself.

Not directly on point, but there's definitely plenty of trouble in Troy ...

Sources: USC President Carol Folt Not Budging On AD

Post by 'Linkster' on insideuscblog about new USC President Carol Folt quoted below:

    "Linkster

She is a total POS controlled by the woke BOT. It was easy to fire Swann as he was a total, 100% incompetent that visible for all to see. She was a mediocre choice at best and now has her nose up Caruso’s ***. I hope Bohn doesn’t show up. He has some integrity and should be allowed to do his job as he sees fit. USC will never find a competent AD if this ***** is allowed to pull this off."

    Sabre,

    I'll take

25-15, 17-10 in conference, 3-0 in bowl games at $5 million per with double birds and mocking and losses to Maryland/TCU/Baylor/OU over

16-21, 11-13 in conference, 0-1 in bowl games at $5 million per with no guns/nice to women and the lost looks on the sideline with a face that said "everyone knows I'm a fraud"......

Difficult to fault that choice. I think there will be a different tone around USC on defense this year.

He was asked which dead figure he would like to have dinner with. He said Hitler "because of his leadership skills."

His coaching tenure was almost as short as that of Todd Orlando at Texas Tech, albeit for a much different reason.

Looks like we’ve finally satisfied some version of Godwin’s Law on this thread and find ourselves talking about Hitler and the Nazis.

Honestly. I think the Hitler-interested coach should have been given a little more slack. He acknowledged Hitler was a terrible guy. Still he had motivational superpower. He led a nation with great tradition of humanity and Christian behavior into a very unnatural direction to an unimaginable self destruction. The Marvel is not in what he did, but how he did it. That ability should be intriguing to a football coach. Listen to him through dinner, then strangle him as dessert arrives.

I would tend to agree, but it seems like society wants to bury their heads in the sand and never learn anything. Charles Manson would probably be another example. And there are plenty of examples throughout history of people being great leaders, but horribly evil going back to Genghis Khan. It's common for people which are very talented in one area to be just the opposite in another. In fact, I have a lot harder time thinking of people who were great leaders and great people. If we learn nothing more than don't follow the wrong leader off a cliff, at least we learn something.

Joseph Goebbels is a great example of learning about propaganda so we don't get fooled again. I think even Pete Townsend mentioned that.

As a member of the Florida Foundation and University of Florida Alumni Association, I am less than thrilled, but then I don’t like the coaching staff anyway.
