If not, he's a **** recruiter and has wasted the ones he has used. The only reason he should be back is because the market is not favorable for finding a replacement.
It appears to me this is exactly what they did during the 5 game winning streak. Horns never scored over 70 and opponents never scored over 59 in those games. Defense did the trick. But when it catches up to you and the team is worn out what do you do? When the legs are gone, the legs are gone. And 4 starters sitting on the bench injured and unable to relieve anyone.
I'm in no way lobbying for Smart to return. Just giving my opinion on what happened in the game with OSU. These guys played their *** off for 5 games and accomplished more than they probably should have considering all the injuries. I just think the wear and tear of no rotation and too many minutes played caught up with them.
Injuries or not, would anyone have been surprised by us losing the season finale at home in a blowout to a team that came in 6-11 in conference? I sure wouldn't have been.
I find it interesting that everyone seems to have their career games against us. Oh well, Shaka isn't playing the games so it's not his fault. FWIW, we didn't run out of players. We still had 8 scholarship players on the bench. Most teams don't go past 2-3 deep so there were plenty of people to rotate in.
GERALD LIDDELL injured not available ANDREW JONES still not back 100% although playing well MATT COLEMAN III injured/now playing injured COURTNEY RAMEY DONOVAN WILLIAMS injured not available ROYCE HAMM JR. JASE FEBRES injured not available DRAYTON WHITESIDE walk-on? JERICHO SIMS injured not available KAI JONES BROCK CUNNINGHAM KAMAKA HEPA injured/ now playing WILL BAKER Eight players total available to play. Two playing injured and three are freshmen. Where are these 8 healthy players on the bench just waiting to rotate in?
There’s a difference between defending his overall performance and defending his impact on game where his team shot 17% from 3 and the opponent shot 60%, not to mention 66% from the field, which by the way was their best performance of the year. People that haven’t played basketball just don’t know that these games happen and that when they do there’s very little a coach can do, especially with a depleted squad
Yes, that's 8 scholarship players on the bench and a walk on. Maybe two of them are not "100%" but who really is at this point in the season. Are you trying to dispute what I said by posting exactly what I said plus a walk on?
Ok, so "three" teams beat us by 22+ points this year. Pretty sure two of those losses are in the top 10 worst losses in program history. So maybe not every team has their best game against us.
Pretty half-arsed response in that you continue to guess at facts. On that point, has anyone else noticed that since Trump became president more people present guesswork as facts? Or is that just me?
That settles it, Trump is responsible for Billie Powers hiring and over paying two totally unqualified, incompetent head coaches. Is Alfred E Newman running again this year?
President Trump approves this post. Be selective with information, change words, and contradict yourself within the same sentence. Proud to be a fellow Longhorn with you. On a side note: Anybody else noticed this behavior becoming more common since 2016?
If you want to continue posting here keep the politics on the West Mall forum and out of the sports threads
It’s enforcement of the Posting Guidelines that you agreed to when you signed up. Relevant bit: Political commentary belongs on the West Mall forum, not on the sports forums or anywhere else.
It’s called irony. Look harder. And a big “mmmkay” to those guidelines. The only thing I did that led to this was upset someone who donates to the site. If not, everyone else in this thread who did the same would be equally responsible. And since these guidelines are suddenly of such importance, I’ll make sure to report every aggressive, personal, threatening, and/or off-topic post. I’d first like to report you, then myself, then basically everyone who’s ever posted here. FREEEEEDOMMMM!
Every person gets a warning and sponsorship has no relevance. Arguing you think the posting guidelines are stupid with the owner of the site is pretty much useless.
What you did was bring politics into a sports forum, and we leave those discussions in their own forum for obvious reasons. That’s why I responded. The guidelines were suddenly published in early 2015 Good luck with that
I appreciate your work with this site, but you must see the humor in saying all of that to then, in essence, agree that all of this was in fact arbitrary. I like posting here so I’ll leave it at that, but certainly a head scratcher
You’re right, my response was poorly worded. It’s not arbitrary. What I mean is good luck because you will likely see plenty here to report, and it gets tiresome, both for those reporting it and for me dealing with it. Anyway, all is well. Let’s have fun here.
