The real concern here isn't whether Trump looks good or not or whether the picture is photoshopped. It's that he actually takes the time to argue with somebody about it. He should have better things to do.

wow, “we need a Manhattan Project level response “. Glad to see at least some people in our Government get it.

We may, at some point, need to shut off all our borders, all immigration, and all international travel, if this thing becomes a pandemic! China & Russia have closed their 2,600 mile border. I wonder if the Dems will cooperate or will they yell “racism”as they usually do?

there's brewing a growing concern among my colleagues, since the first post about this last week, about this becoming a threat to domestic operations, too ... As we've discussed, the only way to sanitize the aircraft is to disassemble 'em. That can't happen logistically. 4-5 weeks to perform a normal Heavy C per aircraft. 300 737s alone. I think they have 5 or 6 in Heavy C at any given time. Do the math.

So ... prevention is the only alternative. 2 week shutdown. That's probably not gonna happen either. So, at some point, it could be that we have to make a decision FOR the FAA and the airlines. No Buck Rogers ... no operations. PS ... for you legal weenies, that's not a threat of a labor action for a proper contract, but "launch for survival" inverted.

The Chinese ambassador to U.S. Cui Tiankai on Face The Nation, when asked directly if this could be a Chinese developed biological weapon, doesn't really deny it. He just flips the scenario and says what if it's a U.S. developed biological weapon? He then, in true liberal fashion, warns these "crazy rumors" could stir up racism and xenophobia against Chinese people.

I heard on the radio coming to work this morning that a Chinese person who caught the virus in Wuhan and then traveled to Europe has infected 11 people so far in the U.K. and France. He/she was called a super spreader.

U.K. seems to have a surprising nonchalant, you might even say fatalistic, attitude about this threat so far.

Business is down 50% in San Francisco Chinatown restaurants.

I ate Chinese at a food court yesterday. Gotta admit, as I watched the Asian guy ladling out my chicken and rice, I thought hum...what if his Mom just flew in from China?

Coronavirus rumors are hurting Chinatowns around the world

Apple iPhones are made in China. Apple says they have enough supplies to last through April...after that....

This has the potential to be a world-wide financial disaster even if it doesn't spread outside of China.

This is where mass production and branding is a good thing. Or why the mom and pop shop isn't the type of business we should value over others.

I would much rather eat at a Pei Wei or national chain vs. going to a family owned Chinese restaurant for just the reasons you mention.

As for iphone production, this shows the problem with single supply chain or concentrating all manufacturing in one geographic area.

Kind of like food production. The supply chain is much more resilient if a product is produced in several places around the world.

Confirmed cases have dropped for 6 days. China is no longer unprepared. Sick people are having their doors welded shut. It’s over.

Red Chinese authorities use drones to spy on people, get them indoors, and ensure they wear facemasks and follow orders. Wonder where Bernie falls on this sort of thing?

    WorsterMan SEC here we come!!

I heard on the radio somewhere yesterday that a WHO official stated something to the effect of up to 60% of the world population could be infected before this thing is stopped.

We promised Dionysus there would be no math, but some crude math to ponder based on that statement:

World population is about 7.2 billion (give or take few hundred million).
Death rate % is reported @ 2%, last I heard (I think this is WAY lower than actual).
So 60% of 7.2 B is about 4.32 billion contract the disease
    If 2 % death rate is correct: of 4.32 B, 2% = 86 million will die!

86 million would be a pandemic that will far surpass the Spanish Flu that killed, IIRC, - 50 Million people worldwide in 1918.

One of the evacuees housed at San Antonio Lackland AFB was hospitalized yesterday. They are now confirmed as having the virus. The 15th case in the U.S. and the first in Texas.

5 million people left Wuhan before the travel ban. They went God knows where. I think they may turned the corner only to go deeper into the quagmire

    A. I don't trust the Chinese on this.
    B. I think 2% will turn out being higher than we will experience.
    C. I think it will die out soon. I could be wrong.

It will die out when summer hits, just like the regular flu. Further, it appears to hit certain populations with ACE2 receptors. These include Chinese and other east Asians. People with European ancestry are genetically less likely to be affected.
