Wondered what your opinion on IF and HOW this upcoming basketball season might play out.
Answer in any fashion you want:
    1) Will students be returning to campus this Fall?
    2) Will WBB just resume training and preparing for the season on a regular schedule?
    3) Will the planned schedule be played out as originally set?
    4) Will a player/coach/staff test positive for COVID sometime during the year?
    5) What will happen to the team or player with a positive test?
    * Assuming most of the answers above are YES-ish *
    6) Over or Under: 10.5 turnovers per game with the new staff?
    7) Over or Under: Scoring 90+ points in 2 games this year?
    8) Will a player transfer during this season?
    9) Over or Under: Holding opponents to under 60 points at least 5 games this year?
    10) Over or Under: Beating Baylor at least once this year?
    11) Yes or No: A conference championship will be played?
    12) Yes or No: End of the season Texas is 2nd or 1st place?
    13) Yes or No: Before the start of the season, a transfer arrives?

    1) Yes, UT can not afford to not have $$$ rolling in. They realize that some parents/kids will make this a skip year, but they still need operating money
    2) Yes, I think the kids will come back
    3) I think that long travel games will be cancelled (UConn, Tennessee), but WVU will be kept because of Big 12 politics. Makeup games in the schedule will be schools in Texas within a few hours bus ride
    4) Yes, one or two members of WBB will test positive
    5) When that happens, they will be quarantined for 14 days, cleared and rejoin the team. I think this happens everywhere. If the spread to a team is too great, they'll just forfeit the games until enough recover
    6) Over. I think they'll be averaging 12-13 per game
    7) Under. They might get to 90+ once, but not twice
    8) Yes, someone will not like the coaching change and style and will decide to transfer before 2021 so they can start at another school in 2022
    9) Under. I think the team will hold 6+ schools under 60 this year
    10) Over. I think they will split the regular season
    11) No conference championship
    12) Texas will come in second to Baylor
    13) I think sometime before 2021, a transfer will come in

Don’t bet your lunch $$ on students returning in the fall..
That being said, the team could return to Austin, and possibly live off campus, train, probably a limited practice (like only 5 at a time..stagger practice?)
If games do start back up, I agree the travel will be limited...maybe not at all until January for Big 12...As for the other questions, not sure, depends on if team can even practice much, etc. #5..agree with Racer...

Honestly... I don't know what to think right now. I'm hopeful there will be a season, but only if it can be done safely. I haven't given much thought past that. Strange days indeed.

Not to pick on anyone. It's just that all this:

"Vic and his coaches are gonna change things!"
"I can't wait to see how this team is going to...."

None of this matters if there are no kids to play for UT and against UT. I guess I'm very anxious to see the turnaround that could happen. But I'm also dreading the fact that the turnaround might not happen because there might not be a year.

    I know, Debbie Downer.

    1) Will students be returning to campus this Fall? Sadly no. UT may try to bring them back, and even if they do start school in Aug, the university will likely be back to online and no one on campus by the middle of Oct. or Nov. latest
    2) Will WBB just resume training and preparing for the season on a regular schedule? No, because of #1
    3) Will the planned schedule be played out as originally set? No
    4) Will a player/coach/staff test positive for COVID sometime during the year? Yes
    5) What will happen to the team or player with a positive test? Quarantine. Unfortunately the player (IF the season is played) may not be back for a couple of months. This virus is BAD.
    * Assuming most of the answers above are YES-ish * Assuming I am wrong above.
    6) Over or Under: 10.5 turnovers per game with the new staff? Over, it will be better but not under 10.5
    7) Over or Under: Scoring 90+ points in 2 games this year? Yes since we will play more directional teams
    8) Will a player transfer during this season? No
    9) Over or Under: Holding opponents to under 60 points at least 5 games this year? Maybe
    10) Over or Under: Beating Baylor at least once this year? Sadly no
    11) Yes or No: A conference championship will be played? Possibly
    12) Yes or No: End of the season Texas is 2nd or 1st place? 2nd
    13) Yes or No: Before the start of the season, a transfer arrives?

Many don't like this but I think it's smart considering right around December/January is when it's supposed to get really bad especially with flu season. This is something many schools might do. Also many student athletes are returning to campus the first week of June to begin summer workouts. I know the entire volleyball team is doing that but I don't know about basketball yet.

What’s the point of even having in person fall classes if you’re just going to go online after just a couple of months they just want to be able to play football. And what about the football team and they’re bowl game or the rest of fall sports and spring sport athletes? Have them all on campus while everyone else is at home?

I was thinking a hybrid. All classes are remote, but student athletes are local (and learning from ipads in their dorm rooms). Of course, this makes it so very obvious that players are "employees" of a school. Regardless, if there's only 4(?) schools to play against in the Big 12, is it worth it?

Very true but they said there will be no fall break which would eliminate students traveling then coming back to campus afterwards but don't shoot the messenger. If there is no vaccine by November/December and I doubt there will be I just don't think you should have students on campus during that time. I am no medical expert or anything but flu season mixed with this virus will be much worse than we have seen & at that point some tough decisions will have to be made but of course all of this going back to school in the fall is based strictly off sports. Say there were no fall sports then not one school would hesitate to stay online in the fall but that's just how it is.

If you think it isn’t going to be safe in November then it probably won’t be in safe August. Either have two semesters or don’t have in person classes at all there’s a very good chance there will never be a vaccine.

Well now that our governor continues to open everything up even though the numebr of cases just increased the most it ever has since this began I dont think it will be safe. I just think it's going to be much more deadly going into winter. I think colleges will do whatever to have a football season and get students back on campus including Texas. It's about money to them and not about the safety of students and athletes. Since they are most likely going to bring students back then I'd rather them have a plan rather than no plan at all.

Yes, I forgot to add that Texas will likely end the semester at Thanksgiving as well, as students leaving and then coming back not a good idea...I think Basketball is pretty much out for this year...sad to say...very sad....

Lol right:e-face-tears: I don't think basketball is out. If football season happens then so will basketball considering football gets 10x the amount of fans that basketball does. Same goes for volleyball especially since they are a non contact sport and change balls after every point but going back to basketball I don't think they will just cancel the season. There will be some restrictions but it won't be canceled all together.

Obviously I was joking but if there’s no students on campus then there aren’t going to be any games. Mark Emmert has already come out and said it. So unfortunately I think he/she is right.

I clearly was joking which is why I put the laughing face but yes there won't be sports without students but there will be students on campus especially if CDC has anything to do with it. Texas is opening everything anyways so Texas will have students on campus. Some Athletes are moving back to campus early June to start summer workouts so even if they have a limited amount of classes at one time to keep the number of people on campus low then so be it but I have no doubt Texas will bring students in the fall.

Exactly, I just like that they have a plan in place. I said last week I'd rather have a plan rather than students coming back and no plan at all. I'm sure it will be more details worked out down the road but it's a start so I am not complaining

Football? Yes. I've heard so far without fans.
    Volleyball? Yes.
WBB? That will be tricky. Looking at last year, they had 5 games before Thanksgiving. With UT attempting to empty out and keep empty the campus Thanksgiving and onward (and leaving players in their dorms), you're now asking these players to skip visiting their family over Thanksgiving and Christmas and stay through the end of March. That's a big ask.

Could they pause the season for the break to allow athletes to visit families but I was thinking if that were to be the case than they might as well just start the season in 2021 after the break.

When the online-after-Thanksgiving plans came out from SC, it made sense. All these kids flying/driving home and getting infected along the way to bring back more chances of infection? Leave them at home. If you talk about any Christmas break, the same would be true. But then, drag that thought out further, wouldn't that be true for non-athletes? That the Thanksgiving-Christmas online-only plan means they have to figure out if they're going to let students back for the start of Spring semester.

This goes back to the cynical reality that it's all about $$$ for football. Just get football to Thanksgiving, get $12M (which is better than $0M) instead of the normal $50M out of your program, and call it a victory. Non-revenue sports be damned (on your own, sorry).

Also, I'm guessing they're betting on a vaccine to be available by Dec.

After the November election the virus scare will go away !!!! They will treat it like all the other viruses we have had the last 100 years.

You think so? I think a second wave will hit and be much more deadly with flu season. Hopefully I am wrong because I need all sports to happen but I hope a vaccine will be here sooner rather than later.

I think at this point a vaccine is just a pipe dream. There’s never been a vaccine for a coronavirus and even if there was one it doesn’t guarantee anything thousands still die every year with the flu.

Many schools are going to go distance ed so there will be gaps in the power 5 schedules. Womens BB starting in january is more likely to take place with most of the schedule. If football gets the revenue they need to keep the other sports going, things will be fine. That might be half a schedule or a truncate entire schedule. Once the tickets are sold about half will donate the value to the team. If they do not, and if fans cannot be in the stands, we are in trouble.
