They played hard. Husltled; with heart. good talent, great talent still needs coaching, planning, scheming, plays, strategy. No need to say more.

Won first half by taking it inside and getting KU to foul..... Then Williams decides to throw up bricks the entire 2nd half and we lose... 3-23 from outside the arc until we hit one after the game was all but over....SMDH

To my point on the ISU thread. Sims went 8 for 9 and 1 of 2 from the FT line. But Shaka thought it was a better idea to jack up shots from the outside. Sims is shooting 67% on the year yet he is only averaging 10 points a game. The next best shooter on the team is Jones at 46%. If I were coach I'd make sure Sims is getting 20 shots a a game.

Again Shaka's team lives or dies by the three and last night they lost because they couldn't hit those shots. I really think Shaka either doesn't care or isn't smart enough to figure it out because every game looks like exactly the same plan.

I watched the last ten minutes or so of the first half. When I turned it on Sims was 3-3 and then hit his next shot. At that time I was thinking they should go to him on every trip, but instead he n m ay have had one more shot in the half. Horns shot 24 3’s. Imagine they only took 12 and Sims took 12 more shots. At worst that is probably 14 more points. Shaka won’t or can’t do the math and coach to the strength of this team. They should be running back screens to free Sims down low not just a weak pick and roll. Shaka is who he is and he needs to be himself somewhere else.

If Shaka was an honorable person he would recognize that he will never be able to compete on Texas' level and negotiate a release settlement at the end of the season and move on.

I saw the first half and we looked really good. Did we jack up a bunch of stupid shots in the second half or just have mostly good looks that didn't go in?

I only saw fragments of the 2nd half. I saw lots of standing around, getting trapped unable to get the assist or work it into the paint; and inconsistent shooting.

Horns simply have very little chance if the threes aren't falling at 40% +. And that does not happen often--for any team.

Unfortunately, with the stupid guaranteed contracts Powers was handing out the negotiation of a settlement will sound something like this:

CdC: Shaka, your body of work demonstrates you are not very good at coaching basketball. Your fired.

Shaka: Ok cool, Hook’ em. Send my $10.6 million to this address.

Boss while I agree with you, there is a downside for Smart. Recruits good talent, but each year on the court has been worse than the previous year. Anyone with an ounce of basketball sense can tell that the biggest team fault is lack of coaching. Each loss is a ding to Smart's ability to coach on the elite NCAA level. At some point, he might be willing to negotiate an out to stop the bleeding.

It’s probably a good thing he made so much undeserved money off Texas he can ride off into the sunset of obscurity. His commodity value will be in the shidder after this fiasco. I can’t see another Power 5 school or even a mid major ponying up any real money for him as an HC.

Or he can go the Strong route and his next job can pay him $100,000/year for the next three years and he still collects 10.3 from UT. Lot of cash strapped programs will find that attractive and he can attempt to rebuild his rep on his next job.

Back to my plan....honor his contract, let him feel free to go on job searches......regardless of any improvement, post his job on craigs list at the end of his contract and see what student trainer takes Texas to the Show....

No issue with him moving own and still collecting from Texas what is owed to him. Baylor, Sand Aggy, WVA and TCU (and ou by the time Smart's contract is over) have moved ahead of Texas and are pulling away further every season. The sooner Texas starts the climb back (unless CdC strikes gold like he evidently has done with Softball) the better for the health of the program.
