I don't want to give away too many secrets, but I have this picture in my head, I call it Duck Dynasty meets Blazin Saddles. Hope you like singing bass fish and a giant picture of Headly Lamar.

    4th_floor Dude, where's my laptop?

I think he was trying to let Malik be Malik, just like Greg Davis let Vince be Vince. Malik seemed to line up at random spots and rush or cover whatever he thought. In other words, he appeared to receive minimum coaching.

Malik had a heck of a senior year, Texas didn't but Malik was great. He finished the season with 110 tackles. No he wasn't the dominate force we thought he would be, but that had more to do with who was coaching him in 2015 and 2016. Two years in Herman's strength program and he would have been a much more prepared player going to the NFL.

Agree. Instead, he was a 3rd round pick by Cincinnati, played but was injured. Then to Cleveland, but didn't play. SD Chargers signed him to a reserve/future contract on December 30, the last I read about him. One more year at Texas and he might have been a real beast, and gone higher in the draft. But, it is what it is.

My statement stands. Rumph could not prepare him for the NFL. His stats after 2 years in the NFL is 11 total tackles (10 of them in 2018). Also there is no evidence that any LB developed under Orlando so saying he would have better coached under Orlando and Herman is a real stretch since Orlando's idea of an LB was an overgrown safety.

It's all speculation, so we will have to agree to disagree. It's not just Orlando, Yancy would have made him a better player physically. How do you spend 2 years in a program and never do squats? That is just beyond me.

Here is something else to think about. Another equally disappointing 5'star linebacker out of Texas is Barron Browning at Ohio State. I for one thought he was the next Derek Johnson and he hasn't been even close to that good. His stats are just terrible for a guy that was a physical freak coming out of high school.

LSU -- Scott Linehan (Dallas Cowboys' former OC) will take over as Ed's passing game coordinator, replacing Joe Brady.

SMU -- Dykes shuffles his staff a bit: Ra'Shaad Samples will coach RBs, Chris Brasfield will coach ST, and AJ Ricker will coach OL and be the co-OC.

South Carolina -- The Gamecocks are trying to poach LSU's Tommie Robinson (LSU - RBs).

USC - The Trojans anticipate adding Donte Williams (Oregon CBs) to coach their CBs.

Michigan State -- having suffered the humiliation of being rejected by Cincinnati's head coach (Luke Fickell) and being rejected by Matt Campbell (ISU), the Spartans are looking around at plenty of candidates, including: Mark Stoops (Kentucky), Justin Wilcox (Cal), Jim McElwain (Central Michigan), and Brent Pry (Penn State DC).

But it only gets better (or worse...). Bret Bielema is rumored to have reached out on his own to MSU and is angling hard for the job: "Hire me! Hire me!"

Tommie Robinson's contract ends March 1st and has not been renewed. He's trying to find a seat before the music stops playing.

Edit: I see the WTF response. To make this simple, he doesn't have a job at LSU come March 1st. He needs a job somewhere. Kevin Faulk is widely reported (unofficially) as likely the next RB coach at LSU.

I watched Pearson's grandson play Safety for two years @ Frisco Lone Star. Kind of hard to believe he was offered from a Power 5 school so a great deal of his recruitment was based on Pearson. Drew should just let it be.

After asking every girl in the neighborhood, MSU has finally found its date to the prom. East Lansing is a train wreck, so Tucker has his work cut out for him. It would be nice to eventually see some more challenge to aOSU's dominance of the Big 10 East.

It gets even better. Tucker had just rejected MSU's overtures earlier yesterday and appeared on media outlets to explain why he rejected the Spartans. Sounds like MSU brought in a wheelbarrow or two full of cash after hours to close this deal after Tucker played hard-to-get. MSU will more than double Tucker's guaranteed salary of $2.4 million.

"Mere hours after a media tour to explain why he had rejected overtures from Michigan State to remain as Colorado's football coach, Mel Tucker reversed course Tuesday night and reached an agreement to leave Boulder after just one season and head to East Lansing."

What do you wanna bet that Bielema is now on the phone with Colorado begging for the job...

Bielema is one of those guys who was good at coaching one part of the game (Defense), but was in way over his head, and a fish out of water, at head coach--sounds like Charlie. His ethical issues pale in comparison to a number of other gainfully employed coaches. Bielema could make a darn good Defensive position coach somewhere, or even OL coach (I recall that his OLs were excellent at Wisconsin and Arkansas). Who knows, maybe Tucker would hire him?

Great point! I find it interesting about the "star ratings" in that, there are many 5 stars that don't pan out, while a 3 or less star, or even a walkon may do great and transition well into the NFL. My view of the star ratings and class ratings are purely for the fans, to keep interest and give them something to boast about during the offseason. If they were to do away with the star and class ratings, I, for one, would not care. I look at production when a player's cleats hit the playing field.

As an example, here's some info on J.J. Watt as a recruit in 2007. Not great, but look at how he performed in college and the pros
    J. J. Watt
Defensive End Pewaukee, WI Pewaukee HS
    Recruiting star ratings:

    Scout:[IMG] Rivals:[IMG] 247Sports: N/A ESPN grade: 63

Examples of other Pros that were low rated:
Russell Wilson a 2 star, Phillip Rivers a 2 star. Both LaDainian Tomlinson and Aaron Rodgers were low rated coming out of HS. Rodgers wasn't wanted by any major college or even by JC programs. Cal took a chance on him.

Tucker will be the Charlie Strong on the north. Michigan State had the best man for the job. They are like A&M in that they will never be better than third or fourth in their division. Occasionally someone will hump the puppy and they will slip up a spot.

Tucker had a great job for him at CU. The administration will take three years to understand that they are always at the bottom of the PAC. Then there is the problem of whether or not your check clears. CU & the state of Colorado are infamous for taking action then realizing there are no funds to pay.

Baylor -- Justin Johnson (UH RBs) will be the Bears' RB coach.
Justin Johnson named Baylor Football Running Backs Coach - Baylor University Athletics

Colorado -- The Buffs are talking with Eric Bienemy (KC Chiefs OC) to possibly take over as head coach at his alma mater. Even though he went to Colorado, I would think Bienemy might hold out for an NFL head coaching job. We'll see. Until they get a new HC, Darrin Chiaverini will serve as the interim HC.

OU - sucks. In other Oklahoma news, the Sooners hired Jamar Cain (Ariz State DLs) as DE and OLB coach, while Calvin Thibodeaux will coach the DTs.

USC - Vic Ta'aga Magauli So'oto (Virginia DL coach) will replace Chad Kauha'aha'a and coach the Trojans' DLs. So'oto played at BYU and is a 2nd cousin of Junior Seau. UVA had 46 sacks in 2019.
Meanwhile, Donte Williams (Oregon CBs) will coach the Trojans' CBs.
Vic So'oto to be named new USC defensive line coach
