This is galactically bad thinking. By the time a vaccine is available, likely 80% of the population will be infected. Some parts of NY have already reached 40% infected. The only measurable for judging this is how overloaded are the hospitals by Aug 1. By Aug 1 there will likely be <100 deaths per day IF we insist on masks in public, etc.

What if the vaccine doesnt come for 40 years?
Will Sam still have eligibility at 60?

I paid for the season tickets in order to stay in line for 2021. There will not be a season this year.

The pols talk about peak weeks but that doesn't mean all is rosy afterwards. This is with us for a good while and the economic effects are going to last years, not months.

Some universities are not going to be around as a result, at least not in their present form. They are big box stores and will not be able to stay afloat except as online enterprises.

And football is too expensive now for most schools and will be prohibitively so in the future. So no more patsies to play in August and September.

We are in for a change in social scenery beyond anything since WW II

    WorsterMan SEC here we come!!

Tomorrow, Wed. April 15, we are ~ 75~ days away from the July 1 cutoff date (if that date is still valid).

I'm not confident that enough will have changed re the pandemic & social distancing that the powers that be agree to move forward on a college football season in the fall of 2020. Hard to get your head around NO college football, much less some of the social, academic, and sports changes many of you have speculated will happen.

So in 75 days gatherings of more than ? will still be banned? Is that seriously being discussed? We are putting the cart way ahead of the horse here.

IDK, I saw most of TH’s live chat with Chip Brown just now. He seems upbeat and assumes there will be a season. Gov Abbott is allegedly opening up TX on May 4th! No idea what the restrictions will be. I guess I’m old school. I don’t see any reason now not to open up TX. I know and agree we need some restrictions. By 07/01 I am sure a lot of the restrictions will be lifted.

I like optimism! And I think the media has created the hysteria that grips America right now.

PS. I had not heard the Chris Fowler video before my post. Listening to it now. I should yield to Chris Fowler he knows more than all of us about CFB planning, scheduling, etc. He claims the season would get delayed....possibly. Maybe so. Stay tuned.
    I'll stay optimistic.

So if it were to be cancelled, do we lose our donation and ticket purchase for the year? Any ideas?

They would explain your options on donation and move tix purchase to the year to keep you in the stands.
    IMO

Or they could say we really need your money to pay for operations despite it being a 'donation'.

I now think social distancing is going to destroy us. If we just quarantine the old people and most at risk and let everyone else continue on as normal, we might have a few more deaths but the vast majority of people would have gotten sick and gotten better and thus creating a population of people with antibodies we can draw on for blood and plasma donations for those that this virus would kill. The antibodies are the key to defeating this virus, not social distancing.

When my kids were young, one of them got the Chicken pox, then the other 3 got them. We had several friends that when they heard we got the Pox, want to bring their kids over so they could expose them to the pox. They did, and their kids got the Chicken Pox. Now my kids will never again have to worry about getting the Pox and neither will those other kids.

This might not be the same for Corona, but I'd rather get it and get past it rather than hide from it and watch all that I worked for go down the drain.

Not sure why season would be cancelled. Worst case season ticket holders go to one game. That would spread out the fans if needed for social isolation. Or every 3rd section is seated. Or every 5th row, Etc. If there are 5 home games, then every 5th section or row. Not hard to figure out.

Newsflash: Chicken Pox is seldom fatal.
But shingles can be extremely painful.

Any chance Dan Patrick attended an Easter Service this week? I read one of the former Pastor's who declared faith was more powerful than COVID-19 succumbed after his service a couple of weeks ago. Tough lesson too late.

For someone that claims to have been educated at the University of Texas, you are not very smart.

I understand the Chicken Pox are not fatal to kids, but they are damn bad if you get them as an Adult and can be fatal. The concept of just getting the damn disease and beating it this creating the anti-bodies is the point of this. How did we defeat small pox, someone got it and survived and has the antibodies to fight it forever, or until the virus mutates. By people getting it and developing the antibodies we can then harvest those antibodies and help the really sick people.

Every person who has gotten Corona should be tested for the antibodies and be donating blood and plasma to help fight this. Of course they can't be forced to but we can pay them to give. It's the best strategy until we get a true vaccine for it.

Yeah, fatal pandemics are an inconvenient fact. While the population's behavior can influence the duration and effect of the pandemic, without any antidote it is the virus that is in control of the dynamics. We can at best only influence how it dominates those of us without immunity. Feeling lucky?

Antibodies are indeed important. Infection parties for your kids is dumb beyond belief.

Smallpox was defeated with a vaccine. Not anti-bodies.
I have the scar from the vaccination as a child.
Covid-19 will be under control totally when a vaccine is ready. Probably within the year.
Until then we can reopen but with new rules about masks and spacing.
Yes, media infected the entire world, killing hundreds of thousands. :rolleyes1:
Read up on the Spanish Flu pandemic.
They were sheltering in place and social distancing.
When WW1 ended everybody decided to come together and celebrate.
The disease rebounded killing more people than the war did.

Not ideal, but would be sweet to catch a baseball game on Friday and Sunday and football on Saturday night.

Bull S. And I’m among the age group that should be more apprehensive. Just heard Metro schools in Nashville have indeed been cancelled. God do I feel for my kids who have young ones. America is going to give this year completely away and suffer for a loooong time, maybe forever if our enemies are intuitive.
The whole thing sucks. $2k for every American? Who the heck are they foolin?

I have never believed in luck. God kept me here after I fell out of a Deer Blind at 10 yrs old. Some bystander tapped my shoulder right before a car rear ended the car I was pushing off the road at 70 mph. Missed me by 12 ft. I got into track and field after that one.

If he wants to take me he will. It’s my faith that drives me. I had it in March, I coughed my chest was a little tight. Now I’m fine. My wife and 2 friends had it too. Everybody is fine now. Unless you have COPD, Heart Desease, Cancer, Diabetes, you should just feel sick for 3-10 days and then your good. 80% or so have no symptoms. So the lower risk population should get back to work. So no it’s not luck it’s faith and work ethic to power through and get the US back to normalcy ASAP. Maybe I have some Swede in me?

Your hard on for BOLH is palatable. Check into a motel.

Oh, btw, chicken pox CAN be fatal but there is a vaccine for chicken pox now. No need to expose your kids to that or subsequent shingelia.

I'm in the older group also and this is way different that anything in my time here.

I was laid off twice in my life (same company) and both times I knew it was coming so I was ready for it. At no time in my working career did I ever doubt that I could not get some kind of a job and pay my way if I got laid off again.

I'm afraid there will be people that will want to work, do anything, after this lets up that can't find work for a long time.

I agree with nashhorn, the effects will be felt for a long time. Hope I'm wrong.
