Robert Killebrew is helping Dajon Harrison in his rehabilitation. If you are unfamiliar with Killebrew, he was a S recruit converted to LB. If you watch the 2006 Rose Bowl there is a sequence where Killebrew is running stride for stride with Reggie Busch. The guy was a stellar athlete. I believe you are referring to drew kelson who was a safety converted to linebacker. Kelson was also the player running stride for stride with bush down the field on a pass play
You are correct, it was Drew Kelson. Brew came to Texas as a Linebacker, he was an average player that tended to play a bit emotional and sometimes let his mouth do a little too much talking. Still I liked him and appreciate his contribution.
Yeah you are correct. Never understood why he did not play in the NL. Killebrew was a LB too, but not quite at Drew Kelson's level.

4.54 in the 40 and 33.8" vertical is a nice foundation for a 6'3" guy. Add a little weight to his 186 lbs. and coach-up his skills Texas may have a diamond in the rough. Played at Marietta before senior season. Was previously an ASU commit.

UVA recruited and accepted a QB that the coaches doubted could remember the play from the huddle to the line of scrimmage. He made Butch look smart. How about Teford's teams at Berzerkley? Well Texas got a tight end from FL and a the OLB/DE from Manor under Strong. The first never qualified (though he really wanted to play at Texas) and the Manor recruit just could not be admitted. I would think the staff would not want to waste time nor even a scholarship on someone who is so close to the edge. Just makes no sense, especially since each prospect is vetted academically.
You stay on them i they are good enough. Some kids are still working on qualifying by going to summer school or take the SAT/ACT late. (I remember one kid out in CyFair that took the SAT 6-7 times) What about any kids that OU have on their roster that Texas rejected as being too marginal academically? Maybe you are confusing OU with Third Ward, which under Yoeman had few that could have qualified.

When it comes to recruiting dumb people, no one can touch Okie Lite. Dexter Manley ring a bell? How someone can go through high school and a total college career and be functionally illiterate is beyond me. Then again, he was a product of Jack Yates high school so that explains how he got through high school as an illiterate.
Lampkin was the kid a few years ago that signed with Texas but couldn't pass a spanish class so he was released from his scholarship and signed with Oklahoma.
Marcus was not an academic problem. He wanted to go to Texas, but there was a family problem. It took me over a decade to learn the real story from Switzer. (The ESPN show is a white wash fantasy). Haven't seen Marcus in 10-12 years, but he was bigger than his OL at OU.
And when Dupree left OU, all that meant was that OU and Switzer could afford to pay all their other players more $$$.
True, but Switzer intentionally wrecked his career and that unbridled deplorable act should be a permanent black mark on OU football.
Switzer may be garbage white trash; but he did nothing wrong to Dupree. Dupree did it all to himself.
^^^This is very possible, and used to happen on a basis that was not so unique. Especially if the person in question was a good athlete. The way it could and did happen often was that the kid had an undiagnosed learning disability. Which usually meant dyslexia, a neurological visual perception problem. It has only fairly recently been recognized that dyslexia based reading problems are not rare. And many school districts have "special needs" programs in name only. That is, the kids get very little in the way or genuine training provided by a reading specialist competent in working with dyslexic kids. And one more thing, dyslexia does not mean someone is dumb. it means they were born with a brain disorder that causes numbers and letters to look different, making reading impossible. And that makes success in school impossible The person can be highly intelligent in other ways. Many examples are out there. Google it for more info should you be interested.
Horse ****! Marcus never wanted to go to OU, HE HAD TO! Marcus quit on his team in the fourth quarter at about the 25 yardline on the West side, north end of the Cotton Bowl when Richard Peavy broke both their helmets.. Barry almost broke his neck trying to get Marcus back in the huddle when he forgot he had a on a headset, which about 10 yards on the field gave him whiplash. That was Marcus' last play at OU. The dumbass writing the article either discovered the truth and doesn't dare print it or just needed to fill space to get paid. To my knowledge, those responsible for the downfall of Marcus Dupree are still alive, and none were ever on OU's payroll although they did get paid.
