From last night. It shows among other things evidence that those who are coding deaths are counting people they know don't have COVID. The total COVID deaths are above the total excess deaths reported by the CDC.

So while cases are going down and hospitalizations and deaths are going down, some are reporting in a way to artificially bump up deaths.

The mask fight is like the hydroxychloroquine fight. It's stupid. Just listen to your doctor on hydroxychloroquine, and until this thing is truly under control, just wear the damn mask in indoor public places like stores.

I don't like wearing a mask. It's uncomfortable, makes me have to wear contacts because it fogs up my glasses, and makes it harder to breathe. However, there's no question that it helps. Just wear it, and then take it off outside. It's not a big deal.

It helps if it is the right mask, if it’s worn properly and it’s sanitized after each use. That’s simply not happening in everyday America.

I’ll add this. If a business wants to set dress requirements for entering their business, that is fine. If you don’t want to comply, don’t patronize the business. And mostly, don’t go make an *** of yourself and video it. The worker is only enforcing policy.

As well, if a business doesn’t require masks, don’t go on Twitter, Facebook or NextDoor to destroy them. Just don’t patronize their business.

Having a hard time buying this. I wear surgical masks (not the N95). Obviously a virus on its own can get through it. However, there's no question that it blocks a significant amount of liquid droplets (which carry viruses and bacteria) from my breath. Keep in mind that there's a reason why surgeons wear it.

Iis is right. Most people here who wear masks do not wear them properly. I am not sure if haphazard wear is better than nothing

I saw a study that paper towels block as much as an N95. I am thinking of adding a paper towel to my surgical mask as a filter

I would think that it depends on how haphazard we're talking about. If the mask is around your neck, obviously that isn't doing anything. However, if you're wearing it 95 percent correctly, and your nose and mouth are covered, I don't see how they can be totally or even mostly unhelpful.

And it's to keep from infecting the patient, not the other way around.

Yes, I know, but if everyone wears one . . .

Count the number of people in like a Costco that don’t have the mask covering their nose. I couldn’t stop laughing last time I was there.

Does that mean people who wore masks in ND were harassed?

I work for a company that makes masks. I am not an expert, but have been trained since I work with hazardous chemicals at times.

If you wear the wrong mask and the particle or molecule gets through the mask, it tends to accumulate. The harmful specie doesn't move out as much as moves in. Don't know why. If you wear a mask where you face isn't sealed you are breathing in things you don't want and they are getting on average trapped within your mask.

This may be different for different types of masks and different pollutants. But it is unclear to me based on what I know.

mchammer, hospitals are reporting more COVID deaths than the CDC is reports as Excess Deaths in the US. We are the only country I know of doing it too. It means any spike in death that is reported in the next few days is artificial creating by miscoding. It is an observable fact at this point.

I get the argument that it doesn't help the person wearing it.

Hit the gym today in the county south of Nashville . Literally 15 minutes away from my home where working out is forbidden.

Three people wearing masks. Two doing so with their mouth covered, but not their nose.

Masks only work when used properly. This is a false sense of security that does nothing regarding this virus.

Obviously masks must cover both the nose and mouth. That’s a no brainer.

If they didn’t work; if they didn’t protect “the other person,” then surgeons wouldn’t have been wearing “surgical masks” in the operating room since forever.

Unless it’s a cheap “Chinese” knockoff, even surgical masks are pretty effective.

And gee, Joyless Bahar, Don LeMON and Chris hypocriCuomo, the military & VA have been using HCQ “for 65 years.” On any given day “the VA uses 42,000 doses.”

Hmmm, I wonder if HCQ has an acceptable safety profile?

But, let’s not forget that there are two huge issues with HCQ:

    1) Trump endorsed it.

    2) No drug company can make any money off it.

Could that have anything to do with the distorted reporting about the drug? Naw. Never.

If we're looking at anecdotes, I went to three different stores this past week including one used almost exclusively by Americans because it's on a US Army instation. Everyone inside (about 100 in each store) was wearing a mask, because it's required to enter. Everyone I saw was covering the mouth and nose. It isn't that hard. Do I feel "secure?" No. Do I feel better than if they had nothing and were just coughing, belching, and sneezing fully into the air? Yes.

Were they in fact coughing, belching and sneezing while in the store, mask or no mask?

Nobody touched their mask and all were brand new or sanitized? Comparing what doctors do in a hospital to average Joe is silly. Doctors are trained and follow strict sanitary protocols. Their masks are used once and disposed of immediately after seeing a patient. The moronic public is walking around with Petri dishes tied to their faces, hanging off their rear view mirrors or holding in their hands. I’m not buying it. I’ll wash my hands, stay home if I do not feel well and avoid compromised family and friends.

I'm not making a perfect comparison, no. What I'm really suggesting is that it isn't an all or nothing issue. We're better off if people wear them even if done imperfectly but generally correctly than if nobody wore them at all. Are they wearing petri dishes on their faces? I don't know, but I know that we seem to be heading in the right direction on containing the virus without a big upswing in illnesses likely caused by wearing a less than sterile mask.

And again, I fuckin hate wearing a mask.

Buy 2-3 masks, put them on your window sill or car dash. The UV from the sun will disinfect the masks in 2-3 hours.

I am still trying to understand when people say wearing masks prevents the people wearing them from spewing virus into the air but does not stop virusin the air from penetrating a mask.
Everyone keeps saying it but no one explains how that works
