Smith or Lewis or Moore. Eagles is certainly not slow. Herman hand timed Lewis 4.4/40yds. and 10.6/100M. That is pretty fast. Kelvontay is not slow either.
Rivals is updating their 2021 player rankings. So far, they have released their top 14 five-star players. In-state 5-stars are Wheaton, Brockermeyer, Foster (who they have at #9 overall in the country, one spot ahead of Brockermeyer) Rivals.com - Rivals Rankings Week: Countdown of 2021's five-stars
I like Bryce Foster, but he isn't better than Brock, I think this ranking might have more to do with the fact that Tommy missed most of last season with a shoulder injury. Foster's biggest weakness is foot speed, he is just now a very fast guy, of course he is the mountain and no one ever accused a mountain of being fast. I'm curious what our standing is with Wheaton? He is freakishly fast, but I'm not sure he isn't a bit overrated at that high. Watching him run reminds me of Romance.
They each had 6 TD's for the year. Smith had a total of 25 catches for the year. I dont recall ever seeing him run away from anyone but would be happy if you could post a clip demonstrating that. I remember during his recruitment and his Gatorade Player of the year award I was expecting some really great things. Collin Johnson only had 3 TD's due to his injuries and Duvernay only had 9. Duvernay had 106 receptions and he has speed. Not scary speed but one on the field is not enough. As I noted originally, perhaps the scheme is what causes the lack of wow moments on video. I hope the new OC will get back to more of an offense like we had when Colt was here. I believe Sam ran that style at Westlake.
So a 25% TD catch ratio is not good enough for a freshman? I do not edit videos, but should you catch any of his TD catches, you will see the speed. The LSU one he was open with speed, but made a great possession catch. Do not miss the Eagles TD either. Duvernay ran a 10.27/100M in high school at the UIL laser timed. That is not slow by any non-Olympic standard.
The rest of the Rivals 250 now out Bowman up to #32 overall, cusp of 5-star Sanders dropped 1 LJ Johnson up 14 spots to #67 Milroe dropped 6 spots. Byrd dropped 65. Landon Jackson dropped 196 spots.
Landon Jackson - What would cause a player to drop a precipitous 196 points. Seems like quite a plunge. Did he have a bad season? Mess up in the all-star camps? Piss someone off?
There was that video from camp that I posted above, of him in a drill slapping dummies Also, there has been some rumor for awhile now that he might have been a little overrated. I dont know about 200 spots though
Lake Mcree opening up his recruitment. Pretty gutsy/dumb for a kid with a torn acl. Hope this doesn't burn him.
Bowman was not even in the last Rivals 250, now he is 32 WR Quay Davis also came in at #21 in the Rivals updated list. The lead guy at Rivals, Mike Farrell, says he could see Davis end up as the #1 WR in the 2021 class OL Savion Byrd slipped from #12 to #77. Farrell says they now dont think he is quite the athlete they originally thought. Also, he played DT 2019.
Here's a list by state: BY STATE Texas (50) Florida (11) California (9) Georgia (6) Arizona (4) North Carolina (3) Virginia (3) Washington (3) Kentucky (2) Louisiana (2) Alabama (1) Colorado (1) Michigan (1) Missouri (1) Nebraska (1) Nevada (1) New Jersey (1) Ohio (1) Oklahoma (1) Pennsylvania (1)
Time to go silently through the night and find another tight end. Then let this commitment die from lack of attention. A tight end with a bad wheel who plays the yes, then not sure, game is not anything to create consternation over. Especially one that is hanging with the Baker jerk.
OB's Suchomel likes our chances with OL Jonah Miller of Tucson A happy Bijan probably wont hurt this recruitment
